11- It's Not Over Yet

Avery giggled as I felt a splatter of paint go across my back. I gasped dramatically and turned around to see my wife covering her mouth.

"Avery Grimm," I smirked.

"Yes, baby?" She asked innocently.

I stepped towards her, "Are we having a paint fight?"

She shook her head, "No." She smiled sweetly.

I rolled my eyes, and quickly pressed my lips to hers. I placed my hand on her growing bump, where my little girl was growing.

"You're lucky I love you, Avery Elaine," I smiled.

"I love you too, Caleb Andrew." She grinned.

I kissed her cheek as I ran my paint brush across her belly. Leaving a streak of lavender paint. She gasped and bit her lip, a small smile playing her face.

I stepped back, looking at the paint job I just did. It didn't look bad, for being done by just me. And of course, Juliet tried to help, but she got bored and I wouldn't let her put princess stickers on the wall.

"Daddy!" Juliet yelled, "Uncle Alan and Aunt Brycie is here!"

"Let 'em in, baby!" I called back.

I heard the footsteps of my band member and his wife, and they stopped at the door.

"Hey, its looking pretty good." Alan complimented.

"Thank you." I smiled slightly, "I'm thinking about painting his name as well. I just don't have a name yet."

Brycie smiled as she gave me a side hug, "You still have a few more months."

I sighed, "I know. It's just a tough decision, especially without Avery with me."

Alan placed his hand on my shoulder, giving it a gentle squeeze. He gave me a reassuring smile.

"God has her, bro. It's not over yet. He's still writing our stories." Alan stated.

"It's not over yet." I mumbled.

"Daddy!" Juliet whined.

Brycie laughed, "I hear that way too much."

"Yeah, baby?" I asked, turning to look at her.

"Can I put princess stickers on the wall now?" She questioned.

"No, Juliet." I answered, "The baby won't want princess stickers."

She pouted, "Why not?"

"He just won't, okay? Do you like car stickers?" I replied.

She shook her head, "No."

"Okay." I smiled, "Let's wait to put stickers on the wall."

She nodded sadly, "Okay."

Juliet smiled as the baby moved. She was excited, beyond that. Seeing Juliet like this made me wonder why didn't have another baby sooner. Then again, God has everything planned. In His hands.

She giggled, "Why does he keep moving?"

"He likes for us to know that he's still in there." I smiled.

"When will he be here?" She asked.

"Very soon, baby." I answered.

Juliet giggled as she kissed Avery's belly, earning another reaction from the baby. Juliet was going to be such a good sister. Even if she was 7 years older.

"What's his name?" She asked.

"I haven't come up with a name yet. Do you wanna help?" I replied.

She nodded, "Yeah!"

"Do like the name Ethan?" I questioned.

She shook her head, "Nuh-uh."

"Okay." I mumbled, "What about Zeke?"

"Nope."

"What about Andrew?" I asked.

"No." She answered.

"How about Phoenix?" I questioned.

She nodded, "I like that one."

I smiled, "There we go. Baby Phoenix."

"Can we call him Nixie?" She grinned.

"Sure." I shrugged.

She laughed, putting her hand back on Avery's tummy. Baby Phoenix was definitely liking the attention from his sister. Even in times of trial, I was blessed.

I had my daughter, a son on the way, and at least my wife was still alive. That's what mattered the most. My family was still beating.

Juliet skipped into the office, a big grin on her face. She ran over to Chad and sat on his lap.

"Well, hi there, miss Juliet." He laughed.

"Hi uncle Chad." She smiled.

"Wow. Both of you seem happy." Alan noted.

I nodded, "Yeah. Juliet seems to be happy about being a big sister, and she helped me come up with a name."

"What is it?" Chad asked.

"Juliet likes Phoenix. So, then I came up with Phoenix Kane." I answered.

"Baby Nixie likes to move a lot. Especially when he gets kisses." Juliet stated.

"You're gonna be a great big sister," Chad grins.

"Can I draw a picture for baby Nixie?" She asked.

"Sure thing, kiddo. Whatever you want." He nodded.

Chad reached over his desk, and grabbed some paper and different colored pens. Juliet giggled and took a colored pen, scribbling on the paper.

"What are you gonna draw, sweetheart?" Joey asked.

"I'm gonna draw me, daddy and Momma!" She exclaimed.

Alan laughed, shaking his head, "Caleb, you've got a little spitfire."

"That's all her mother, man." I smiled, "Avery was just like that."
