I See the Stars

I see the stars,

do they see me,

upon the cold wet grass?

I stare into the dark black sky

with a lens of clear hard glass.

They still seem very far away,

stark in the pitch black night,

and here am I,

alone and tall,

in view of their deep sight.

I see the stars,

do they see me,

am I in their cold gaze?

I think they do.

They watch me true,

on all my long life's days.
