Tessa

*A few minutes before Vincent let Leo free*

I stayed in the car crossing my arms. Nate told me to stay hidden in there. He said if Ares' men saw me, they would tell him and they would never let me take part in this.

I didn't really know who Ares was, but I assumed he was the boss. I wanted nothing to do with him.

I had my arms crossed and was bouncing my leg, waiting impatiently for all of them to get in already. I couldn't stand the thought that Leo was somewhere in that territory and he was probably held tied up or worse. No matter how many times I told myself I shouldn't be with a person like that I couldn't bring myself to believe he was a bad person.

He wouldn't have saved me so many times if he was a bad person. He wouldn't be so caring, understanding and protective.

Or maybe I was just blindly in love with him.

I waited and waited until I couldn't anymore. My thoughts were driving me crazy.

What if it was too late? What if they could've save him and they got in trouble instead.

I didn't know why I thought I would make a difference. Those were trained killers and I was just a random girl who just knew only a little more than the basics of fighting and shooting thanks to my dad, but I couldn't sit around and do nothing.

"Fuck this" I mumbled getting the gun Nate gave me in case of emergency and the knife I always carry and got out of the car.

I sneaked past "Ares' men". They didn't know I was there and were too busy on their "mission" so they weren't paying attention to me.

The area around the building was full of guards. That's why the men were divided in teams of two or three, taking so long to get inside, and tried to be as quiet as possible and not attract attention. They weren't a lot, a couple more than 10 maybe, but I was sure they could do their job well.

One of the teams acted as a bait for the guards so that most of them would leave the area. I took this opportunity when I saw a part of the territory uncovered and ran there as quietly as I could. I saw a window and decided it would be a good idea to get in that way so that no one would see me.

But how am I supposed to climb up a flat surface?

I took a few steps back.

Maybe if I try to run on the wall and then hold the sill of the window?

It sounded too hard but I was willing to give it a try. I had to be quick.

I took a few more steps back and took a deep breath before running towards the wall and jumping on it, but I only managed to take step once on the wall and then fell on my butt.

"Fuck, ouch!" I whispered rubbing my butt, "Let me try this again" I said to myself, taking a few steps back again and tried again, but the same thing happened.

This would be easier if there was a tree nearby but of course this is hard. It's real life after all. Not a game.

"I need to do this. Okay" I told myself getting ready to try another time, "Third time is the charm"

Leo is probably so good at this. I'll tell him to teach me after we're out of here.

If we ever get out of here.

I need to stop being negative. We will get out of here.

I took a deep breath again and ran towards the wall and this time I made it and held the window sill. It was hard to not give up and fall, my fingers were holding on to it for dear life and I was trying to stay quiet and not grunt from the tension I felt.

I'm going to fall.

No, I can't fall now.

I looked inside and saw no one around. The window was closed and I had to find a quiet way to open it or break it and quickly.

Fuck it I'll just use my knife and run.

I took out my knife with one of my hands, the other turning white from holding onto the tiny surface for so long.

I banged it on the window a few times getting frustrated since it wouldn't crack easily. When it finally did, I lifted myself up and climbed inside. I couldn't avoid cutting my hands in the process, but I tried to not make another sound.

Now my hands are bleeding. That's great.

I didn't even get a chance to relax and enjoy my accomplishment because as soon as I stood up straight I heard someone running towards this room.

I need to get out of here.

I ran out of the room and stayed outside the room.

"The window is cracked and there's blood on the glass" I heard a male voice.

"Fuck someone is here. We need to tell the boss. Quickly." He said.

Not if I have anything to do with it.

I checked the door and noticed there were keys on the keyhole. I closed the door and locked it.

This should make this a bit harder for them.

"Did you hear that?" I heard one of them say, but I didn't get to hear the other one's reply because I started walking away as fast as I could, still trying to be quiet.

Where am I supposed to go now? What am I supposed to do? This was a stupid idea.

I kept walking, carefully, looking around to see if there were any guards, but there weren't any. That was until I saw a body on the ground. He was stabbed.

Ares men must've-

I gagged at the sight and decided to just keep walking and walking. I didn't want to see it or think about it.

I can't believe Leo is part of this.

I walked past a couple more of...them. I ignored them for my own good. I kept going until I found a staircase going up.

If they keep prisoners somewhere it's probably not on the highest floor and this flood doesn't seem to have anyone other than guards. There's probably another floor that's lower. A basement.

I decided not to go up the stairs and just turned the other way and took a different path, still careful everytime I took a turn and still trying to hear if anyone was nearby.

I saw a few guards around and felt my heart beat rise.

I need to get to the other side without them seeing me. If they see me it's game over.

I was behind some old furniture and I could see the inside of a room on my right.

Maybe if I get them to think I'm in there...

I took out my shoe and threw it inside trying to make the bottle I could see on the table inside the room fall.

I smiled as I saw it fall and shatter on the floor.

"Hey that came from that room"

"No I think that came from the one next to it", The stupid guards looked confused and I took the opportunity and ran to the other side before walking away fast.

I'm good at this.

I was proud of myself, until I felt someone grabbing me and pulling me inside a room.

"Game over little girl" The smirking man said.

I could tell he wasn't one of Ares' men since their only mission was the save Leo and they wouldn't care about me wandering around.

"What? No where to go now?"

I pointed the gun at him and he raised his eyebrows in surprised and put his hands up, "Wow calm down, I thought we were getting along"

"Shut up before I shut you up for good" I said.

He chuckled, "You wouldn't dare" He said.

I tilted my head and gripped the gun tighter.

He's right. I can't take someone's life.

"Come on, shoot me. I'm waiting" He said with a stupid smirk on his face.

"You're pushing your luck. I'm the one with the gun" I said.

"And I know you're not going to use it"

I looked at his annoying face my thoughts running through my head. There must be another way.

"You either do it and get on with your little plan, or you get caught by other guards. They're on their way here" He said.

I looked down in doubt.

Coming here was a stupid idea.

Leo

"Na-" Vincent hand covered my mouth before I could say anything else.

"Keep quiet" He whispered.

"It's Nate. He's alone, we have to help him" I said feeling like my heart was about to beat out of my chest.

"You can barely move and I can't leave you alone. Anything could happen" He said.

"You have a gun, right? We can still shoot them from here"

"Leo, We'll get caught" He said.

"I don't care! I can't leave him alone" I said.

I looked at Nate again, He was trying his best but he was outnumbered. He was one and they were four.

Well three now, I guess.

"He doesn't need our help, look. I promise if it gets too tough I'll go help him out, okay?" He said.

"But what if it's too late-"

The sound of Nate's sigh of relief cut me off and I looked at him. Every guard was now on the ground and he was catching his breath.

"You would think you people would be better at this. Your boss is like twice the age of mine. He should know better" He said.

"Nate!" I yelled and tried to run to him, but I was too hurt.

He widened his eyes and looked at our direction before running to me and putting his hands on my shoulders.

"Are you okay? Oh gosh, you're hurt" His voice full of worry as he cupped my face and analyzed my injuries, "But you're safe. Thank you, Vincent. You really don't know how important your job was and you did it perfectly" He said.

I looked at Vincent. He looked so proud with a kind smile on his slightly red face as he nodded and said, "Thank you"

"Now what?" I asked.

"Now you get out of here and leave the rest to us"

"What? No, I'm not leaving you alone. There must be something I can do I-"

"Don't even think about it. You're barely holding on. We need to get you to a hospital and quick" He said.

I looked down in defeat.

"Leo, please" Vincent said, "They'll be okay"

I sighed and then nodded and Nate smiled at me, but then his face changed drastically, "B-before you go. There's...something I need to tell you" He said.

I raised an eyebrow, "What did you do?" I asked, "Is is about Tessa?"

"Well-yes-"

I immediately felt panic, "Is she safe?" I asked desperately looking for an answer.

"Yes, of course she is" He said scratching the back of his neck.

"You're lying, Nate I know you're fucking lying!" I yelled.

"Please, be quiet. They'll hear us" He said.

"Tell me, is she fucking safe?" I said glaring at him.

He sighed, "She's here okay?" He said making my heart almost jump out of my chest.

"What?" I asked, my voice weak with worry.

"She's inside your car. Vincent will take you there. It's near the building but far enough and hidden so that they don't see it. I didn't let her come inside" He said.

I sighed in relief and closed my eyes trying to calm myself down

"Please be safe, okay?" I told him once I was calm enough.

"Go see your girl" He said and patted my back.

I nodded and left with Vincent. We exited the building easily. Our men had gotten rid of most of the guards and the rest, Vincent took care of since I couldn't.

He lead me to the car and I smiled at the thought of seeing her. Maybe, just maybe, she would give me another chance.

I was also angry at her for coming here. Why did this stupid girl put herself in danger for me. I couldn't even be happy that she cared about me. It would be better if she didn't give a fuck about me if that meant she's safe.

The closer we got to the car the more I found myself smiling.

The only thing I want to do after this long day is hold her in my arms. Hold onto her and never let go, if she lets me. I thought I had lost her forever, but now I had hope again.

However, all my hopes were crushed when Vincent opened the door and there was no Tessa.

"Vincent, where is she?" I asked slowly trying to keep calm.

I was waiting for him to tell me she was never here and it that it was a joke, or that this is the wrong car. I was even waiting for Tessa to pop up from behind the car and say something like 'surprise!' or 'got you!"

But his face said it all.

Something was terribly wrong.

"Leo, please stay calm"

"Please, tell me this is a joke" My voice cracked as I felt my eyes fill with tears.

How can I ever find her? Did they take her? Did she go in like the stupid girl that she is? Did she run because someone was onto her? So many possibilities.

"Leo, it's okay she's probably safe inside. Our men are taking care of it"

"You don't get it! I can't trust anyone when it comes to her safety" I said trying hard to hold back my tears. I didn't know why I felt like crying. I was so frustrated and I felt so anxious and uncomfortable without her.

"It's okay-"

"We're going back inside"

"We can't-"

"I said we're fucking going back inside!" I yelled.

"Leo, you really need to see a doctor. You're heavily hurt. You won't make it"

"I don't care, please just let's go back inside, I'm begging you. I can't let anything happen to her. Please" I said, my voice shaky as I was now letting my tears run freely as I held his shirt and looked into his eyes.

He sighed and closed his eyes, "Fine" He said.

"I owe you" I smiled at him.

"Let's just go"

We walked back to the building with him supporting me. It was easy getting inside again. We were walking around the building trying to find any sign of her.

"Let's check this room, the door is broken down" He said walking in.

I nearly gasped at what I saw. The window was broken and there was blood on the glass.

Could it be her blood? There's no way any of our men got in that way.

"L-Let's keep going. We don't know for sure whose that is" He said awkwardly and kept walking.

We checked other rooms and there was no sign of her. That was until we got to a room close to some old furniture.

"Vincent" I said and gulped as I looked at the shoe on the floor, "Vincent that's her shoe" I said feeling nauseous.

The thought of anything happening to her made me sick to my stomach.

"Y-you can't be sure, it's just sneaker-"

"It's her fucking shoe, I know it all too well" I said.

"Well, we know she's here now let's keep going"

"Tsk tsk" We heard a voice behind us.

Vincent got out his gun and aimed at his direction. Only to see a four guards next to him pointing their guns at us.

Reid.

"Did you really think it would be that easy?" He asked.

"Our men have surrounded the building. You won't get away. Just give up now" Vincent said.

"Your men think that you two are safe outside of here and that all the guards are dead. The only ones around are that pest, Nate and maybe a couple more" He said.

"W-well they'll find us. You still won't get away"

"Not if I get rid of you first and leave" He said, "I can do it in one second"

I looked around. I saw Nate hiding behind the corner. I looked at Vincent. He looked back at me and then I looked at Nate.

I hope he notices them.

I saw Nate nodding at Vincent and a second later they all shot at the guards. They were fast enough to take them all down.

That was easy.

I held back a laugh as I saw Reid's smirk turn into an angry expression.

"It's over, just give up" Nate said getting out of his hiding spot.

But to our surprise, Reid got out a gun and shot Nate in the leg, he fell down groaning in pain and Reid took the opportunity to try to take his gun.

Nate tried to fight him but Reid squeezed his wound and Nate was in too much pain to hold onto the gun so Reid ended up taking it. Meanwhile, Vincent tried to shoot Reid, only to find out he was out of bullets.

Fuck.
