Rhydian's POV
Rhydian was still sitting where he was when Maddy came sprinting through the trees, looking wild and grinning stupidly. He stood up and looked at her tilting his head.

"I like you too Rhydian!" She exclaimed.

Rhydian stared at her in surprise. He was surprised but he had the feeling that she had liked him back. He smiled back and walked over to her, pulling her into his arms.

"I love you Maddy Smith. Not like. I love you." Rhydian then went on to kiss her head, both her cheeks, her nose and finally her lips. Rhydian loved the feel of her lips against his and the feeling that rushed through him was addicting. His wolf howled in delight and he knew her wolf did too.

They only pulled apart when the sound of footsteps filled their ears. Rhydian pulled away slightly and looked around. Mark Clifford was standing a couple feet away from them and Rhydian, on instinct pushed Maddy behind him. But Maddy was trying to do the same to him.

"What are you doing here?!" Rhydian demanded.

Mark chuckled darkly and said, "Just came to see my favorite wolfblood. Also I'm here to take you back."

"The hell ya are." Maddy snarled.

Mark clucked his teeth and Rhydian noticed his hands were behind his back. Mark came closer and Rhydian backed up a step.

"I never would have hurt him you know." Mark told them. "I merely wanted a...companion."

"You kidnapped me!" Rhydian yelled at him. "And a companion? Find someone your own age!"

Mark shook his head. "Rhydian just come with me and your...girlfriend won't get hurt." He said 'Girlfriend' in disgust.

"No."

"You forced my hand Rhydian." Mark lunged at Maddy and Rhydian shoved him back, growling at him.

"Stay away from her!"

Mark only smirked and this time lunged at Rhydian. Mark's body collided with Rhydian's sending him flying backwards into a tree. There was a loud crack and pain exploded inside his chest. Panting, Rhydian climbed to his feet, trying not to wince or cry out in pain.

Maddy let out a menacing sinister growl and snapped her teeth and claws out as her eyes went an extreme yellow. She sprinted at Mark and Rhydian tried to jump in to help but he was just sent crashing back again. This time he stayed in the forrest ground.

Rhydian heard Maddy growl again as Mark threw her back and advanced slowly towards him, his eyes never leaving her. Rhydian pushed himself up and moved away from him painfully.

Mark snarled and Rhydian froze, unable to move. Because he didn't have an alpha Rhydian was vulnerable to be controlled by other alphas.

Maddy on the other hand...completely free. "Take one more step and I'll rip you to shreds."

Mark laughed. "You think you can kill me?"

"I know I can. Now get away from my mate!" Maddy hissed, her eyes glowing a dark gold instead of yellow and her claws grew longer. Rhydian watched with wide eyes.

Mark was startled and Rhydian could tell. He glanced at Rhydian and then at Maddy and then back again. "Mate?"

Rhydian just continued to stare at Maddy. Mark stepped away from Maddy, rage clear on his face. "This isn't over! I'll be back and I'll have Rhydian!"

Rhydian finally looked up at him. "Oh fuck off!"

Mark disappeared into the woods and Maddy rushed over to Rhydian, who was still in pain. He grimaced when she helped him to his feet.

"Let's get you to my mom." Maddy suggested.

"That's sounds like a great idea." Rhydian stated. "I think I have a cracked rib....or three."

Maddy laughed and Rhydian eventually joined in with her and they walked home, together...as boyfriend and girlfriend.

As mates.
