~Chapter Eight~
Deer Sausage
I flopped onto the couch in our living room and flicked on the TV to pass some time. After Sage got back and we fixed that mysterious hole, we tried the leaf hanging thing for a while before it got too dark.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Cedar was getting frustrated after his near 30th attempt to make a hole in a leaf without it cracking. "Just chill out dude," I said. "Think for a moment about something different you can do."
Truth be told I was also losing my patience by the second as another leaf crackled to dust in my hand. Grr! I thought. Why are these leaves so dry?
Just then I'm pretty sure the lightbulb above my head was visible to even Sage and Cedar. "I know that look," Sage said to me as she leaned closer. "What brilliant idea have you schemed up this time?" she asked.
"Well, the leaves are obviously cracking because they're dry. We might be able to put them into a tub of water to soften 'em up a bit!" I exclaimed. "Do you think it could work?" I asked them.
"Might as well try it," Cedar said as he tossed up an armful of leaves into the air.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So that's where I'm at right now. With a bucket of leaves in the tub, Mom and Sage making dinner, and Dad and Cedar playing foosball in the basement, I had a bit of time to kill.
I flicked through the channels till I saw that Duck Dynasty was on. Yes! I happily laid back on the couch and turned up the volume a bit. It's on like Donkey Kong, Jack!

Apparently I must've dozed off because I woke up a few minutes later when Mom shouted that dinner was ready. She scared me so much that I screamed "ITS NOT MY BEAVER!" as I jolted upright!
After smoothing my frizzy hair a bit, I tiredly shuffled into the kitchen and stretched. "So what's cooking?" I asked Mom.
"There's macaroni and cheese with deer sausage on the stove, and a fruit salad beside it that Sage made," Mom replied.
"Is that safe to eat?" I eyed the fruit salad sarcastically.
"Oh shut up!" Sage whined at me. "Just because I messed up last time..." she trailed off. The last time Sage made fruit salad she accidentally used rotten strawberries and, lets just say the after affects weren't pretty.
Dad and Cedar bounded up the stairs just then. "I smell deer sausage!" Cedar exclaimed. "If smells sooo gooooood!" he added in a sing-songy voice.
"Well get over here and dish up some before I take it all!" I challenged as I started scooping the oozy goodness onto my plate.
"Leave some for me, Juni!" Sage whined as she tried to plunge past me to reach the mac 'n cheese.
"Relax, I have an extra pan over here," Mom said placing it on the stove. "You guys are like wolves trying to tear into their prey! Well I guess that's actually true," she said letting out a small laugh.
"Welcome back to Nat Geo Wild, where we continue to track a wild pack of wolves," Dad said pretending to host one of those nature documentaries. "The mother wolf has just taken down a deer and is watching her pups tear into it relentlessly," he said.
Mom gave him a slug in the arm and said, "Hey, I'm not a wolf!" angrily.
I whipped around and said accusingly, "And what is so bad about being a wolf?" as I waved a spoon at Mom.
"Nothing dear," Mom said, "it's just an ongoing joke I have with your father." She hugged him and grabbed her own plate to dish up. "Maybe I should have made a triple batch," Mom sighed as she looked at the measly pickings we left behind.

I had just brushed my teeth and was going to bed when I realized I forgot to tell my parents about the Spaghetti Incident. Did they already know? Will they be mad if I tell them tomorrow?
I quickly shook those thoughts away and thought, The guidance counselor was going to talk to us tomorrow before judging the final verdict and making calls to our parents.
Just one more reason to look forward to tomorrow. I sighed and laid down on my brightly colored bed, trying not to worry too much. Before I knew it, I was dozing off once again.
But this sleep wasn't as peaceful.
The Dream came.
~=~=~A/N~=~=~
Dun dun DUN! What is The Dream? How bad is it going to be? Find out on the next episode of Dragon Ba- oh wait I mean the next chapter of Wolfblood!
Hehe sorry I watch a bit too much Dragon Ball Z, but hey, it's like the best Japanese manga ever! Did you know that 12 in Japanese is jyu-ni? Pronounced like Juni? And Juniper is 12 years old! Haha!
So I went back and titled all of the chapters just cuz. I dunno why. But I did.
Well hope you liked this chapter, sorry it took me so long but I haven't had much free time lately. Don't worry though cuz the next chapter will have the action that ShadowMoon99 ordered, and pretty soon after the adventure Tope requested, and that will lead to a small pinch of romance that Shadow called for, but I'm still open to other suggestions that I can add in! Don't stop with the feedback cuz I rely on you, my faithful readers, to inspire my book. Bye for now and stay awesome!
