Chapter 6: Cookies
Once everyone was fed and watered they started talking for a while. Fred and George walked up to Percy trying to recruit him for pranks. Percy smiled goofily and helped them plan.
Thalia walked up to Ginny and covertly tried to convince her to join the Hunters.
Nico hung back until Percy dragged him into a conversation about pranking.
Sally caught up with Sirius and Lupin, trying to drag every detail of their relationship into the open.
Hermione, Harry, and Ron talked amongst themselves.
Molly and Arthur talked to each other about Harry's upcoming hearing.
They stayed talking and playing for a few hours before Percy, Thalia, and Nico started their teasing.
"Hey Kelp Head," Thalia called.
"What, Pinecone Face?" Percy replied.
"I'm gonna kill you!"
"Why?"
"Nico just told me you were the one who pulled that prank on my cabin."
"What prank?" Percy asked innocently.
"The one where you painted my cabin pink and then changed all my clothes to pink. Oh, don't forget the fact that you covered me in toilet paper while I slept. And to think I killed the Stolls for your prank."
"Oh, schist," Percy started to run.
"Get back here, Jackson." Thalia gave chase.
"No. No. No," Nico chased after them, "Those two are going to kill each other."
Sally laughed as Nico said, "Pinecone Face, Fish Breath get back here before you kill each other."
"What?" Harry, Hermione, and Ron mouthed to each other.
Harry pointed upstairs and they each got the message.
Everyone also looked on in confusion. Even for wizards, it was not normal for people to threaten to kill each other. Sally continued to chuckle a bit. Every time the three were in the same room together at least one death threat was made. The cousins would never purposely hurt each other and would feel bad if they actually did. She knew they would grieve a thousand times over If one died. If one died the two remaining would cause havoc only imaginable by one of the Big Three. Storms would ensue from Percy and maybe Thalia, and Nico may unintentionally raise the dead. The three are powerful but love each other like brother and sister. Never would they intentionally hurt the other.
"Are you going to stop them?" Lupin asked.
"They'll be fine," Sally brushed off, "They won't hurt each other. They love each other too much. Trust me."
The wizards looked skeptical but no one went after them.
Five minutes later the trio returned.
"Did you really have to shock me that hard?" Percy complained rubbing his arm.
"You deserved it," Thalia replied, "You're the one who soaked me."
"It was self-defense, Lightning Girl."
"Kelp Head."
"Thunder Brains."
"Seaweed Brain."
"Can y'all stop?"
"No!" Thalia and Percy exclaimed at the same time.
"Ugh," Nico groaned, "you are both idiots."
"Hey, Death Breath," Percy said offended.
"Fish Breath," Nico shot back.
"Devil Spawn."
"Hey, my dad is not the Devil."
Thunder boomed in agreement.
"Sorry, Uncle," Percy said, "You know I like you. You're more tolerable than some others I could name." Thunder boomed again. Whether it was in anger or agreement was hard to tell.
Sally laughed as the banter came to an end. Everyone else continued to look confused.
"Before bed would you three like to help me make cookies?" Sally asked.
"Of course!" the three rushed off to the kitchen. Sally found them hunting for the ingredients in the cabinets. Chocolate chips, flour, and sugar already laid out on the counter. Thalia came back out of the pantry with baking powder and baking soda. Percy emerged out of his spot with butter and milk. Nico rose out of a cabinet with mixing bowls and cookie sheets.
Sally grabbed vanilla and summoned the food coloring from her bag, "We are ready," she proclaimed.
The cousins started working on the first steps while Sally supervised occasionally giving a piece of advice here or adding a tad more of an ingredient there.
"Can I add the coloring?" Percy asked baby seal eyes in place.
"Of course, sweetie," Sally handed over the coloring. Percy added a few drops of coloring and stirred. Once the batter was a dark blue Thalia dumped in the chocolate chips and Percy handed the bowl to Nico so he could stir.
Sally popped the cookies in the oven and turned to the teens.
"All done for now. Why don't you go hang out with the others? I'll set a timer and join you soon," Sally pushed the demigods out of the door.
They reluctantly complied. The three would happily sit and watch the cookies bake if it meant they could get them faster.
They walked out of the room grins on their faces. By the time the Golden Trio had retreated to Harry and Ron's room.
"My mother has pushed us out of the kitchen until the cookies are done," Percy pouted.
"Oof," Ginny sounded, "Let's play truth or dare to pass the time," she suggested.
"Sounds fun," Thalia shrugged sitting on the ground. They moved to form a circle and Ginny started, "Percy, truth or dare."
He thought for a moment, "Dare he decided."
Ginny paused, "I dare you to do a flip."
"Okay," Percy did a backflip.
The wizards applauded.
"Fred, Truth or Dare."
"Dare," said twin replied.
"Lick deodorant," Percy promptly replied.
"Ok," Fred said, "Accio Deodorant."
The deodorant came flying down the stairs. Fred uncapped it and took a quick lick of the deodorant.
"Mmm tastes like coconut," Fred licked his lips. Everyone else gagged.
"Thalia, Truth or Dare."
"Truth," she stated confidently.
"Have you ever kissed anyone?"
"Nope."
"Why not?"
"That's two questions."
"Fine."
"Nico, Truth or Dare."
"Truth," Nico replied.
"When was the last time you slept?"
"Never mind I choose Dare."
"Go to sleep,"
"I don't like this game," he grumped.
"What are you doing?" Sally asked.
"Truth or Dare," The children happily coursed.
"Okay, well cookies are done."
I'm Percy, Thalia, and Nico happily rushed to the kitchen and started munching on cookies.
"Let's continue," Ginny cried as the Little Big Three finished their cookie session.
"Nico starts."
"Okay, umm... George, Truth or Dare?"
"Dare. I ain't no coward."
"I dare you to walk on your hands for two minutes," Nico said after a minute.
"Accepted." George got up and started a handstand after a minute he crashed into the coat stand by the door.
"FILTHY BLOOD TRAITORS AND MUDBLOODS TAINTING THE NOBLE HOUSE OF BLACK," Mrs. Black screamed.
The children and Sally rushed to the painting as adults rushed to close the curtains.
"She's dead," Nico whispered in Greek.
"A portrait is dead, who would've guessed?" Thalia asked sarcastically.
Nico poked his tongue out.
"I am Nico Di Angelo. I am the Ghost King. I hereby banish you to the Underworld," Nico commanded in Greek.
Promptly the picture of Mrs. Black disappeared and the frame fell to the floor.
"How did you do that?" Sirius demanded.
"That's for me to know and you to forget about," Nico sassed.
"Sheesh fine I won't ask again," Sirius backed off.
"Good," Nico stated firmly in Greek asked, "How long before he asks again?"
"Five drachma it's only a few days," Thalia stated.
"Nah, he'll last a week before asking," Percy bet.
"I bet he won't last a month but he'll last longer than a week," Nico joined.
"Deal," Thalia and Percy coursed.
"What was that?" Hermione asked curiously.
"Greek is our mother tongue we were discussing something," Thalia replied.
"Okay," Hermione drew out the word skeptically.
"Alright, bedtime," Molly shooed the children to bed. Paul and Sally headed to the room they had been shown earlier that day while Thalia took Estelle to theirs. Nico and Percy headed up the stairs to their appointed room. It had two twin beds on each wall. The room was dark and grim.
The walls were painted black. Only a wardrobe decorated the far wall. The bathroom was on the wall in between the beds. Even the door for the bathroom was made of dark wood.
"Welcoming," Percy said dryly.
"Yep," Nico popped the P.
This is good right it's probably about 1300 words. Not too bad.
This was mostly done on my phone so feel free to correct any mistakes in the comments.
Next time on Wizarding Royalty:
"...is this a good thing or bad thing for the Wizarding World?"
"How did this get out?"
"...I can't see anything with it that close, Thals."
