Chapter 9: Last one
Distant voices were heard, muffled by the sounds of the sea and wind. Horror felt unsteady, dizzy and nauseous. He's unsure where he is. He could hear the yells getting closer.
He slowly opens his eyes to see fuzzy white silhouettes of people running towards him. He blinked to get a clearer view of the people, and tiredly pushed himself up from the ground.
Horror wasn't sure how he got there but he had other problems to deal with.
"Horror, are you alright? We tried to look for you and the boss when you both fell!"
A hand shook him, trying to get his attention. When he looked up, he saw his eyeless teammate.
"Huh?"
His mind wasn't cleared yet, and he was still dizzy so he could not understand the other male.
"Wait, where's the boss?"
Killer stared at him for a second before nodding his head towards the left where he could see their leader laying on his brother's lap.
"The boss hasn't woken up yet but he's breathing," Killer informed. "After you fell, we tried to come after you but we weren't in luck".
"What hap-"
Before Horror could finish his question, he was tackled by a small skeleton.
Killer had a smirk on his face, which Horror wanted to smack away.
As he looks at the person who tackled him, he realises it was his quiet team mate. Dust's face was buried into the many sheets that wrapped around Horror's body.
"Dust?"
All he got in response were muffled words that Horror could not understand, so he gently nudged the other, further from his ribcage so he could hear the other.
"Could you repeat that?" Horror softly asked.
"You're not hurt, are you?"
The larger male grinned, "I'm fine, Dust. But what happened?"
As the shorter male was about to answer, Killer butted in by explaining what happened to the other.
Apparently, after he and Nightmare had fallen off the ship, the group managed to defeat the sirens and made them retreat. The captain of the ship was so thankful that he didn't kill the group on sight and allowed them to stay on board until they made it to Askerand.
"How long were we gone for?" Horror asked, still holding onto the smaller skeleton.
Dust pushed himself off of the hooded male before answering that they've been missing for 5 hours.
A voice interrupted the trio's conversation. Horror turned towards the voice to see Dream, calling for everyone's attention before announcing a plan.
"We've arrived at Askerand, this should be the place where the last relic should be," Dream informed, pulling out the map and pointing towards their location.
"We must look around this area," before setting off to search for the relic.
As everyone began to dig around the area, Blue began to carry the bag that contained the relics around with him so he could ensure that they were safe.
He wasn't sure where the last relic could be found as the area they were in was all sand beside the vast ocean surrounding the island.
Blue kept walking, his eyes darting around the island to see if he could spot anything. Suddenly, a quiet ping. He paused. 'What was that?' He mumbled, before taking a step forward, only to hear the same ping but louder.
Following the pings, he hit a large object in the sand. He quickly squatted down and began to dig up the object.
Upon digging up the object, he found a medium sized box that looked rusted and worn.
"How do I open this?"
"Need a hand?" Dream asked, smiling down at his comrade.
Blue smiled back, "yeah thanks".
Dream grabs the box, and ripped it open. Shocking the blue clad male.
"What's inside?" Dream asked as if he did not just destroy the chest.
"Uh I- it's a relic," Blue responds, shocked at the amount of strength Dream used to open the box.
"That's great, now we have all of them, we could get out".
"Hey guys, come look at what I found!" Ink yelled, continuing to dig out a large glowing pillar out of the sand.
"What is that?" Dream questioned,
Ink shrugged, "dunno, but it looks cool".
The object in the telling was a glowing pink pillar, that was the size of Ink. It had a long structure, with the top being a pedestal, it had curvy, flowery designs littered around the base.
Nightmare stepped closer to the pillar, closely analysing the structure. It wasn't something he'd seen before, so curiously he reached his hand out to touch the rod but was stopped by Error, who held the King's shirt collar, so he couldn't go closer.
"What do you think you're doing?" Nightmare growled, trying to loosen the destroyer's grip on his shirt.
"What I'm doing is stopping you from doing something careless," Error barked back.
"Careless!" The king gasped, "Me? Careless? What a joke".
The sound of footsteps on the sand stopped the duo from bickering. The footsteps belonged to the pirates that allowed them to cross the seas safely.
"Oh hey Capt-" Ink was punched before being held in place by the said captain,
He wore a crooked grin, and eyed the skeletons who were shocked at the unprovoked attack.
"What are you doing?" Blue yelled, getting in a fighting stance.
The captain barked a laugh, "We want out–" he roared, pointing his metallic finger at them, "and you're what will get us out of here!"
Another pirate took a hold of Nightmare's arms, locking it behind his back.
"Get off of me!" The king yelled, thrashing in the pirate's grasp.
"Get off of him, bastard!" Error growled, before charging up an attack and aimed it at the pirate who held the dark guardian captive.
The attack created a huge blast, sending anyone near it, flying into the air.
Nightmare yelped upon being blasted into the air and was sent flying, once he started falling, he felt himself land in a soft embrace. He looked up to see the destroyer grinning at him. The king returned him with a glare, "you could've killed me!"
"But I didn't," Error chuckled.
"Watch out!" A voice called.
To the right of the duo, was a group of pirates charging at them with their blades, Nightmare held the captain screaming about 'not killing them because they were needed to escape'.
Many attacks were sent around, the group fought and dodged incoming attacks made from the foe.
Dust feels energy inside of himself. He takes a breath in before, releasing a loud yell, gaining the attention of the people around him.
Horror uses this opportunity to sprint behind the enemy and stabbing them.
Following suit, Cross jumped in front of the pirates and knocked them to the ground so Horror could stab them.
The fight was intense, but they made it out victorious.
They watched as some of the bodies disappeared into thin air while
"Now how do we get off this island now?" Dream mumbled to himself, placing a finger on his chin in thought.
He turned around, watching his peers' expression when his eye caught Ink reaching for the glowing pillar from before.
"Ink! Wait, no!" Dream called.
Everyone's vision faded to white for a split second before they saw a familiar broken town they once stepped foot in.
"What happened?"
"This is the place we first started that stupid quest," Dust said.
"Don't tell me that we can teleport to places with that thing?" ___ groaned once realising the use of the structure.
"I believe so," Nightmare quietly responded.
"I found a few, in the other areas we've been in," Horror piped in.
Killer's head snapped towards the taller male, "and you didn't tell us!"
"I-"
"Leave him alone, asshole!" Dust yelled, "He probably didn't know what it was!"
The king pinched his nose bridge, "shut it, both of you," his tendrils separated the two before a fight was started.
Error sighed, "it's like they're a bunch of children".
Eavesdropping, dream piped in, "you'd make a great family," implying the two were a couple with their gremlins.
"Enough of this chit chat, I want to leave–" Nightmare interrupted, ignoring his brother's comment, "now we can defeat the so-called 'beast'," The king used air quotes when mentioning the beast.
"Oh? Back so soon?" A familiar voice called to them.
"Willow!" Blue greeted, waving at the women who sat elegantly in her store, "You're still here?"
"Well yes, why wouldn't I be?" She asked, but continued without letting anyone speak, "Heard you got the five relics, you should be able to defeat the hydra".
"Where is the hydra anyways?" Cross asked, stepping forth to speak with the maiden.
"In that cave of course," She said swiftly, while pointing at the distant cave that sat on top of the mountain that oversaw the now ruined town.
"Oh fuck yeah! Let's go!" Killer cheered, before running off in the direction of the cave.
"Wait!" She exclaimed, "You must remember that for each head, it matches the stone".
"What do you mean by that?" Nightmare asked.
"I can't tell you anymore, I'm sorry," She apologised, "Good luck on your battle!"
The group gave their thanks before following the already ahead murderer to their final battle.
