Day 19

"Quiet down everyone!" I shout kindly at the crowd, who I somehow managed to gather in the courtyard at 9 in the morning.

For once, the students eventually calm down and listen. I suppose you would too if your life literally depended on it.

"Ok, so here's what we're gonna do." I begin. "With all these classrooms, there is bound to be something edible in at least a few of them. If we work together, we can find some food in no time! Once you find something, come back and put it on these tables."

I point to the benches on the corners of the quad. Hopefully we will find enough to fill them. On my command, the large group disperses into the four main buildings, a cloud of chatter echoing soon after.

"Hey Clara!" Clove catches up to me after the crowd is gone. "What building are you going to?"

I take a moment to think. "Since everyone's in the classrooms, I suppose I'll go to the music wing."

"Ok, I'll go with you." She smiles. Together we part from the noise and walk to the right corner of the campus, where the music wing sits unlocked and vacant.

The two of us open the double doors, causing the motion sensors to flicker the lights on after two weeks of being inactive. How could no one be in here? The band room is big enough to hold at least 50 people. Strange.

We walk down the hall until we reach the chorus room, and I start to relive all the memories of before. Everyday I came here after sixth period, and everyday the class would wait exactly five minutes before Ms. Donnelly let us in. Of course, she always let the girls in first because there were more of us. And I remember the boys always getting jealous...

"Hey, um, Clara?" Clove snaps me out of my thoughts as she wiggles the door handle.

"Yeah what's up?" I ask.

"I" she lets go of the handle forcefully. "I think the door's locked."

I get closer to the door, inspecting the handles until I find a lock. I can't find a card scanner anywhere.

"Anything yet?" She says curiously.

"Hmm, I think from what I remember, this is one of the few doors that doesn't require an ID card." I say toward no one in particular. "It requires an actual key."

"Do you have a bobby pin or a screwdriver?" She says calmly.

"No, but let me go find one from the others." I say and run out the building.
