Chapter 2

After taking my foreign language class, which was American Sign Language, I went to my last class of the day. Science.

When I entered, I immediately noticed Jack, Miko, and Raf. This seemed to be the only class we all had together, and the first class I had with Miko. Whatever Miko was about to say wouldn't leave my mind.

Decepti-what?

I shrugged to myself as I took a seat in the front, waiting for class to start. I saw Vince enter the room, and looked away. This guy didn't seem so nice after all, from what he had been doing to Jack at lunch. He sat down next to me.

I pretty much ignored him the entire class period, even though he tried getting my attention multiple times. Once the bell rang, I was the first out. Miko caught up with me at the steps, grabbing my arm.

"Hey!" she greeted cheerfully, before she continued on as if nothing happened. I raised an eyebrow, wondering what that was about. I watched Miko meet up with Jack and Raf, and watched Jack leave on his bike when an olive green SUV-thing and a black-and-yellow muscle car pulled up to the curb. Miko got in the SUV while Raf got in the muscle car. I thought nothing of it and started walking home.

I entered the garage door passcode and waited for the door to fully open before stepping inside. I closed the door after me, and was greeted by the silence of our house.

It made sense, my mom was out on a job interview, and my dad was currently working for the company that transferred him, and my little sister Lillian was still at school herself. I walked into my room and shrugged off my backpack, it suddenly feeling very heavy, and kicked off my shoes. I tucked my long brown hair into a messy bun to keep from sweltering in the Nevada heat, even with our air conditioning working, and rummaged through my backpack for the homework I was supposed to do. I settled down on my bed with it.

About halfway into my math problems I heard the school bus pass by our house, heading toward it's normal stop. After about five minutes I heard my seven-year-old sister enter the house.

"Cassidy! Where are you?"

I rolled my eyes, getting up from my bed. I couldn't exactly shout back to tell her I was in my room.

I walked out, saying something in American Sign Language. My family had learned it so I wouldn't have to write everything down to communicate with them. Lillian was still learning.

"I know you can't reply. I call anyway because it saves me time to see where you were than to look around. And why are you asking about apple juice?"

I shook my head, disappearing back into my room.

Once I completed my math problems, which took a great deal of effort and memorization, I walked back out, having nothing else to do. I played with my phone for a bit before I got a text.

Hey, you doing anything tonight? -Miko.

I replied.

How did you get my number?

I...might've looked at your phone during lunch?

I smiled.

Anyway, I'm not doing much, why?

I didn't get a reply for a while, and completely forgot about the conversation when my mom came home, followed soon by my dad. I waved at them in greeting, before Lillian bounced over and the three started talking excitedly. I felt another buzz in my pocket. It was a text from Miko.

I set up a group message with Jack and Raf.

I switched over to the group message, eventually adding Raf and Jack into my contacts.

Miko had an idea for us to show you around Jasper. -R.

The 'entertainment capital of the world?'-C.

The brochure lied. -J.

I rolled my eyes at Jack's reply.

Obviously. -C.

Anyway, come on! Jack got the day off work and his mom let him borrow her car. -M.

Okay then. -C.

We'll pick you up at 6:30. -J.

I turned off my phone at that, before my Dad asked me how my day was.

"Fine," I signed to him. "I met a few people."

"Any of them guys?" My mom asked; which made me roll my eyes as I held up two fingers.

"Arm's length," my dad warned, which made me roll my eyes again.

"They're going to show me around town later today," I signed back as my reply.

"Can I come?" Lillian asked excitedly. I purposefully ignored her. My parents luckily didn't notice.

Eventually I didn't have to be the focus of the conversation and I zoned out as they were talking. Eventually 6:30 came, and so did a text from my phone. I waved goodbye to my parents and walked outside, notebook in hand and pencil perched on my ear.

"Hiya!" Miko greeted, waving wildly from the passenger seat. I smiled, sitting in the back with Raf.

"How's life?" Jack asked, and I shrugged as he drove down the streets of Jasper. He turned on an intersection, and stopped at a fast food place.

"You hungry? This place has more than just hamburgers, believe me, I know," Jack muttered. I smiled, before we entered the restaurant, and we ended up getting milkshakes and walked outside with them, deciding to walk around town.

"Brain freeze," Miko muttered, which made Raf chuckle.

"Sphenopalatine ganglioneuralgia is the scientific term for that," he replied, making Miko choke on her milkshake.

"Nerd alert," she said after a fit of coughing.

"How do you say that?" Jack exclaimed. Raf shrugged. I threw my empty milkshake container in a nearby trash can.

"So, that's just a random building, we have a ton of those here," Miko said, pretending to give me a tour. Jack rolled his eyes and I smiled as Miko kept pointing to random buildings.

June Darby's P.O.V.

"I understand," I said to the doctor on the other side of the line. "I'll be there as soon as I can."

I grabbed my purse, before remembering Jack had the car. I sighed, dialing his number. I got his voicemail after a few rings.

"Hey, it's Jack. I can't answer 'cuz I'm probably out saving the world right now."

I rolled my eyes. "You really need a better voicemail," I said to no one in particular. I thought about Ratchet. I didn't want to bother him, but I needed to be back at the hospital...

I dialed the base's number.

"Optimus?"

I must've interrupted them on a mission.

"No, Ratchet, its June Darby. I was hoping you could do me a favor," she replied.

"Nurse Darby, I'm fairly busy at the moment-" something cut him off, and a few seconds later he talked to me again.

"What do you need?"

"I was just called back to the hospital for an emergency, but Jack has my car, he's taking the other kids out. Do you mind giving me a lift?"

I heard a heavy sigh from the other end of the phone.

"I'll be there in a few minutes," Ratchet replied, and he hung up the phone. I walked outside, waiting for him.

A few minutes later he pulled up, and I got inside.

"Thank you," I said as he started driving off, with no reply.

A few minutes later we pulled up at the hospital, and I wasted no time getting out, rushing into the building.

Ratchet's P.O.V.

I pulled back out of the parking lot, heading back to base. I decided to take a small detour and see what the kids were up to, just so I could see why I had to leave the base to give Nurse Darby a ride.

I looked for Jack's cell phone signal, but couldn't find it. I could see Raf's and Miko's, and followed those.

I drove for a bit before realizing I was near the place Jack worked. I saw Nurse Darby's car in the parking lot, but Miko and Raf's cell phone signal told me they were about a block and a half away.

Cassidy's P.O.V.

The four of us were walking down a road that hadn't been used in years, or so Jack said. We were starting to enter the desert-ish side of Nevada than staying within the actual city side. Miko had decided we had to listen to Slash Monkey, but I was the only one willing to give it a try. I stuck the earbud in one of my ears as I listened to the off-beat rhythm of heavy metal.

"Cool, right?" Miko said a bit loudly. I shrugged, not really knowing how I felt about the music. I looked at the scenery around me as it continued playing, and then I felt the world around me suddenly get brighter from behind.

"Cassidy!" someone called as I heard something screeching, and then everything blacked out.

~~~
Okay. Welp. I don't really know what to put here. (Just watch, it's take up half a page because I figured out what to say).
Okay, so Sphenopalatine ganglioneuralgia is an actual thing. It really is the scientific term for "brain freeze" (Nerd Alert).
(Spen-o-pal-eh-teen gangly-inner-al-gia is the best way I could show you how to say it after having google translate say it 100+ times. :P)
And yes, since I suck at descriptions, that is Cassidy up at the top. -_- (LOOK AT 'EDIT:' SECTION BELOW).
And as for Jack's voicemail, you cannot call yourself a TFP fan if you don't realize that's what it actually says in one episode. (Don't worry, you can, you should just be ashamed of yourself. :P )
And hopefully you can guess who was saying what in the texting part of the chappy.
So many P.O.V.'s in this chappy. XD
Again, 6 pages on Word and 4 on Watty. (Unless you're using the app. *cough* Trans *cough* :])
...I don't know what else to say, except I bet you can figure out what happened at the end.
And I can't type anymore. Thank goodness for Auto correct. Seriusly.
*disappears*
EDIT:
I removed the picture because I've decided I'm going to put a quote-picture thing as the media every chapter (since I liked it so much in chapter 9. :P)
The picture is now in chapter 1.
Thanks,
