Chapter 1 - Southampton

The day was April 10th, 1912, around 11:40 AM, sounds of cheering, the sounds of other cars, at the Southampton White Star Line Dock, the newest and largest ship in the world, would start her maiden voyage from Southampton to New York, just like her Sister Ship Olympic, there was over 100,000 spectators and some reporters here to see the ship sail across the Atlantic Ocean for the first time. it was 882 feet 9 inches (269.06 m) long, it was the largest the world had ever seen. As the hour drew closer for her maiden voyage out into the Atlantic Ocean. The traffic of new automobiles courtesy of rich passengers hopping on board. As well as the many lower class passengers walking on foot, like ants, so many of them. and a family were on top of them, but one didn't see class division, Otto Von Wolf. a grey and white 19 year old wolf from Rottenburg Germany. he didn't see poor, he saw everyone as equal beings, and finally, they arrived at the dock, And while He saw them as having equal worth. The rest of this world did not. His family contributed a substantial amount towards the construction of this beautiful ship. He's seen the blueprints of the lower quarters. Packed in like rats, meanwhile they had plenty of space and a nice view of the ocean sea.

the car stopped and the driver stepped out, He saw some of the ship, but then the door opened as the driver let him out

"Danke" He said as he bowed his head slightly to the driver, out of respect as he stepped out of the car, looking up into the Harbor and seeing the behemoth before him.

And her name. was Titanic.

She really was the largest ship. From the bow, to the promenade deck, to the boat deck. to the stern, it was full of passengers, waving goodbye to friends, family, loved ones, and just saying goodbye in general. Otto smiled as it truly was a beautiful sight. Families all saying goodbye to their loved ones who are journeying out for better opportunities to so called America. Technology sure came a long way into developing this beautiful beast.

behind Otto, his father, Wilhelm stepped out and stared at the ship, he was thinking about how he helped built it, and how he owned part of it, when in reality, he didn't own any part of it, all he did was give money to help build it, and in return, he was given three 1st Class Tickets for free. Hardly for free actually. He'd given a lot to build it, way more than these 30 pounds tickets would've been worth. But nevertheless, they got given the tickets and had a nice room supposedly set up for them. Otto hoped it was a good room for his hobby of drawing

"Well Otto, what do you think?" Wilhelm Called out to his son, while still looking at the ship.

"She's beautiful sir, a wonder of our age, a dream upon the sea" Otto says, being poetic, smiling up at it. "This ship is beautiful this trip is going to be awesome father"

"Otto, you need to be on your best behavior, you just turned 19 a few weeks ago and haven't acted like a adult, this isn't a vacation, don't make a fool out of me" he said in a stern voice

Otto put on a fake smile. He did not like his father, Otto was looking forward to going his separate ways in New York "Ja wohl, I understand"

"Let's not be too hard Wilhelm, let him have some fun haha" Marie brushes her hand on Wilhelm's shoulder before walking up to her son "But your father is right, do be on your best behavior, understand?"

"I promise mother" Otto says, nodding his head.

His mother smiled back as she walked forward looking at the ship. "So this is the ship you said is unsinkable?" She was somewhat amused by the name, every ship could sink.

"She is Unsinkable, There are 16 watertight compartments, she won't sink!" Wilhelm said with excitement, raising his cane in the air "You can even ask Thomas Andrews, the man who designed the ship, who we will be having dinner with tomorrow"

"Pride is the biggest of sins according to Dante sir. But I am sure that with the precautions taken that this will be a smooth sailing" Marie replied.

"A lot of the White Star Lines ships have had smooth sailings, just look at the sea trails, I'm sure this will be no different" Wilhelm pulls out his watch, the time was 11:45 "The ship leaves at noon, lets go get on the ship and settle in"

The Von Wolfs made their way to the ship. It was amazing how many passengers there were.. it made Otto sort of anxious but he didn't let that show. They past one part of the ship that had all the steerage passengers, some of the crew was checking everyone for lice, It sadden Otto, why didn't they have to be check for anything, of course the rich were seen as clean and healthy, this wasn't a life Otto wanted, Otto wanted to live his life how it should have, but he couldn't, and a big reason was that he is a homosexual, He hid it very very well, taking his sketchbook with him at all times that had male erotic drawings in them, making sure it never got into the wrong hands, Once he had enough money, He could start a new life. finally The family was on the bridge that led them to first class.

"Hello, and Welcome to Titanic" one of the workers smiled at Otto. This worker was a handsome Fox, he had red fur, yellow eyes, and was very handsome.

Otto smiled at him "thank you sir"

Otto was by far the most friendly rich asshole the worker met today. Little did they know how their fates were already spinning together. and as soon as the family left, The Worker saw no one boarding the bridge, so he tip his hat to crowd and left the door and went down to The Crew's quarters on E-Deck, which was located along a corridor named Scotland Road.

"Haha, I'm actually on the ship, can't believe my plan worked!"

The workers name was Foxy, but Foxy never worked for White Star Line, Foxy found a spare uniform outside when Titanic arrived in Southampton to be docked on the 3rd of April, He had kept it hidden very well until he finally needed it, and today, He put his worn out suit into a suitcase He stole, got the uniform on and went on board the ship, and now, the ship was gonna leave.

no one was going to doubt He was a passenger now. He had grand plans, to finally leave and start a grand new life of travelling. it was time to get up on the deck, to say goodbye, it was perfect, of course, He didn't have a room, but that wouldn't matter, He could explore the ship. He removed his clothes. putting his suit on and left the room to go up to the stern.

The ship's horn would blow, signaling that it was close to departing. The crowds of people cheered as they waved to the crowd below. They smiled and waved, as the ship began to move, The Fox had gotten to the back of the ship just in time to wave goodbye "GOODBYE!! HAHA GOODBYE!!!"

The propellers started up as the ship began to move forward, being taken by tug boats, how far ships have come, from small little rafts made of wood logs and sticks, to roaring towering steel architecture. As Titanic made her way out of the harbor, something was going on, the Titanic passed a ship (New York) that was not in service at the moment due to the coal strike, Titanic's suction was so powerful that the 6 inch thick rope snapped the New York from the dock, and was coming straight for Titanic, everyone was watching as the New York came closer. someone on a megaphone had alerted one of the tugboats to steer the New York out of harm's way, and thankfully it missed by 3 inches, everyone sighed with relief as everyone went to go on their way.

Unlike Foxy, he had no cabin, so He decided to go explore the ship, since he was wearing an old suit, he figured he would get up to 2nd Class. Regardless there were a lot of stuff to do on this ship, unfortunately it was restricted, only the 1st class assholes unfortunately could partake in a decent chunk of it.

Otto and his family had settled into their rooms, they were in a very good suite, there were 3 rooms, all with the insane detail and uniqueness as well as some kind of balcony, it was nice to have some fresh air too, Stewarts came in to help get everything organized in the room, helping them all get settled in.

"Oh how marvelous" Otto said looking around this suite. It definitely would be good for him to draw in. Especially the balcony. As his parents were hanging up their clothes onto the coat hanger.

"we will be having dinner tonight, did you pack your dinner suit Otto?" Marie asked.

"Ja mother," Otto said as he entered his bedroom. It was smaller than the master bedroom of course but it still had a desk with a lamp upon it. And a really comfortable bed. He thought to himself, it would be so comfortable to have a nice man cuddled up with him, his warm body against his, holding him and protecting him. He even had a lot of sexy sketches he made from his head, sometimes the anatomy was off, but that was because he never had someone pose for him.

Otto checked to make sure he had the suit, he did, and the other clothes. He looked around the suite some more as there it was. A piano! He loved having a piano, it wasn't as fancy as the grand piano he had back at home but it would do! It was upright, with a golden wooden trim, it was super shiny. He was almost scared to touch it, fearing that it would leave a fingerprint on it. He admired it. It was truly a marvel. He would definitely draw it later, and when in the mood he'll find the courage to play it.

but for now, Otto needed to get ready for lunch, on the Titanic, Breakfast was served 8-10 am, for lunch, it was 1-2:30 pm and dinner 7-8:15pm.

Otto took a look at himself, it wasn't like the suit you would wear with your red tie, it was grey brown pants, with a blue vest and red bowtie. He didn't mind it as much. It looked.. cute, he did enjoy dressing formally after all. He left his room, his parents were ready to go to lunch.

"Alright, let's get a move on" Wilhelm Said as they left to go to the first class dining room, which was on D deck, they walked down the hall with all the cabins until they finally reached the Grand Staircase. And grand it was. It was an iconic spot that they were sure to see a lot later. Truly a wonder of architecture that all of this was built onto one ship. Otto had taken a look over the edge as they walked down, he could see all the way down to E-Deck, it was a long way down.

A few minutes later, they sat down at a table. It wasn't as crowded as he thought it was. There were other passengers, talking and chatting, and they were handed a menu. There was a bunch of fancy food such as Corn Beef, Grilled Mutton Chops, Roasted Beef, lots of elegant food.

"I'm just gonna get the mutton chops and potted shrimps" Otto said to the waiter as some of his parent's friends came by to talk, he wasn't listening, it was boring stuff, money money, rich whatever. He eventually got some water to drink as he waited for his food. Ignoring their conversations, although he had to keep an interest in what their business was to pretend he was following in their footsteps, while he pretended, he looked around, the amount of work, detail, it really did take 2 years to build this thing. Honestly it's impressive it was built that quickly. This place was more of an art piece than it was a ship. And ironically it would serve better as an art piece than a ship. Soon the food arrived.

"Danke," Otto said as he dug into his food. The food was alright, nothing like what he had at home. But he could only imagine what the lower class had.

the conversation still went on, he then heard the word: homosexual.

"Hm?" Otto then started to listen in.

"And I told him, Buddy, you need to go to the hospital, that is not right" One of his parents' friends said. About as much as he expected. And what these hospitals do.. essentially torture the minds of these men just because their love is placed with another man. It seemed absurd.

"Jesus, this will sound awfully bad, but if i knew someone who was a homosexual. id shoot them" Wilhelm laughed as the others nod their head smirking

"How hard would that be if you knew that person very well father?" Otto ask, trying to act curious rather than.. exposing himself.

"Well, You can never really know for sure most of them hide it pretty well"

"Hmm I see.. I'll make sure to keep an eye out for them if I suspect someone to be homosexual"

"That's my boy" Wilhelm patted him on the back, Otto was so angry at him, He wanted to snap at him. He also felt sad. He said he would shoot one of them too. Fuck him. It's why he was making himself scarce once this ship was docked in the city. His mother was even laughing at the awful jokes they were making about his kind, he wanted to yell at her too.

Otto looked down and just kept eating his lunch.

At the bow of the ship, on D Deck, Foxy made his way into 3rd class to see what everyone was doing, lots of Irish passengers, Lots of them looked pretty serious, malnourished, really wanting a better life in the states. Some of them looked at him, seeing him wear clothes that looked first class, he barely looked like he was in 2nd Class, he felt pity, knowing that he used to be in their shoes, he still was actually, just sort of pretending not to be. Most of these folks were honest people. Not a con man like himself. And little did anyone know that they faced a pretty shitty life in the states as well. but most of them, if not all of them, were going to the states due to fear of war breaking out, or to start a new life.

"Isn't this ship really big? Never seen anything like it" a man behind Foxy said, he turned around to see a man, human, black skin, wearing a black suit, brown pants, and white shirt.

"It sure is, I wish I could see the whole thing," Foxy said. Smiling"

"Probably ain't worth it anyways. I wouldn't want to spend a single second amongst those high and mighty bastards in 1st class. Them and their smug looks and their complaining.."

"Oh god, I couldn't imagine, I hate rich folks" Foxy did to some degree. Rich folks got away with so many things, they used their power for anything, to get anything, whether it was sex, fame, fans, just anything.

"Born with a silver spoon in their damn mouths. We ought to throw them to the damn curb and take control of our society!" An Irish woman had said. There was socialist like sentiment amongst the Irish. This was actually true as the original rebels in the Irish Civil War were socialists.

"If only they knew how we feel, how it feels to be at the very bottom, being looked down on, being treated like filth, if only they knew" Foxy said as They all got back to doing whatever it was they were doing. Mostly getting settled in, best they could in their cramped rooms.

"I'm Foxy by the way"

"Joseph"

"Are you travelling with anyone? or by yourself" Foxy spoke a bit louder as people were talking over them.

"I'm travelling with my wife Juliette and my 2 daughters Louise and Simone. We are having another baby, so we are heading back to Haiti so the baby can be born there" he smiled as he waved at his wife and kids, Foxy waved back.

"Congratulations, I hope it all goes well. I plan on exploring the States, not sure what I will find, but i hope its good"

Back in first class, Otto left dinner early to go back to his room to draw. He was by himself. Disturbed by his father's comments about homosexuals. he went out to the balcony outside. Overlooking the western horizon and seeing the sun looming over, threatening to sink below the waves and out of sight within the next few hours. It was a pretty sight.

It wasn't the first time he said these comments, he had been saying this stuff since Otto was little, Otto didn't understand it at first, but then he got older, he understood, and then he found out himself that he is a homosexual, even his mother said these comments, although, she had never said anything violent about them, she only wanted to the go to a mental hospital. These comments slowly and slowly made Otto depressed. Sometimes he wondered if it was really worth living. Yes, his plan was to disappear in America. But he guaranteed that the views were about the same there as it was in Germany. Maybe he should just toss himself off this forsaken ship.
