Witness {Eyeless Jack x Reader} Chapter 15

It's been about three days since you showered up and were introduced to everybody. In this time you've learned a bit about each of the people here, a bit more than might be needed.
You'd spent a lot of time with Tim and Brian, when you weren't with Jack of course since he didn't seem keen to share your time together very often. Unlike Jack these two seemed mostly human and understood you better. Food, comfort, struggles adjusting, these were problems Jack didn't really concern himself with so far but these two had started to take care of you. In an older brother kind of way.
They'd been willing to open and share about themselves a bit. Humans who had been forced under the control of a being they didn't name but seemed to be awful enough to scare two grown men this badly. Nightmares, anxiety, the need for medication, they were both safe but still haunted.
They also explained the situation of this mansion more. It was abandoned house in the woods for a long time, it's hard to say when somebody actually used it. But it was found by Jeff when he ran away after committing his first crimes. Then came Ben, Jack, Toby and the duo themselves. It has no meaning and they don't consider each other roommates or anything, it's just a mutual hideout for people avoiding the police. You fit in perfectly now, though you're still certain you didn't kill your parents Jack insists the proof says otherwise.
Aside for those two you'd shared a few conversations with Toby who seemed a bit skittish if not nice. He didn't have much to say about himself, apparently his memories only started when he found himself in this forest with Slenderman. Nobody would tell you much about him aside for Toby works for him and to avoid him at all costs. He's the reason people enter the forest but won't leave, and the reason you're not allowed to go out alone.
Your earlier guess had been right, Toby was pretty much your age. Jeff is just a bit younger than you, Ben is up the air what counts for a ghost's age, Jack seems to be older by a couple years (in human age, you're still not sure if that means much) and Tim and Brian are both in their mid twenties. It was nice Toby was closest to your age, you didn't feel isolated as not quite a kid but still not an adult yet.
The other two had been avoided completely. You were scared to facing death just from breathing in the same room as Jeff, but you'd asked about him to the others. Bullied, attacked, killed. You couldn't get yourself to feel sympathy for someone who'd killed even with that backstory. Though you were probably a hypocrite given your feelings for Jack. Those had been ignored too, about as much as Ben. He hadn't threatened you like Jeff but he was unsettling. You'd had few encounters with him but ended them quickly.
Though you considered yourself still nervous and frightened, Jack claimed you were adapting fast. In a way that was good, if this was to be your new home. It was still hard to accept, you'd really only been slowly inching out of denial for awhile.

Today was your fourth day here. You woke up having no clue what time it was but you heard noises on the other side of the curtain in your room. Slowly you stood up, cursing the way the old bed and floor creaked as you moved.
"[Y/N]?" Was it really that loud or did this man just have really good hearing? You doubted you'd get an answer.
"Yeah..." You mumbled, rubbing your eyes before stretching your arms out. He hadn't moved to greet you for once, he must be busy. "I'm going to get breakfast." Your voice has started to lose it's soft nervous tone around Jack again. You'd gotten so comfortable around him for sometime, until the tension between Jake and your parents murder. Around the others you still felt nervous, a bit shy even, but not him anymore.
"Be careful." Simple things like that, a warning and a want to keep you safe, it was how he showed he cared. Or maybe you were reading too much into it again. There was still no proof that he really truly cared aside for saving you from arrest.
Without another reply you tiredly left the room and walked down the cold hallway. You were grateful you thought to pack more clothes, though washing them would prove to be a struggle soon, however the jacket you'd brought wasn't very thick. You considered asking if someone could get you a better one but you feared being more of a bother to them.
As you walked down the hall you noticed the house was pretty silent. You were certain it was at least daytime when you woke up but perhaps everyone was sleeping in. You'd long lost a proper sense of time here.
You hardly had time to think before gloved hands covered your eyes and engulfed you in darkness. In surprise you stumbled back into the chest of whoever approached you and simply got a warm response of "Guess who."
I took only a moment for the voice to register and you smiled, your entire body relaxing. "Brian!" Like a cheerful sister you knew him well already. He removed his hands and you spun around to smile at him. Apparently none of the mask wearers here would remove their masks around other people, and you hadn't mentioned Jack would do it when you were alone, but Tim and Brian seemed to be doing that around you now. It was nice, made your conversations feel more personal.
"Good morning. If you're looking for food you'll have to wait until Tim and I get back. We're low on food." Apparently those two had taken the job of getting food. It made sense when they were the least suspicious looking and technically not avoiding the police but something else entirely.
"Okay, be careful." You couldn't help but worry over them since you now consider them friends. Brian smiles at you while leading you towards the main room where Tim is waiting for him.
"Morning." He lifts his hand in an almost wave and you wave back, watching the two make sure they have everything they needed. Just as they were about to leave, Jack walked into the room suddenly.
"I'll be back soon." He gave no explanation and you were sure by the uninterested expressions of the duo next to you that Jack had only been speaking to you as he swiftly made his way out the door.
"Will you be fine alone?" Tim breaks the silence and looks over to you again.
"Alone?" Running through the recent events you realized you kind of were alone. Or the people around weren't good. Ben didn't usually leave, Jeff never said when he left, and Toby had no choice in leaving at odd times. It was hard to say how alone or safe you would be. Yet you just smiled a little and nodded. "I'll be alright, Jack will be back soon."
There wasn't another question before those two left and you fell back into silence. You considered going back to Jack's room, you felt safer there, but the uneasiness of what he was doing behind that curtain told you not to. Besides, staying by door would mean you'd know immediately when someone came back.
Just as you turned to go sit on the couch there was a sudden rush of movement and you were against the wall. The first thing to notice was the blade against your neck, just under your blue ribbon. It didn't take a genius to guess you were now looking straight into Jeff's eyes as you held your breath.
"All alone finally. Those pests were always around to stop me." He grinned, or seemed to be grinning more than usual, not just with the smile cut into his face.
"I-I'm sorry-" Without knowing what you're apologizing for you begin babbling to try and save your life.
"Shut up, I'm sick of you." He pulls the knife from your neck and puts it on the corner of your mouth. Your eyes widen in terror as you think of how painful it'd be, to have your skin carved like his. Hot tears well up in your eyes as you close them and prepare yourself for pain.
Jack. Why did you have to leave?
Tim, Brian, please come back.
You had nobody now, there was nothing you could do.
Yet, the pain never came, instead you heard a collision and a grunt. Opening your eyes quickly you saw Jeff now knocked onto the floor a few feet away, with a figure in front of you protectively.

"Don't touch her."
