Chapter 14 - WaveDrift and Igneous

WaveDrift sat looking over the water, watching the sun slowly rise again over the horizon. It had been a day since the recent ambush from the StoneWings, and he had (singlehandedly, how strong he was. TruthSeeker was almost nothing compared to Igneous's  body weight. It was dumb of how close it felt to carry rocks.) carried their limp bodies over towards a beaten up cave higher up.

TruthSeeker and Igneous were currently sprawled next to each other, wings over the others for warmth. Igneous was on top.

She had gotten up every once and a while to eat food before shivering and practically falling next to the fire. She had gotten bad frostbite and hypothermia due to the plunge into the ocean and could only move for a while at a time before having to sleep again, probably to get away from the pain.

TruthSeeker was still knocked out cold. He was no doctor, but he could tell that she wasn't expected to wake up any time soon.

His foot injury was healing at a fast rate in comparison to theirs, and should be able to walk on it in like a month or so, though it still didn't feel like heaven.

He sighed and got up, limping over towards the two and promising that he would hunt tomorrow as a wave of tiredness passed over him. He quickly spread his wing above the twos, almost reaching the end and laid next to TruthSeeker, glancing at both her and Igneous worriedly. He gently put his head next to hers and let sleep overcome him....

Two weeks later.....

Igneous -

She woke up to a numbing pain racketing up her body, sending back shivers down her spine. She didn't know how long she had been asleep or awake for that matter, but it had been a while.  WaveDrift was sitting next to her, cooking a goat and holding another in his firm back talons, grinning at her.

"Care to eat, sleepyhead? Or do you prefer to sleep another two months?"

She quickly sat up, alarmed.

IT HAD BEEN TWO MONTHS?!

WaveDrift began to laugh warmly at her, sending a heatwave down her body.

"What?"

She asked wonderingly, still looking alarmed.

"It was a joke, you nut. Can't a dragon laugh every once and a while?"

She muttered curses at him and sent him a look, snatching the stick and tore at the goat, finishing it in a few minutes.

"Say, how did you make the fire?" She asked him, licking her lips.

"I may not have fire, but I know the basic survival skills sweetie. I also know how to catch fish!"

She rolled her eyes at him.

"Of course you do. Your practically part squid as well so I'm not surprised, loser."

He clutched his heart, looking hurt. She snickered at him and slowly got to her talons, stretching her wings.

"Alright. Let's go."

WaveDrift looked up at her, confused.

"Uhhh where do you think that is? It's perfectly safe here, no need to rush. Also we have to go somewhere specific. We have a war to end."

Igneous met his challenging gaze, standing up straighter.

"We are going somewhere specific. We are going to Pyrrhia."

"Ha! No. Way. We are not going to go to another continent to ask for help for our own war. Also, we don't know where it is anyways. This is a Pyro problem. And also, they don't know we exist."

"No. We are going, and that is final."

She glanced over at TruthSeeker, who was still knocked out.

Maybe this isn't the best idea.... No. We have to do it. Destiny is destiny.

Igneous then grabbed TruthSeeker and gently put her on two large branches, grabbing one end and motioning WaveDrift to grab the other as he stared at her, shocked.

Pyrrhia, here we come...
