Chapter 3: Wizards
"I've done it," Dumbledore exclaimed quietly to his dark office. A few paintings jumped in shock and gave a short screech of surprise.
"Phineas, can you alert your grandson that I have completed the spell, and we should be ready to move out tomorrow? I will alert the rest of the Order," Dumbledore asked the portrait of the past headmaster: Phineas Nigelleus Black. The former headmaster grumbled but ran out of sight to his connecting picture in Twelve Grimmauld Place
"Psst, boy," Phineas whispered to try and get wake one of the boys in the room.
Harry made a mumbling sound but did not wake.
"Potter," Phineas tried louder.
This time Harry bolted upright from his position on the bed and looked around the room. Phineas was unsure if it was because of the nightmare the boy seemed to be having when he walked in or because of Phineas's attempts to wake him.
On Harry's third look around the room he noticed Phineas in his portrait, "Who are you?" he asked.
"Phineas Nigelleus Black, former headmaster of Hogwarts. Now go get my great-great-grandson. I wish to speak to him," Phineas curtly introduced.
"Who is that?" Harry asked skeptically.
"Why the only Black in the house of course," Phineas said a hint of distaste in his voice. His grandson was not his favorite person because he was sorted into Gryffindor. All Blacks before Sirius were Slytherins and everyone expected Sirius to continue that legacy yet he did not.
Harry realized that the man was talking about his godfather and rushed out of the room to find him.
Harry finally found Sirius sitting in the kitchen nursing a cup of hot cocoa. The older wizard had been woken up by a nightmare about his time in Azkaban and wasn't able to go back to sleep, so he pulled out a mug, some cocoa powder, sugar, salt, vanilla, and milk to make the coco. Sometimes it was nice to make something from scratch and for yourself.
"Um... Sirius, I have a portrait of a former headmaster in my room wanting to speak to you."
Sirius was brought out of his thoughts suddenly by Harry's words. He groaned and followed the younger boy toward the room where his great-great-grandfather's portrait was arranged.
"What do you want?" Sirius asked the portrait as he emerged into the room.
"You may not want the young one to hear this," Phineas automatically replied. Sirius motioned for Harry to leave the room for a bit to which the teen clenched his teeth. He was tired of being treated like a child who had not yet faced the dangers of the world. He had fought Voldemort not once, not twice, but three times and survived. Harry had also completed the Triwizard Tournament that he was put into by the Moody imposter and watched Voldemort rise from the grave.
Grudgingly, Harry left the room. He tried to listen in but only caught snippets of the conversation, "Dumbledore...spell...leave...retrieve...children."
"Thanks. Who...going?"
"Ask him."
Sirius opened the door and beckoned Harry back into the room. Phineas was gone most likely returned to Hogwarts through the painting.
"What was that about?" Harry asked.
"Nothing too important, Harry," Sirius dismissed. The conversation had in fact been about the collection of the royals. Dumbledore had finished his tracking spell and was ready to bring them in.
The next morning another Order meeting was held.
Sirius ate breakfast next to his boyfriend and was more relaxed from the comforting feeling of Lupin next to him.
Children were once again shooed out of the room by Mrs. Weasley. The charm was cast and the meeting started.
"I have finished the spell to find them," Dumbledore announced.
"When do we pick them up?" Molly asked breaking the silence.
"Today as soon as everyone is ready. The children should be informed of what we have found. I would like to take along Mr. Potter, Ms. Granger, and Mr. Weasley. They should at least be informed about what we are doing."
"Yes, fine. I'll go bring them in," Sirius got up and headed for the door. He trusted Sally and knew she would have raised her kid right. He didn't know about Thalia and Nico though, he just had to hope they would not be like their bloodlines.
Sirius found the kids at the top of the stairs trying to listen in. He stuck to the shadows for a minute before letting out a small chuckle. The teens were startled and turned to the origin of the noise.
"Trying to listen in?" Sirius asked with a small laugh.
His question was hastily denied by the group.
"Yeah sure," Sirius's voice was sarcastic, "Anyway," Sirius's voice returned to normal, "come on in. Everyone wants to talk to you."
Wearily the young wizards followed him. Never were they allowed in an Order meeting. Harry had only been in one and that was directly after his arrival at the headquarters.
Sirius pushed open the kitchen doors and walked in the small horde on his heels.
"Now, I assume you children would like an explanation?" Dumbledore asked the children a kind smile on his face. "It was brought to our attention that we have some children who stayed out of sight of our world for a while. I have finally been able to track them down and I would like to pick them up today. It has already been decided that Mr. Potter, Mr. Weasley, and Ms. Granger will come with us to pick them up. I would also like to take Sirius and Remus with us as they knew Sally during her Hogwarts years. "
The five mentioned nodded in acknowledgment.
"Good," Dumbledore nodded, "Meet me back here at five. It will be about twelve for them in New York. That should be all for now. This meeting has officially come to an end."
People slowly trickled out of the room while a few stayed behind to try and help Molly cook lunch. She just waved them away and continued with her cooking.
Five o'clock rolled around quickly for the team assigned to pick up the newest wizards.
"Are you sure you don't want to eat dinner first?" Mrs. Weasley asked.
"We're sure Molly. It should only take a few minutes. If it doesn't Sally is almost as bad as you in mother henning," Remus laughed.
"Fine. Just come back safe. All of you," Molly relented finally.
"Don't worry. We will."
"Good."
Harry, Ron, and Hermione each grabbed onto the arm of an adult. Harry grabbed his godfather's arm, Hermione had taken the arm Dumbledore offered her, and Ron grabbed Lupin's arm. Spinning on their heels the group of six disappeared towards New York.
"Reperio magus potens" Dumbledore waved his wand. His wand did a little dance before pointing in the direction of Manhatten, "This way," Dumbledore led the group.
They started walking for a while following the wand's directions. Pretty soon, they came across an apartment building. The building was made of brick and three stories high. The inside was not necessarily lavish but it looked comfortable. The wand pointed the group up two flights of stairs and to the apartment labeled '316'.
They arrived in time to hear the tail end of an ongoing conversation through the door.
"We leave whenever the wizards get here," a male voice stated before turning solemn, "No, the fates don't like to give us peace."
Dumbledore knocked on the door.
"That must be them," a female voice said. The door opened to a kind woman with brown hair and kind blue eyes.
"Professor," Sally greeted as her eyes fell on Dumbledore. She looked behind him and her eyes brightened a little, "Sirius, Remus. Come on in," she waved the group in, "Yep, it's them."
Harry looked passed Sally to see three teens. Two looked about fifteen and the other maybe seventeen. All three had black hair. One was a female with short choppy black hair and electric blue eyes. She wore a Death to Barbie T-Shirt and camouflage pants. A silver circlet adorned the top of her head.
The younger male wore a Skull T-Shirt and black jeans. He also wore an aviator jacket over the shirt. His eyes in contrast to the female's were a dark black. They looked like they could consume you in darkness.
The older male had green eyes that swirled like the sea. Ever changing but also calm. He had on a blue sweatshirt and some jeans.
"Perseus Jackson, I presume," Dumbledore looked at the oldest teen.
"Call me Percy," he replied with a wave, "These are my cousins: Thalia Grace and Nico Di Angelo. A relative told us you were coming." Percy answered the unspoken question.
"Ms. Jackson," Dumbledore asked, "I do not wish for the Ministry to impose a teacher on us like they are trying to do. If I remember correctly you were very adept at Defense Against the Dark Arts when you were in school. Would you be able to teach the class?"
"My husband and daughter will need accommodations but I would be able to. Also, it's Mrs. Blofis now," Sally told him.
"Congratulations, Sally," Sirius and Remus congratulated.
"What about you two? Are you together yet?" Sally looked at the couple. They blushed a bit but nodded.
"Ha! I knew it," she exclaimed.
"We could provide accommodations for your daughter and husband in London if you wish to teach at Hogwarts," Dumbledore cut off the conversation.
"Then I guess we're all going to Hogwarts," Sally exclaimed.
"Don't you need to ask their mothers first?" Hermione asked pointing to Thalia and Nico.
"Our mothers' are dead," Nico deadpanned.
Hermione's mouth made an 'O' shape.
1600 words. Haha. I might have gotten a little carried away. Sry. Also, Sally would probably have been the one who tried to put Sirius and Remus together during their schooling. The others would have helped. Sally has an inner Aphrodite. Nothing will change my mind.
-Scarlett.
