Sand and Rain

Amaya flinched as the entrance to the sand cave opened slowly. Her feet and arms were tied together with rough metal and she glared at her capturer.

He was a small Sandwing, but he was defiantly stronger than he looked. He had earlier tackled her to the ground and locked her up. The Rainwing shuffled her now violet wings making a light hissing sound. The Sandwing barely reacted and only looked at her curiously walking further into the cave.

The last thing Amaya would do was plead to be let go so instead she spat. "Stupid Sandwing! You'll pay for this!"

"Will I? You were the one crossing our territory. I was just doing my job and protecting the Sandwing kingdom."

"I was only passing through."

He cocked his eyebrow unconvinced. "And where were you heading?"

"None of your business." The tried to make herself comfortable on the hard ground. She couldn't understand how Sandwings could live in such conditions. The air was musty and hot and almost hard to breath.

"I'm just trying to make sure you aren't here to steal from Queen Scorch. Cause trust me, that isn't a good idea."

"I don't want anything from mango brained queen!"

He didn't appear angry when she insulted his ruler, in fact a hint of humor glimmered in his dark green eyes. "So what now? Are you going to turn me in for 'trespassing'?" She growled the words, her sapphire blue eyes glaring.

"Maybe," he replied tucking in his wings and curling his barbed tail.  She glanced at the small Sandwing and his barbed tail.

She tried to look calmer than she felt, still hiding the small amount of fear the churned in her stomach. "If you just let me go, I promise I won't come back to this endless sandbox again."

He didn't appear convinced and she growled. "Look, I don't know what you want from me. So if you're going to hand me in just do it!"

"I won't."

"Huh?" She looked at him in confusion, wondering if she had heard him right.

"I'm not about to turn you in to someone who killed both my father and best friend. Well at least I don't think I will. I'm still thinking about it."

He scales shifted to red for a second but then back to violet. "Hey, you don't wanna be here. I don't wanna be here. So how about we compromise. You let me go and we can both go about our day." She suggested hoping he wouldn't just leave her there to starve.

Would he do that? She didn't know, she had only just met the Sandwing.

"You're persistent, I'll give you that."

She gave a small shrugged accepting the compliment and watched as he began pacing. "If you hate your queen so much, why are you still here?"

"Because my family, my mother and sister are- wait! Why am I telling you this? Just- stop talking." He ordered and Amaya raised her head defiantly.

"I'm afraid being quiet isn't one of the my strong points." He groaned looking down at the sand in thought but suddenly a long shadow casted over the two dragons from the cave's entrance. The Sandwing looked up in surprise and then dread.

About ten Sandwing guards stood at the entrance, all dressed in shining armor. Amaya shuffled in the cornered baring her fangs. "Well, well. What do we have here? A traitor and a chained Rainwing." The head guard grinned.

"Traitor?" The small Sandwing said in confusion. "Louse? What do you mean-"

He never got to finish his sentence as two guards pounced a landed on him. The Sandwing tried fighting them off but was easily over powered. As for Amaya, she knew she had no hope with her arms, legs and wings tied up.

Her only change was her fangs but before Amaya could even hiss in their direction they put chains around her snout sealing it shut.

"Get your claws off me." She shouted through her muzzle, but they ignored her. Cactus aimed his barbed tail at a guard, but before he could strike him other guards produced their own tails threateningly.

The small Sandwing who was weirdly the size of a male Rainwing hesitated before being throwing against the wall.

Amaya didn't see what happened next as one of the guards grabbed a stone and knocked her out.
