Let It Be

Hours later, all of the girls came back home and were now piled up next to Stevie in bed.

They hugged her and gave her kisses on her cheek and told her how glad they were that she was okay.

Aria of course has a death grip on Stevie and wouldn't let go. She had laid her head on Stevie's chest and an arm was wrapped around Stevie's abdomen.

Once the girls had their time with Stevie, they all went to their own rooms to change out of their school uniforms and to do any homework they had.

Aria stayed laying down with Stevie and Stevie held her close. She sang to Aria and she couldn't help but get emotional.

If this pregnancy went well, Aria would no longer be the baby of the family.

Stevie wiped her tears away before Aria could see. She then smiled. Even though she had a lot of fears about the pregnancy, she was so happy for this new little life that would be joining her family.

The next morning, Stevie woke up and found Sulamith cuddled up into her belly.

Lindsey had woken up to get their daughters to school. He let Stevie sleep in because she had been up a few times throwing up throughout the night.

Lindsey would come back so he could take her to her doctors appointment.

Stevie had called her doctor before the girls had gotten home and her doctor was able to fit her into her schedule.

Stevie smiled at her dog and patted Sulamith's head. The small dog looked up at her. Her tail began to wag and Sulamith stood up then licked Stevie's face.

Stevie giggled then hugged her dog close. She was about to close her eyes and go back to sleep, but then a wave of nausea came over her.

Stevie sat up and let go of Sulamith then rushed to the bathroom.

She began to heave and as soon she made it to the toilet, she vomited into it.

Sulamith was quickly by her side trying her best to comfort Stevie.

After a few minutes, Stevie's stomach was now empty. She flushed the toilet and sat back for a moment. She was resting and gathering her strength again.

Sulamith climbed onto Stevie's lap and looked up at her with her puppy dog eyes.

Stevie smiled weakly and said. "Mommy's, okay. Don't tell anyone. I'm going to have a baby." She whispered. "Isn't that exciting?"

Sulamith turned her head the side and stared at Stevie. Stevie chuckled and patted Sulamith's fur.

After a while, Stevie stood up from the bathroom floor and walked over to the sink. She brushed her teeth then decided to get ready.

By the time Lindsey came back home, Stevie was in the middle of brushing her hair.

He kissed her lips and smiled at her. "How you feeling this morning?"
"I'm feeling okay. Just nervous." Stevie replied. "I just want to hear that our baby is okay."

"Everything will be fine. I just have a feeling." Lindsey said with a smile.

Stevie couldn't help but calm down thanks to Lindsey's positive attitude.

"Now, finish getting ready." Lindsey said as he walked towards the doorway. "Sara has breakfast waiting for you."
"Okay, I'll be down in a few minutes." Stevie said.

It was Sara's last day of staying with her parents. The night before Sara spoke to Michael and he was happy that Sara was coming home.

Stevie made her way downstairs a few minutes later. Sara greeted her and motioned her to sit down to eat breakfast.

Stevie thanked her and began to eat. She was really thankful that the breakfast Sara prepared had settled well in her stomach.

Soon it was time for Stevie and Lindsey to leave. Sara had wanted to go with them to the doctor appointment but Stevie convinced Sara to stay at the house. She told Sara it was just a check up and it shouldn't take too long.

Stevie didn't want to risk Sara finding out so soon about the baby.

Sara stayed behind and packed her things so she could go home later tonight with Michael.

Stevie and Lindsey got to their appointment with a few minutes to spare. Stevie signed in and said hello to the nurses that she knew.

She has been to the same doctor for the past ten years. Since she was pregnant with Destiny.

Everyone was respectful and Stevie and Lindsey were able to wait in the waiting room in peace.

Soon, Stevie's name was called out and she and Lindsey held each other hands as they followed a nurse into an empty exam room.

Stevie was instructed to change into a gown and she now waited anxiously for her doctor.

She sat on the exam table, a thin paper sheet covered her bottom half. She swung her legs gently back on forth, staring at the floor.

Lindsey stood beside and put his hand on her thigh. She stilled her legs and she sighed.

"Everything is going to be fine, Steph." He said.

Lindsey then hugged Stevie and she rested her head in his chest. She wrapped her arms around him and took a deep breath.

Lindsey pulled away and kissed her lips. He was very sweet and was doing his best to comfort his wife.

Finally Stevie smiled up at him and she said. "I love you."
"I love you, too." He replied.

A knock on the door interrupted their moment.

Lindsey kissed Stevie's forehead then he stepped back to her side and held her hand.

The doctor walked into the room and had a smile on her face.

"Well, well...I hear there will be a new baby Buckingham coming soon." She said with a giggle. "Congratulations, Stevie and Lindsey."

Stevie and Lindsey smiled at her and Stevie said. "Thank you, Meredith."

Meredith Grey was a young doctor but she was the best OB-GYN in the city and also the best neonatal surgeon.

"Let's get started." Meredith said.

Meredith checked Stevie vitals and such, then asked Stevie to lie back.

Meredith pressed her hands gently on Stevie's abdomen.

"Hmmm...from what I can feel, you seem to be about eight weeks along." Meredith said. "But, when we do the ultrasound, I'll be able to make sure if I am right."

Stevie took everything in, and so far, things were going well.

Now, it was time, for the ultrasound.

Once Meredith set up the machine and now ran the transducer around Stevie's belly.

Stevie looked at the screen in anticipation. Lindsey holding her hand and he too waited with anticipation.

Meredith stop at a spot and Stevie saw the small pea size being on the screen.

Tears appeared in her eyes and she smiled. She wiped away the tears and Lindsey kissed her hand that he held.

They stared into each other's eyes for a moment; they weren't sure for what was to come and what could happen, however, they were very much excited for this new addition to their family.

Meredith studied the screen and said. "Well, I was wrong. That's a first!" She giggled. "You are not eight weeks. You're six weeks. Now, let's hear the heartbeat."

Dr. Grey pushed a button on the machine and instantly the sound of the baby's heartbeat filled the room.

Stevie's tears returned and she felt a little relief hearing her baby's beating heart. She smiled wide as happy tears rolled down her cheeks.

"I hear a strong heartbeat, Stevie." Meredith said with a smile. "I'll print out some photos of your baby and we'll soon finish up here."

Stevie nodded, too emotional to say anything.

Once the ultrasound was over, Stevie was sitting back up and was listening to Dr. Grey explain a few things.

"Everything is looking great. You and the baby are doing well." Meredith said. "Now...you are over fifty, so this is a high risk pregnancy. But I feel confident that with proper care and if I keep a close eye on the both of you, you will deliver a healthy baby."
"Thank you, Meredith." Stevie said feeling slightly better. She trusted Meredith completely and knew she would help her through this pregnancy.

Meredith went over a few things then prescribed Stevie some prenatal vitamins and also some medication to help with morning sickness.

"Again, congratulations you two." Meredith said as she hugged Stevie then Lindsey. "I'll see you both in two weeks."
"Thank you." Lindsey and Stevie said in unison.

Some time later, Stevie sat in the passenger seat and stared at the ultrasound photo. Lindsey drove and was in his own world.

Stevie was feeling optimistic but in the very back of her mind, she knew because of her age that there was still a risk for many health issues for not only her, but for the baby as well.

Stevie sent up a silent prayer for her baby. She prayed that her pregnancy went well and that the baby will be born healthy.

As Lindsey drove, he sent up a silent prayer of his own. I love my daughters and wouldn't trade them for the world. But please, let it be boy.

I hope you all are still enjoying this story. I also hope you all don't mind that I added Meredith Grey to this story and that instead of a general surgeon, I made her a OB-GYN.

I love Grey's Anatomy and Meredith is one of my favorite characters.

Anyway, what do you all think the baby is? Will Lindsey's prayers finally be answered?
