What time was it? Around midnight?

Then why had three pups decided to wander out and sit in a clearing for hours on end? By command? Were they plotting?

The answer to that is by command.

Swish

A leaf fluttered over Jonty's paws.

He heaved a quiet, irritated sigh as he ignored his friend's tail as it moved back and forth, knocking leaves over Jonty's tail and paws.

"Shhh." Jonty yipped at his young friend.

"Did you just shush me? Excuse me but I am being quiet. I should be a model" the young female pup, Cobalt, stretched her elegant and long neck to perk up her snout and put on an angelic expression.

"Maybe we should just-" Cobalt was suddenly cut off

"Cobalt!" barked a deep, familiar voice that made them both immediatly freeze.

Cobalt's cloudy green eyes sparked with shock. She dipped her narrow silver head. "Cloverdust" she greeted their mentor.

Cloverdust narrowed his eyes and stalked forward, his black pelt making him almost invisible in the darkness.

Let me clarify.. Cloverdust is HUGE.
With big paws, a long snout, long legs, and thick muscles, he was a giant compared to the three pups that he taught.
His blue eyes peered at the team of wolves in front of him. "It do hope your taking this seriously."

"Yes, Cloverdust" Cobalt mumbled.

He growled. "Speak up!" he barked.

"Yes, sir" Cobalt fixed herself and said it louder.

Jonty felt a twinge of sympathy for his friend. It was always her that Cloverdust picked on.

"You may be wondering why your here" he began pacing in front of them.

"Yes actually" hissed a voice beside Jonty.

Oh yeah.
The third pup.

That's Spring.

Spring was.. Sort of a rebel. The youngest of the pups but the sharpest tongue.
Spring had pure white cut that gave her away in the dark, but made her invisible in snow, with peering yellow eyes like two tiny suns were compressed and put into her eye sockets.

She was Cloverdust's favorite.

Jonty could tell by the way that Cloverdust watched her every move, with a crestfallen and hungry expression, that she was his favorite student.

Harmless enough, right?

Cloverdust snorted. "Because you needed to conserve your energy for tomorrow's battle"

Spring frowned. "Battle?" she spoke up again.

Cloverdust opened his maw to respond when suddenly, a streak of white came out of the bushes, colliding with Cloverdust.
