Chapter 23: Morning
Heads of Houses passed out the schedules right before breakfast ended. Snape walked along the Slytherin table. He gave looks to new students that warned them not to disappoint and represent the house badly. Even though from what both Thalia and Nico had seen there was already a negative bias between the student body about the Slytherin House.
The first class of the day was labeled as Divination B, which meant that the group would be going to be in Classroom Eleven with Firenze. Sally had gone over the list of electives with the three before the school year started. She had patiently explained what each elective was.
Ancient Runes was the study of runes and languages from long ago. Muggles Studies was learning Muggle culture. Care of Magical Creatures was learning about the creatures of the Wizard World. Arithmancy was basically fancy math. Last but not least Divination was the art of telling the future.
When it came down to it the Little Greek Big Three choose Divination and Care of Magical Creatures. The first class of the day was Divination then the Slytherins would move onto Charms with the Hufflepuffs.
When they entered Classroom Eleven they were amazed to see it had been made into a replica of a forest. The floor which should have been stone as throughout the rest of the castle was replaced by green grass. Throughout the room, trees grew up from the ground. Convenient rocks, tree stumps, and logs were laid out for children to sit upon or lounge against.
Thalia sat down and leaned against a tree. Her eyes were darting around the room as if expecting danger. Nico hid himself in a shadow almost instinctively. He was propped up on a wall. His right foot is on the wall.
When a familiar mop of raven hair that seemed to run in the family appeared his eyes scoured the area looking to spot his friends. Percy's eyes landed on Thalia first and he slid into a spot next to her. He did gather some weird looks from Gryffindors, however.
"Hey," said Percy he looked a little tired.
"What's wrong?" asked Thalia with no preamble.
"Dreams," replied Percy.
"Same."
"What about Nico?"
"I had one too," replied the younger boy in question.
Their conversation got no further as Firenze walked in and started the class.
"In this class," the centaur began, "you will be learning how to tell the future based on planetary movements. Our first lesson will start with learning what each of the planets mean. Can anyone tell me what figures the planets were named after?"
Thalia raised her hand and Firenze studied her for a moment before saying, "Yes, Ms..."
"Thalia. My name is Thalia." Firenze nodded motioning for her to answer the question, "The planets are named after the Roman gods and goddesses."
"That is correct ten points to Slytherin," Firenze said. "Yes the planets were named after the Ancient Roman gods and that can help us to determine what each planet means."
A projection of the planets was placed onto the roof.
"Would anyone be able to tell me what Saturn could mean?"
Percy sent a glare toward Saturn and whispered to the other two, "There's grandfather."
Thalia and Nico snickered. They tried to hide the movement unsuccessfully.
Percy had said his words just quietly only Thalia and Nico had heard him so the small snorts of laughter from Thalia and Nico gathered some weird looks.
"Would you care to answer the question?" Firenze asked not looking happy about being interrupted. He had called out Percy now. Percy shrugged and said, "Well Kron- I mean Saturn is the Titan of Time and Agriculture in Roman mythology. So Saturn could mean a good harvest or a time of change."
Firenze nodded serenely, "Good. Ten points to Hufflepuff, Mr..."
"Percy Jackson," Percy told him.
"Can anyone tell me what other planets may mean?"
"Mars signals war because Mars is the god of War," Nico called without raising his hand.
"Very good. How did you know?" Firenze asked.
"Yeah, Death Breath how did you know?" questioned Thalia with a snicker. Nico hit her like the mature fifteen-year-old he is.
"I've studied Roman mythology before," Nico answered the centaur's question. A few students were looking at Nico from around the room in surprise they had never realized the connection between planets and gods.
"Yes, very good. Now anyone else?" Firenze asked.
Percy suddenly let out a choked laugh. The laugh lasted a few seconds before he stopped himself. Percy leaned closer to the Lieutenant of Artemis and whispered, "Thals, tell your dad he needs to lose weight."
Percy received a smack on the back of the head and the sound of thunder rumbling in the distance.
The rest of Divination was spent going over what the rest of the planets mean.
Venus was about love, Mercury was about communication and travel, Jupiter was about justice, Uranus was about rebellion, Neptune was about illusions and secrets, and Pluto was about wealth and often predicted an imminent death.
The next class of the day was Charms.
"This year you will be taking your OWLS. A very important moment in any young witch or wizard's future because they will determine which of your courses you may continue if you wish. It helps if you have given thought to what career you want in the future," Professor Flitwick told the students. "And have checked with teachers for what O.W.L needs to be acquired to continue study in their course. An E is acceptable to continue study into you N.E.W.T years with me."
Most of the lesson was spent talking about the O.W.L. with Flitwick emphasizing how important the test would be for future careers. Flitwick then went over the curriculum for the year and reviewed some spells from years previous.
Luckily, no homework was assigned for Charms class.
The next hour and a half was a free period which allowed the two Slytherin demigods to find Percy and drag him into an abandoned classroom.
"Ow, Thals," Percy said rubbing his arm as she released it when they walked into the classroom. Thalia had pulled Percy along by the arm to get him away from Fred and George who were trying to convince Percy to let them meet Conner and Travis. Percy was denying their request.
"It wasn't that bad," said Thalia, "Now tell us about your dream."
Percy relayed what he had seen to the Daughter of Zeus. He told both her and Nico about how Voldemort had allied with Circe. Circe still held a grudge against Percy for destroying her spa within the Sea of Monsters and in return for her help in killing Harry, Voldemort would help her kill Percy.
"How come the gods can try and kill us but they can't help us?" asked Nico putting his head in his hands.
"I don't know man, but it's messed up," replied Percy.
"Question is what's our next move?" questioned Thalia.
"There isn't much we can do," said Percy. "We don't know exactly what is being planned yet."
"Yeah. Percy's right. We need more information," agreed Nico.
"So, it's settled we do nothing for now?" Thalia asked.
The other two nodded in agreement. Not the ideal plan, but for now that was their best plan. Later, they would be able to get in contact with people from both camps if they needed to.

Hermione slowed to a stop as she heard hushed voices leaking out from under a closed door. Two were distinctly male and the other was distinctly female.
One of the male voices sounded slightly older than the other two. She heard them discuss something interesting. It sounded as if they were discussing dreams. They talked about the dreams as if they were real and likely to happen.
Hermione was able to gather who was speaking because of the names she was able to catch. Once she heard, 'Perce.' which she put together to most likely be Percy. Another time she heard 'Neeks.' that one stumped her for a few minutes until the voice became more familiar and she recognized it as Nico Di Angelo's voice. The last female voice was referenced as 'Thals' occasionally or 'Thalia' a few times other nicknames were thrown in there but they sometimes seemed to lead to either boy being shocked if their yelps of surprise were anything to go by.
'What?' Hermione mouthed as she caught the tail end of Percy's dream. Despite the young man never having seen Voldemort in his life he had accurately described the resurrected dark lord.
Hermione rushed off as one of them complained about being hungry and the trio headed for the door to the classroom.
"Well the new kids certainly believe in prophetic dreams," Hermione whispered as she slid into a seat near the fireplace in the Gryffindor common room.
"What makes you say that?" asked Harry with a raised eyebrow.
"I overheard them talking about dreams and then Thalia asked what they should do. Like they knew it was real," Hermione explained. "Percy said something about You-Know-Who teaming up with someone named CC. He destroyed her spa or something." Hermione's face scrunched up as she tried to remember exactly what was said.
"Then Nico and Thalia explained the dreams they had."
Ron and Harry nodded along.
"Are you sure they are telling the truth and not just playing some elaborate game?" Ron asked. "We all know the stuff Trewlany does is faux."
"No, remember third year, Ron," piped in Harry. "That prophecy was very much real."
Ron nodded in agreement, "Maybe, but the dreams telling the future bull she tried to teach us. That was definitely not real. Are you one hundred percent sure they are telling the truth?" Ron asked again.
Hermione looked thoughtful for a moment, "They sounded like they believed what they were saying and what the others were saying. It's weird though, isn't it?"
"We can't argue with you on that, Mione," replied Harry, "but for now before you go off researching in the library until Defense Against the Dark Arts and miss lunch we are going to get lunch."
Hermione tried to protest but both Gryffindor boys gave her a look that told her they knew almost exactly what she was planning to do and they were going to make sure she took care of herself before throwing herself into research on the Olympia family Hermione sighed but allowed them to lead her to the Great Hall for lunch.
How did I do with this chapter? I think I did okay. Hermione's part was kind of fun to write because I could see this actually happening. Also 1700 words almost 1800.
This chapter was originally labeled Class but was then changed to Morning for the classes on the first day. Chapter 24 will be labeled Afternoon and follow the afternoon classes.
Credits to both seaweed_brain27 and DaughteroftheSeaGod3 for the ideas for Divination classes.
