11:11
Dean and Cas jumped in the Impala and just started driving. They weren't sure where they were going, but they knew they just had to get as far away from Cas's dad as possible.
"Should we call the police or something?" Cas asked, still sobbing.
"First things first. How did your dad know?"
"I-I'm not sure. I-I walked in the house a-and he started screaming at me. He c-called me a faggot and a-a poor excuse for a s-son. He's g-gonna kill me, Dean."
"Cas, listen to me. He is not gonna kill you. Got that? I will not let that happen. You're my angel. I can't lose you."
They kept driving for what seemed like eternity. Dean was running low on fuel, so they stopped at a gas station. Dean checked the time. 11:05.
He got out and started to refuel, leaving Cas asleep in the passenger seat. He looked in the small building, seeing a suspicious looking man there watching him. It made him a bit anxious, but he shrugged it off.
He filled the tank and was about to go in and pay for the fuel when he saw the suspicious man walk out.
He was headed toward Dean.
Cas woke up in the passenger seat. He looked at his watch. 11:07.
He heard voices outside the car, exchanging heated words. He looked out the window and nearly had a heart attack. It was Dean.
And Castiel's father.
He fumbled with his seatbelt, struggling to unbuckle it, and scrambled out of the car.
"Dad! How did you find us?" He started to cry a little, worried about Dean's safety.
"Well, well. If it isn't the little mistake himself." He laughed cruelly.
"Leave him alone!" Dean snapped at Cas's dad.
"Don't you order me around, boy! This is my son, I'll treat him how I want!"
"Not anymore, asshat. He's staying with me. You got it? He's not gonna take your shit anymore."
"Says who?"
"M-me. I-I s-say." Cas stammered, more scared then he'd ever been in his life.
"Oh really?" He pulled his gun out of his back pocket. Cas yelped when he saw the weapon and jumped backwards a little.
"Cas, don't worry," Dean looked him in the eye. "I won't let him hurt you."
"Aww, isn't that sweet?" Cas's dad sneered. "Joke's on you, Dean-O."
He pointed the gun at Dean.
He put his finger on the trigger.
Cas pushed Dean out of the way.
BANG!
Cas hit the pavement.
Neither Dean nor Cas's father were sure what just happened at first. Dean was just in shock. He knelt by Cas's side and took off his jacket, using it to put pressure on the wound.
The gunshot wound.
"Cas, talk to me, baby. Stay with me!" He started sobbing. Cas looked up at him.
"I don't wanna go."
His voice was strained, the sound of it broke Dean's heart.
"Okay... David Tennant." He played along. Cas managed a small smile. It went away quickly.
"I... I know you s-said you w-wouldn't let m-me get hurt. But... I c-couldn't let s-someone I love g-get k-killed because of," He took in a shaky breath. "Because of me. Not again."
"Don't you say that. Don't you dare." He whispered. He needed to comfort Cas the only way he could think of.
"I can be your hero, baby.
I can kiss away the pain.
I will stand by you forever.
You can take my breath away."
Their song. He knew it was their song.
Dean could barely speak because he was sobbing so hard. He managed a whisper.
"I... love... you." He took in small gasps between words. He could hardly see past his tears.
"Quite right, too." Cas squeaked.
"Come on. Don't do that."
"And... I suppose... if it's my l-last chance to... to say it," He started breathing a bit heavier, still shaky. "Dean Winchester...."
His breathing grew more ragged, he was about to slip into unconsciousness. Dean leaned in and kissed him, as it could've been his last chance. He didn't care if it remained an unfinished sentence.
He knew how it would end.
The last thing he remembered before an ambulance arrived, although Dean didn't remember calling one, was when he took a quick glance at Cas's watch for some reason.
It was 11:11.
