I was going through my brain trying to find a way to keep them from fighting. If they fought then Jake would definitely win. Chase was too weak in his state to fight a human. At first I had nothing but then I had an idea, and I could swear that a light bulb lit up above my head like the do in cartoons. I quickly put my plan to action before they could fight.

I walked around Chase to Jake and grabbed him my the ear harshly and started walking to the driveway where his car was parked. He was struggling slightly and I opened his door an shoved him into his car. I glared at him while he was wide eyed from confusion at what just happened. "As my mate just said, LEAVE!" I slammed the door and walked away back towards Chase. 

He was trying to hold back a laugh and I had to admit he looked adorable. I stood in front of him and crossed my arms trying to look mad, but just made him burst into fits of laughter. I laughed with him and stood on my tiptoes and kissed him. I pulled back and his eyes softened and pulled me into a hug. I heard Jake's car pull out of the driveway, but I didn't care. 

"I'm sorry Maya." He said in my ear. 

"For what?" I said into his chest.

"For you having to do that. I would have done it. You have been hurt way too much by him." He said anger showing through slightly. "If he didn't leave then I would have fought him again. I would have fought him a million time for you, even in this condition.

I pulled my head back and looked him in the eyes and said, "You are my mate, not him. Chase Bryant I accept you as my mate." I never broke my eye contact from him as I said it and in my heart I knew it was true. His eyes widened then turned happy and he smiled the biggest smile I have ever seen on him. He kissed me passionately. The kiss was like anything I ever experienced.  We pulled away and went back inside holding onto each other like if we let go then we would vanish. I finally knew in my heart that this was my destiny. I knew I was meant to live my life with Chase. 

When I closed the door behind me Chase instantly became almost completely limp. I could only imagine the amount of energy it took for him to do all of that. I practically carried him to the couch. I laid him down and he sighed in relief. I sat in the floor, but Chase rolled onto his side and scooted over with his head propped on his hand. He lifted his other arm so I could slide up underneath it and lay against his chest, facing him. I smiled up at him and he smiled down at me. He said unexpectedly, "I love you." 

He waited for my response but instead I scooted up and kissed him. When I pulled back we touched foreheads and I said, "I love you too." I curled back into his chest and my eyelids became heavy. The last thing I heard before I drifted off into sleep was Chase's heart beating in his chest.
