Chapter 16 - WaveDrift
A load screaming woke him up that morning, as well as a blinding pain at his tail. He whipped his head around to see about a hundred tiny dragons jumping at them, shrieking like devils. His ears must have broke or something, because after that he just heard a high pitched noise in his ears.
I can't move my legs...
His mind muttered. It's was like they gave him drugs or somethin'. Maybe that was their power. It made sense in his mind.
The dragon biting his tail let go and began to make long clicking sounds towards the others. They quickly let go of them and looked at that dragon, who had turned to a particular member and clicked to him as well. They must have been discussing TruthSeeker, because the next second the other dragon (thing, must be dragon somewhat, right?) sprinting towards her and grabbed the nearest rock, chucking it at her head and instantly knocking her out.
He now began to realize that he could hear normally again, and it felt as if his vision was less fuzzy too, because now he got a good look at them.
They were about three times as large as the Small Claws in the books that he used to read and had large fluffy wings, but instead of feathers held huge pointed hairs, not quite needles though. They hand lean bodies and long slender legs. They also had toes in the back like a Small Claw (the ones in front resembling wolves), but for hairs they had short scales running across their whole body. They had a wolfish nose and grin, and huge droopy rabbit-like ears, except longer and had more rips and tears in them. Some also had many different looks like nostrils and different wings, or other body parts as well. One of them even had an extra pair of legs.
The leader-ish one was the coolest. It had bat wings and long fangs coming out of his mouth, probably deadly. His eyes were albino-red with small slits for eyes, like a snake. He also was heavily built. He even had cartoony biceps on his front [arms? Legs? Who knows].
Suddenly his legs began to tingle, as if letting him know that they began to work again. The leader dragon thing had begun to walk towards Truth', chittering towards the others and grinning like a madman, stroking one of her horns.
He suddenly looked at WaveDrift and motioned another dragon-thing over to him. He quickly entered a panicked state and jumped up, lashing his tail side to side then sticking his tail up intimidatingly as the new dragon walked over. The thing then raised his talons up, stopping aruptantly.
"You do know that you have fur coming out of your scales, right?"
WaveDrift yelped, but quickly regained his threatening posture.
"..... What are you things? How did you know that Truth' was dangerous? Also how are you talking to me whattttt?"
The dragon-thing grinned, probably proud that he had stunted the new guy.
"You see, new chirkleiterp shirp clicket, we are Dragonlings. We each have our own powers and stuff. Meaning that Clickrictling has the power to see others powers. My own power is to talk in all languages, as you've probably guessed."
He grinned again but it quickly turned into a frown as the Leaderling (probably not called that, but it sounded cool in his head) snarled at him, (a real snarl. Yeah. Not fake. The Dragonling's could snarl. Now they were 100% dragon in his books. )And chirped a couple more sentences before pointing towards WaveDrift and baring his fangs. The Dragonling that had came up to him before quickly snapped his head around and continued speaking in a more calm but commanding manner.
"Leader, or Fricklechtling, wants all of your new Dragonling's names. He requests that you follow then to your chambers for the night. Just know that we can easily kill you, Newling. Also if you must speak to me, you will call me Chrizzleling."
Chrizzleling sounded unsure about the killing you line, and had glanced around towards the other Dragonling's, so he guessed that they just didn't want to take their chances.
"Um. My name is WaveDrift, and that over there is Igneous. She is a St-"
"Enough! Just. Tell me. Her name."
He pointed towards TruthSeeker and bared his teeth.
"Heyyy, uhh, what's happening?"
Hw turned around and realized that Igneous had just woken up, rubbing her head.
Jeez, that dragon could sleep through almost everything.
"I mean, I could have sworn that you were just chirping, but I must just be tired."
She murmured and looked at him pointedly, as if expecting an answer.
"Don't tell her anything about our conversation, Dragonling. Also if you speak to her directly, you will go back to your mortal language. Now, come wi-"
"Sorry to interrupt, but, is that thing talking to you? I also hope you realize that you can trust me with powers like talking to weird dragon things who just chirp a lot. I like to know these things about my friends usually."
Now both of them were looking at him, just with more of a if-you-don't-tell-me-I-will-hurt-you expression on.
Oh no.
He saw where this ended. He had to make a choice.
Dumb choices.
In his life, he had made one fairly large choice, and that was if they were to go to Pyrrhia or not. And that was a group decision! The rest were just what he had wanted for cereal.
He decided that he would tell her later.. for safety purposes.
"The thing started to chitter at me so I chattered back. Duh."
Igneous looked at him doubtfully and rolled her eyes, adding no comment as he flashed a grin at her.
"Come on, I think they want us to go with them."
This made Igneous snort flames.
"Yeah sure. You have no idea what they are saying, yet you know that they want us to go with them."
He laughed nervously.
"Lucky guess?"
Before Igneous could retort back, he put a talon over her mouth and motioned her towards them. She snarled at him with reluctantly followed, eyeing the surrounding (as well as him. This was something Wave' didn't particularly enjoy).
Chrizzleling had Begun to walk side by side with the Leaderling, making them look 1000 times more intimidating, like real supervillains.
They then began the longest hike that WaveDrift would probably ever do in his life, because they absolutely refused to allow their "prisoners" to fly. It took them around five hours to get to the village (at least, he was guessing it was a village).
His guesses were correct indeed when they all walked into a place filled to the brim with Dragonlings. Igneous muffled a gasp as the whole village turned to looked at them, which was around two thousand tiny piercing eyes.
The Leaderling quickly clicked some sentences towards some armed guys and towards Chrizzleling. They all then bowed and the guards holding Truth' quickly set her down and scurried off.
The new guards came up to them, Chrizzleling motioning the duo to follow him.
Igneous looked around uncertainly as we entered a welll guarded cave.
"Should we go once TruthSeeker wakes up?" She murmured.
WaveDrift nodded slowly as they descended deeper into the cave.....
