The Waitress

Dean awoke the next morning to find Cas still curled up in his lap, snoring softly. Dean smiled. He looked adorable. He actually wasn't sure whether or not he wanted to wake him up. He looked so innocent. He gave him a kiss on the forehead.

"Cas." He whispered in a sing-song voice. Cas stirred.

"Five minutes." Dean's smile grew brighter.

"Close your eyes,

Give me your hand, darling.

Do you feel my heart beating?

Do you understand?" Cas joined in.

"Do you feel the same?

Am I only dreaming?

Or is this burning

An eternal flame?

I believe

It's meant to be, darling.

I watch you when you are sleeping.

You belong with me.

Do you feel the same?

Am I only dreaming?

Or is this burning

An eternal flame?"

They looked at each other and laughed. They kissed.

"Will you get up now?" Cas shrugged.

"What's in it for me?" He bit his lip. Dean started grinning like an idiot. He stood up, carrying Cas in his arms bridal style. They kissed some more. It's like they forgot all about the previous night. They kept kissing until Dean looked at him.

"Let's get some breakfast."

Dean drove them to the nearby diner where they got their breakfast. They were finding it difficult to keep their hands off each other. But they managed. They took their order and proceeded to just talk.

"What would I do without you?" Cas asked.

"I don't know. Just like I don't know what I'd ever do if I didn't have you. Nothing good, I'm sure." They both smiled.

"You're too sweet for your own good." The waitress came back with their order. Dean wasn't sure he liked the way Cas was looking at her. But he let the thought slide. He cleared his throat.

"So. Do you think we should...talk about last night?" Cas froze for a second.

"No. Why would we? My dad got too drunk and I payed the price. What's there to talk about?" He took a sip of his coffee. There was a pause.

"I'm sorry. I shouldn't have brought it up."

"It's okay." He mumbled. After some silence, the waitress came back.

"Is everything to your liking?" She asked a bit too perky. Did she know what time it was?

"Yes, it is." Cas answered, giving her a smile that Dean was not at all comfortable with.

"Yeah. Thank you, Bela." He looked at her name tag. She smiled and walked away. Cas sighed.

"I just wish I could run away with you now. Screw the next three years. How about the next three seconds?" Dean smiled.

"You rolled the die. Not me. Besides, three years gives us plenty of time to plan stuff out, you know?"

"I don't want to plan stuff out. I just want to be with you."

"Don't worry. Those three years will come and go quicker than you realize." Cas scoffed.

"Doubt it." They finished their breakfast and the waitress came back with the check. And Dean was positive he saw her wink at Cas. Cas didn't react beyond smiling awkwardly at her. Dean couldn't help but feel a little anxious. Who did this chick think she was?

They returned to Dean's house, although Cas was pretty sure his dad was expecting him home by now. They went inside and Cas sat at the couch.

"Do you think we should go see a movie?" He asked.

"I don't know, but I bet that waitress would love to go see one with you." Cas tilted his head to the side, confused.

"What?"

"Oh, come on. You saw the way she was looking at you."

"What, are you jealous?"

"No, I'm just saying, I'm pretty sure she was stripping you with her eyes. Apparently, you're friggin eye candy."

"Dean, I would never-"

"I'm just saying, Cas. I know you wouldn't. I guess I'm just paranoid."

"Why would you be paranoid? Don't you trust me?"

"Of course I do. It's just that... in the past, I've never really had a sturdy relationship."

"So what, you're comparing me to your old girlfriends? Is that what you're saying?"

"Come on, Cas. What's with you? Would you stop interrogating me?" Cas approached him.

"Dean, if you trusted me, you wouldn't be so paranoid."

"Well, you know what? I'm sorry for being insecure! Everywhere we go, I see women checking you out! Hell, even at school! What do you want from me, Cas?" There were tears rolling down Dean's face.

"I want a little trust!"

"I trust you! But I don't trust anything else! Or anyone else! I'm trying so hard, man! But every time I see a girl smile at you like that, it hurts. It hurts so much. I mean, every girlfriend I've ever had ended with her legs wrapped around some douchebag's neck!" Cas was crying too, a little.

"You think you have it rough? Because your girlfriends all cheated on you? You don't know the half of it! I am cursed, Dean! I have had three girlfriends my whole life, and do you know what happened to them? They're all dead, Dean! Except for Charlie. She's in a coma! She's in a fucking coma, and it's all because of me!"

"How is that your fault? You tell me how in the hell that is your fault!"

"Charlie got in a car accident. She wasn't supposed to be on the road. Not that night. She was only driving because... because I got too drunk and I needed her to come and pick me up. But no, no. That's nothing compared to your slut of a girlfriend sleeping with another man!"

"Don't talk like that. Don't you dare!"

"My whole life has been hell! And my own father doesn't give a shit! You know, the day I met you was the day you saved my life. I was gonna kill myself that day."

"Don't you say that," Dean spoke through gritted teeth. "Don't even think about saying that!"

"Well, what do you want me to say?! Huh?! Because that's the truth! That's the gods honest truth of it, Dean!" They were both sobbing. They were looking each other in the eye. Soon Cas looked away. He began to walk toward the door.

"Where are you going?"

"Home."

"What are you gonna tell your dad when you go home like that? That you got in a fight with your faggot boyfriend?" Cas turned to face him.

"Don't talk like that."

"Why not? It's true, isn't it? It's the gods honest truth of it. We both are. You and I. You seem to love the truth, don't you?"

"Don't you tell me about the truth! There's still something you haven't been straightforward about!"

"And what's that?"

"Why me? Why would you take any interest in me?" Dean paused.

"Because you had no idea who I was. I thought I could start fresh. And instead of a girlfriend, why not play for the other team? That's what I was thinking. Why not? But now... I love you far too much," They both stopped to take a breath. "Just get out."

"Dean-"

"Get out!" He yelled. Cas stood there for a while, but he soon stormed out, slamming the door behind him. Dean began to sob. He punched the wall with so much force it caused his knuckles to bleed. But he didn't care. He fell to his knees and buried his face in his hands. The pain in his hand was nothing compared to the ache in his heart. How could he yell at Cas like that? It was the waitress flirting with him, not the other way around. Why would he do that? He hated seeing Cas cry. He loved him, and now he hurt him. And he hated himself for it.
