Those first few months with baby Juliet were hard. Avery and I were new parents. We lost so much sleep before we got the hang of things and got Juliet into a schedule.
Life became normal again.
When Phoenix was born, and I got to take him home, I expected to have this down, to the T. I didn't. Being a temporary single father wasn't easy. I was getting up every two-three hours feeding him and changing him.
Juliet slept like a baby, and I didn't understand how. I losing sleep by the minute, but as a father, you begin to realize that it's for a purpose. For someone else that has your heart. And once you realize that, it gets easier to handle. Realize and pray; my two secrets.

Baby Nixie was cradled in my arms, his happy place. He loved the simple attention, just being held and cuddled.
I still couldn't believe that he was two months old, and new years was just around the corner. It had been nearly a year without my wife, and the battle continued.
I looked up, hearing a knock at my door. Juliet hopped up, and answered it.
"Aunt Fallon!" She squealed.
Fallon giggled, "Hey there, princess."
"Come in, Fallon." I laughed.
Fallon stepped in, and shut the door with Juliet by her side. She grinned, "He's such a cute baby."
I smiled, "Thank you. And thank you for watching for watching them. I appreciate it, a lot. He should be good."
"Okay." She nodded. Fallon looked down to Juliet and winked, "If I need help, I'm sure the big sister will help."
Juliet grinned and nodded enthusiastically. Fallon gently took Phoenix from my arms and I gave her an appreciative look.
I began going around the house, putting on my shoes and jackets. Then looking for my phone and keys. On the way out the door, I quickly kissed Juliet's forehead. Then gave a quick smile to Fallon, again.
"Thanks so much, Fal." I grinned.
She nodded, "Of course. Go before Juliet and I kick you out." She winked.
I got to the office, and sat my things down, then taking my seat. Joey stared at me from across the room and laughed. I turned and simply glared at him.
"Lemme guess? You called Fallon?" Chad asked.
I nodded, "Yeah. I asked her if she could watch the two for today."
"You could've brought them here, Juliet's a good kid." Alan stated.
My eyes widened and I shook my head. Alan smiled and gave a laugh.
"Don't get me wrong, I love my kids, but I need a break. Phoenix kept waking up, and Juliet was following me all over the house; just no." I explained.
Alan nodded, "Understandable."
"I have a good feeling about day for some reason." Joey muttered, "I don't know."
"Hey, we're alive and healthy, that's a reason for a good day. We're blessed!" Chad exclaimed.
I nodded in agreement, "And my wife is doing better, and my kids healthy. That's what matters to me." I whispered.
"True, man. True." Joey murmured.
I sighed and looked down as my phone went off. I was mainly expecting it to be Fallon, to ask a question about Phoenix. However it wasn't, it was the hospital, and immediately I expected the worst; my wife was dead.
"Hello?" I answered, my heart slowing down.
"Caleb, its Liliah. I've got something for you." She started breathlessly.
"Is it Avery?" I asked, tears already coming to my eyes and my breathing shallow. If she was dead, my whole world was gone.
"Yeah," Liliah answered, "She's awake."
I gasped, and shot forward, my hand landing roughly on my desk. "She's awake? Please tell me you aren't kidding."
"I'm serious Caleb. Avery's alive and awake. She's been awake for about an hour." Liliah laughed.
"An hour?" I questioned.
"The doctors wanted me to wait so they could check her vitals. The only thing, she doesn't remember being pregnant." Liliah explained.
"That's okay. I'll be there soon. I'll tell her." I smiled.
"Okay." And with that, Liliah hung up.
I sat my phone on my desk, leaning back in my chair and closing my eyes. My wife was awake. It was a huge blessing.
"What is going on?" Alan asked, giving me a confused look.
I grinned, "She's awake. Avery's awake!"
