Three years later:

It had been three years since you had escaped the horrors of the freak-show circus and you had made quite the life for yourself in the town of ebbot

You had bought a small apartment and still kept your job at the animal shelter and your friendship with those kids despite the fact that you had acquired two new friends that were your age and knew you only in your human form

Their names were Georgia and trinity,they were both big goofballs but had their own set of skills...

Georgia was a brunette and was extremely smart even if she didn't always act like it,she loved books to the point where it was almost concerning how quickly she could get herself into and finish a series of good books,she worked at the shelter with you and was your best friend forever

Trinity you had known for less time but was still awesome,she had short blonde hair and was hilarious and loved Disney films,she was pretty cute but not really your type since you were gay and stuff

(Again,my bffs irl because I can,also I hope nobody from my school finds my account coz then imma die inside)

It was a normal ass day when trinity rushed into the shop and up to you and Georgia who had just finished feeding the animals...

"Guys!you *huff* won't believe this"

She was breathing really heavily and leaning over grasping onto a nearby pole for support...

"What is it?"

Georgia asked with her usual look of wonder and curiosity on her face

"monsters!"

"What like the boogeyman pffft wow how old are you?"

"Nooo"

"Monsters? Like the ones from that old folks tale of the monsters under ebbot"

"Yeah! They're real and they returned to the surface!"

You huff and roll your eyes,sceptical of what she was saying,trinity was a known prankster who had pulled many minuscule pranks on you in the past

She just glared at you playfully and reached across the table next to you,grabbing the remote and switching on the tv of the shop,she scrolled through the channels rapidly until she found the right news channel...

On the tv:

"Monsters have returned to the surface,the barrier has been broken by a gender less human child who goes by the name of 'frisk',the monsters appear to be civil and quite friendly and certainly nothing to fear,politicians are highly contemplating allowing them into society,here's a view live from just outside ebbot city"

The news anchor then signaled over to some editing dude who switched to the camera that was live not too far from here,it showed hundreds of monsters exiting a large hole at the foot of mount ebbot

at the front of all the monsters stood a small group of monsters and the human 'frisk' overlooking the Horizon in pure wonder

a tall skeleton was pointing at the sun and jumping up and down like an exited little kid while a shorter one was just looking at him in amusement

A fish lady was conversing with a yellow lizard monster and a robot,two large goat monsters were talking amongst themselves and frisk was just standing there observing the wondrous view of the monsters all exiting the underground with a goat child and another human

Back to you:

It was truly a beautiful sight that made your jaw drop,finally,there were others like you,you were no longer a freak,you no longer had to hide your ears and tail! You hated doing so as it drained your energy and taking them in and out was almost as painful as fully transforming

"Woah"

"Hell Yeah 'woah'! This is incredible"

"Guys we have to go meet them"

You nodded in agreement as you watched many townsfolk exit their houses and workplaces to greet the strange new arrivals

You and your friends all speed walked in the direction the crowds were heading,ducking in and out of the way of the passers by and those who were walking there with the same motivation as you three,to meet the monsters and,most importantly,get answers,little did they know that applied to you most of all and in a...different...sort of way...

Mini time skip:

You had met a few monsters,they called themselves froggit and whimsun,they seemed inseparable even though they were polar opposites of each other with froggit being quite enthusiastic and friendly and whimsun being shy and introverted

After a bit of talking and everyone just generally hanging out and asking a few questions,some personal and some biological like how monsters eat food,apparently they eat a kind of monster food that turns into magic when eaten because,come on,how else would a skeleton,a ghost,a robot,or a fire monster eat food

Once that was all done we said our goodbyes and all went our separate ways,Georgia staying to find out more and meet more monsters being the enthusiastic lil jelly bean she was,then again this was just like many of her favourite books and is probably a dream come true for her

Trinity went back to work because her shift wasn't over for another hour or so and me,well I just went back home to my little apartment due to my work day being over...

Once I had returned home I opened the door to my small,empty little apartment,it wasn't much but it was home...

...home...

...heh...

...last time I said that about somewhere besides here's was...

You began to tear up at the thought of your old 'home' but wiped away the tears,if you learned one thing from that horrible place it was how to ignore emotions and wipe away the tears,keep on going through the pain and you'll come out on top eventually,and you did!

You no longer lived in that hell hole and now had a home a job and friends you could count on,speaking of which I wonder how the kids are taking the whole 'monster situation'...

You could find out tomorrow,for now you just needed some sleep and maybe a cup of tea being the British bitch you were

You pulled out the bed part of your sofa bed,your house had only two rooms,the bathroom and the living room,the living room had a little kitchen corner with a small oven a mini fridge a toaster and a microwave

You slept on a sofa bed because you didn't like the idea of having a full sized bed just chilling in your front room,that would be kinda weird,actually,you know what,this apartment is weird,who builds an apartment without a bedroom

Whatever,that's probably why rent is so cheap,you have a job but that doesn't mean you are rich or even financially stable,if anything you were poor,but you made enough to get by and we're used to a lot worse so from your point of view you were living a life of god damn luxury

You closed your eyes allowing sleep to consume you as you were whisked away to the land of dreams...
