January 30th
Once more Halia walked through the gates of the cemetery, but this time she wasn't alone. A man with brown hair and hazel eyes followed her. His face was unshaven and he looked very serious, as if a spark of laughter had once been their but had fizzled.
They strolled in and sat down in the snow. The winter wind added pink to Halia's cheeks.
"Hey, Ly, guess who's with me!" Halia tried her best to sound joyful. She gestured to the man she had entered with. "It's Aiden! You remember this goofball right?"
Aiden gave a weak smile. "I hope so. It hasn't been that long."
Imaginary Lysander smiled at seeing his other best friend. He turned to Halia.
'Did you tell him?' He would have asked.
"No..." Halia fiddled with her hands.
'Well, do it! He's your friend, isn't he?'
"You're right. I'll tell him." Halia said.
Aiden looked between Halia and the grave with a strange look on his face. She had an odd way of copping.
"Tell me what?"
The Lysander Halia imagined nodded as if to say, 'Well, go ahead.'
Halia took a deep breath. "I did something... I got drunk and had a one night stand."
Aiden nodded. "Okay, got it. What else?"
"I'm only telling you this because you're one of my closest friends... I'm pregnant." Halia admitted. Snowflakes fell on her eyelashes.
Aiden appeared shocked for what seemed like an hour to the nervous Halia. After a minute he smiled.
"It's not mine, is it?" He joked, breaking the tension. He had never slept with Halia, of course.
Halia felt her let out a laugh, a real laugh for the first time in what felt like forever. Tears began streaming down her face. She blamed it on the hormones.
"I wish Ly was here. Really here." Halia cried. Aiden pulled her into a hug.
Lysander would have smiled sadly at them. He would have wanted his friends to continue to live their lives without pain. He wouldn't have wanted to cause their pain. But it didn't matter what he would have wanted.
He wasn't there.
