Chapter 13 Leaving

I looked up at him and smiled, happy that he was taking such good care of me. I nodded my head getting up and walked over to the thin blanket with the food on it. He followed and handed me a plate with eggs, bacon, sausage, and biscuits on it. I felt my smile widen. "Thanks." I told him.  I picked up a piece of bacon and bit into it. The grease spreading across my tongue and down my throat as I swallowed. I moaned with delight. I looked up when I heard chuckling coming from the other side of the blanket. "What?" I asked Jake when he realized I was looking at him.

"Nothing." He said looking down, smiling.

"What?" I said even more demanding.

"Nothing." He said at the same tone and volume.

"Imma ask one more time, what?"

This time he blushed when he said "Nothing important, its just that your cute as hell." I looked down smiling and blushing. We ate the rest of our food in silence. Once we finished I grabbed the plates and rinsed them in the stream. I walked over t o the silver ware crate and put the plates in it. He  grabbed the blanket and folded it up and put it back in its crate. "We should probably head back now."
"Yeah, even though me and you both don't want to."

"Are you reading my mind?"
"No. Its just really obvious."

"Ha. I'll change first." He walked to the end of the small cave and I heard him shuffling around as he undressed. I saw a small flash and he walked out in wolf form. When he exited the small cave I entered. I once again gasped at the beauty of the small round cave. I stripped my clothes off and changed into my white wolf form. I walked out of the cave with the clothes in my mouth. I placed them in their crate, folded the best I could. Shadow on the other hand was having a bit more trouble folding his clothes.  walked over to him and pushed this thought to him, Let me try. He stepped aside and I folded his clothes ass best as I could.

I placed them in the crate neatly. Come on let go. I thought to him. He jumped in front of me and I raised a questioning eyebrow. He wasn't playing around his face was dead serious. He flicked his tail onto my nose indicating for me to sniff. I did and I understood why he was so serious. I could smell humans. Print Wolves and humans each had a distinct smell to them, but only Print Wolves could tell the difference. There were humans in the valley. How did we not hear them coming. There was only one way out. Through the waterfall. There are 2 options we could fight our way through or we could make a run for it. I pushed the thought to him. He bolted to the smaller cave and stopped at the entrance and looked back at me. Of course the small opening in the small cave. I said growling quietly for my stupidity.

I raced after him and both entered the cave side by side. We raced down the small hallway and into the cave. I sniffed the air and growled silently when I smelt humans at the top of the small opening. There where less here then through the waterfall and in the valley. He nodded thinking the same thing.  I looked around the small cave looking for ways to get to the small opening. I raced back out with Shadow at my tail and started nuzzling crates to the back cave. I heard Shadow do the same. I sat the crate in the middle of the cave and helped Shadow stack his on top. I jumped up and balanced on the top of the crates. I analyzed the height of the jump. I bunched my hind quarters and jumped for the opening, ready to fight until Shadow got up to help. I exited the cave with room to spare and twisted in mid-air to knock one man out. I jumped onto another and bit his arm in the exact spot so he would live but be knocked out. I don't like to kill humans much, but I will if I have to. I heard Shadow land beside me, but rushed off to attack another person. He tackled a human girl to the ground ready to deliver a killing blow.

I knocked him off of her. We both She ran, screaming out into the woods. We do not kill them if we don't have to. I pushed the thought to him. He nodded understandingly. I nodded and we attacked. There was about 20 back here and probably about 40 in the valley. We've already taken out five of them. I kept attacking them knocking out as many human as I could. BANG. I froze thinking for a second that the bullet hit me. I realized it hadn't hit me I spun around to see Shadow hit the ground. I ran to his side, looking for the wound. I growled smelling silver, the one thing that if it hits us takes human time to heal. When we get shot by a bullet, if it's an iron bullet or bronze then our wound will heal instantly, but if its silver we take longer to heal. I found the bullet in his left back thigh. I started licking it. Shadow tried to push me away and pointed his muzzle towards the rest of the humans that were left. I turned and say them slowly walking towards me with guns. I released a warning growl and they stopped. I'm not leaving if that's what your thinking. I thought to him turning back to him.

He pushed harder and I felt my tears rolling down through my fur. I shook my head and he pushed me away. I backed away slowly and turned tail and ran. I heard more gun shots fire and growling. I heard one more whimper and everything went silent.
