Chapter 2 - Truth ☑️

Two years later....
Truth looked into the seemingly never ending splash of stars. She had always wondered what it would be like to be a star, and some elders told tales of dragons turning into the stars to watch over us on the other continents, how the WindWings turned into the clouds and the gentle breeze. They always said that when the spirits of the WindWings were angry they would send tornadoes and sandstorms and vicious wind spiraling at them until they did what was meant to be done. It reminded her of parents telling their children to listen or behave, to eat their vegetables. She hated being six. Hated being told what to do and all that. She just wished that she could be the wind, roaming freely, not being told which way to go or what turn to make.
She sighed and looked down at her small talons. Talons of a dragonet. That would soon change. Her Day Of The Wind was tomorrow (but nobody called it that, just elders). Once you turn 7 you take The Test. It was a ceremony that tested if you were to become a dragon or wait one more year. If you succeeded, the spirits would choose your last name and you would move to being a grown up, but if you failed, you had to be marked with a necklace of youth and wait another year until you could try again. If you failed again you would either be placed to the cell until you completed the test correctly or you would be banished out of the WindWings. (Most likely the second) Truth was terrified or being banished. Everybody knew that once you were banished you would get killed by the StoneWings or be taken prisoner for life by them instead.
A loud growl came from behind her as she saw her father come up and sit next to Truth. SwiftRunner glanced at her and put his wing around hers. She looked at him and smiled as he picked at his claw where a small splinter stuck out of the crack. He was gently tugging at it as if it were a snake about to bite at any moment. He winced every once and a while, and Truth held it in for almost a minute before bursting into giggles. Her father gave her a glare and muttered some words she didn't know. He tried tugging it out again and flinched so hard it looked like somebody had bit him, Truth finally let out a loud snort that burst his bubble, pouncing on her playfully. She quickly  threw him off of her, laughing hysterically. He took this as an advantage and jumped back onto her, tickling her. Truth whacked him with her wing and jumped onto him instead, sending them both tumbling down the snowy mountain into a lump of snow, laughing.
"You should just tug it out you baby!" She snapped suddenly, "Seriously, how long has that been in there? How did you get the job of the Commander of Advanced Militia if you are too much of a child to pull out a splinter?!"
Swift looked at his daughter playfully.
"Oh, you want my job, do you? If you are so bold and heroic then you should tug it out so then I can tell your mother about how heroically you snatched it out of my talon with such ease and — YOOOOWWWWWWWWWW  TRUUUUTH!" He roared as she snatched his talon and grabbed the splinter, tugging it with so much force that it popped right out, leaving drops of blood forming on his talon. Swift stared daggers at her and pounced, though he was so off—coordination that he missed, sending him flying behind his daughter. Truth squealed as she leaped into the air and flapped her wings to the limit with her father right behind her, roaring with delight.
They flew all the way home, screeching and laughing, to be faced with an annoyed looking mother.
