Chapter 37 || Jail Break
Isaac POV*
"Okay- let's go over the plan one last time before we go," I had gotten up from the bench and once again stood at the altar, starting to feel a bit like a preacher at this point. "If we mess up" I started, not wanting to answer. "We won't we have a great plan" Lukas smiled at me. I took a deep breath as I went over each step carefully one more time.
"Ok so first of all"

I walked up to the prison, my hands tightly on the bag around my shoulder. I only have one shot at this, if he doesn't believe me everything will be ruined. As I got closer the guard stopped me. "Where do you think you're going?" He asked as he looked down at me. "I-" I pulled the potion out of the bag, showing it to him. "My dad told me to give this to the prisoner," I lied, playing he'd believe me.
He grabbed the bottle out of my hand, studying it carefully. "What is it?" He asked me. Oh shit- I didn't think of that. "Uhm, well my dad didn't tell me, he just told me to deliver it," I said, trying my best to sound as Convincing as possible.
He kept looking at me as he opened the bottle smelling the liquid inside. After a second he gave it back. "Fine. Be quick." He demanded as he let me through. I smiled brightly, making sure the guard did t see it, and went towards the cell Marc was in.

"Alright, you got in, what ate you going to do After that?" Aubrey commented as she leaned back in her chair. "I'll find a way to open the cells," I said simply. "Then you two make a distraction, so we can sneak out," I explained further

I walked into the small room which held the cells. Marc was still just sitting there like he was the last time I snuck in. I walked up to the bars carefully, as I was weirdly nervous. I watched him quietly as he lifted his head to look at me.
"Who are you?" He asked, looking at me confused. "That's not important," I said. "Then what are you doing here" he leaned his head against the wall as he kept staring at me. I didn't realize it last time, but he looked rough. Covered in dirt and scars. Making me wonder what the hell happened to him.
"I'm here to get you out," I smirked, a wave of confidence filling me. He burst into laughter. I looked over towards the entrance, hoping no one heard that. "What?! You're funny." He said as he wiped a tear away. I stared at him frustrated. "It's not a joke."
He huffed as he turned away from me again. "Thanks, kid, but I'm fine. I got what I deserved." He said quietly.
I took a step back, looking giver the cell door for the lock. It looked simple enough but there's no way I'd be able to pick it. Guess I'll just have to resort to brute force.
I thought about asking Marc to do it, but he obviously didn't want to help me get him out. I grabbed the lock and tried my best to get it off, and unexpectedly it came off really easy. I mean I knew I was strong, but this was a little more than I was expecting, it's not like I ever tried it before.
Marc got up after the sudden noise and walked over to the door. "What! How did you?" He stumbled, surprised by what I did. He kept staring at me as I threw the lock away, bad choice, it ended up making a lot more noise than expected. But luckily the guard didn't hear me.
I opened the door, gesturing towards Marc. "Okay come on," I commanded, but he didn't move. "I already told you-" he tried but I stopped him. "I already got the door open, and if you don't come with me I'll have to make you." I tried to sound threatening, but that didn't really work. "Heh, what are you going to do?" He smirked. I let out a sigh, "look, I know you don't want to come with me, but if you don't they're going to kill you-" I explained, his expression seeming to lighten a bit.
"So please, just let me help you," I said seriously as I stepped away from the bars. He let out a long sigh as he scratched the back of his neck, "fine," he gave in and followed me out the door.

"So all we have to do is start a fight?" Aubrey laughed as she looked at her brother. "It doesn't matter what you do, as long as you get the guard away from the prison for just a minute," I explained. "That way we can get out of there.

We walked up to the entrance. I noticed the guard was still where he was before. They must not have done anything yet. "So now what?" Marc whispered behind me. "Here, take this." I handed him a cloak I had prepared earlier. "Just- stay here, run when I tell you to," I said firmly. "Yes, sir," he said back sarcastically. I got up from the wall and headed towards the entrance, marc waited behind me as I told him to.
"You done?" The guard asked when he spotted me, I quickly walked past him so as not to bring attention to the hallway behind me. "Yeah.." I said back as I stood next to him. Come on guys, where is that distraction.
Almost as if on cue, loud noises filled the town square. The guard focused his attention on it but didn't move. "What the hell.." he said to himself. Suddenly Lukas came running up towards us, he leaned onto his knees as he pretended to catch his breath.
"Sir, you gotta come help, there's a fight going on, and it's getting out of hand." He said, the guard stood up and let out a long sigh. "Fine, where's this happening?" He asked. Lukas smiled and turned around, leading the guard towards the crowd.
I took this time to quickly grab my cloak. I put it on as soon as the guard walked off, I walked with him for a bit to not look suspicious. He disappeared into the crowd and I gestured for Marc to come out as well. He had put on the cloak I had given him hiding his face.
I walked back towards the prison, putting on my hood, and walked towards him. "Follow me," I said as I made my way to the back. "It's safer if we go through the forest," I added. "You really thought this through, didn't you." He commented as he followed me. We quickly snuck into the treeline. "Yup," I said simply.
We carefully walked through the forest, thinking we were safe. But just to be sure we didn't run too much, someone might realize something was wrong. "Damn, kid, you really did it." Marc laughed as he walked after me. "We're not there just yet," I said carefully, I had a feeling we weren't out of the woods yet, pun intended, and my feeling turned out to be right.
As we walked suddenly a figure emerged from the forest in front of us. It was the other hunter... my eyes widened as I took a step back. "What the- Hey! What do you think you're doing?!" He yelled as he started walking up to us. I turned around and grabbed Marc's arm. I started to run as quickly as I could. I almost had it.
I kept running, not turning around as I heard the guard run after us. But we were faster. Which must've made him angrier. We ran through the forest, trying our best to make our way through the tree as quickly as possible. I could already see the church appear in front of us, I breathe a small sigh of relief, we might still make it without the hunter knowing where we are, he was miles behind us by now, at least that's what I thought.
"Quick over there-" I yelled at Marc. He looked around and must've noticed the church, his expression turned into a smirk as he started running past me. "Alright." He smiled. I looked around one last time. No sign of the hunter anywhere.
But my feeling was wrong, we were mere meters away from the church, and we were gonna make it. At least that's what I thought. "Come on kid, we're almost there." Marc encouraged me. That was when I noticed the hunter appearing from behind a tree in the distance, holding his crossbow.
He held it up and was fully focused on us. "Wait- don't!" I sprinted towards Marc, pushing him away as the arrow flew towards him.
I felt a sharp pain shoot through my leg. It hit me
Marc fell next to me, "Woah, why did you-" he asked as he looked towards me, that's when he noticed the arrow. "Whoah- kid, don't move." He said as he got closer.
I let out a groan as I tried to move my leg, pain suddenly shot through my body, looking down I noticed where the arrow had hit. "This is bad," Marc whispered as he placed his hands on my leg. "Ah! Stop." I said as the pain got worse.
Great, this is just perfect. My first-ever escape plan ended in me getting an arrow stuck in my leg. I let out a long sigh a si forced myself to get up. "We need to get out of here," I said to Marc. "Are you insane, you can't even walk." He said as he stood up next to me. I looked over to see if the hunter was still there. He was still standing behind the tree, his back towards us as he loaded another arrow.
"Quick follow me," I said again as I walked in the opposite direction from church. "But are we supposed to go there?" He asked, referring to the church. "Yeah but I don't want to lead that guy there too, well go later," I said as I kept limping away. Marc let out a sigh as he reluctantly followed me.

"As I said. Perfect plan." Aubrey said proudly as she stood up. "Yeah, sure," Lukas said, I could hear he still had some doubts. "Come on have some faith in us, I'm sure everything will be fine." She turned to him. "What could possibly happen?"
