Chapter 10: Freedom at last

Once outside of the dark cavern, the group stopped to regain their energy from their long trek.

"So, what's the plan?" Error asked, peeking into the deep abyss, "We don't even know what to do with these relics".

"I'm not quite sure," Dream replied, glancing at the bag that contained the relics. "Perhaps five of us could take it with them so one person wouldn't be weighed down".

"Not a bad suggestion, dreamboat," Killer smugly stated.

The negative guardian glared at the eyeless male, "Shut it, Killer".

After a moment of discussion, it was decided that Horror, Dust, Nightmare, Cross and Error would be holding the artifacts.

The group started to distribute the relics to the five chosen members.

Horror looked at the pendant he was  given, the stone was a shimmering purple that blended into a light shade of purple. To Horror, the pendant reminded him of the quiet male who wore the dark blue ring on one of his skeletal fingers.

After everyone had a look at their relics, they began to step foot into the dark tavern.

The only sounds inside the cave were the loud snores of what the group presumed was the hydra and their quiet, almost subtle footsteps.

Walking further into the cave, Cross accidentally tripped on a stone, waking the hydra up.

'Oh no,'s and 'oh shit,'s were made from the group as the large beast stepped forward and let out a loud roar with one of its many heads.

The group stood stunned in front of the hydra, watching as it straightened to its full height, glaring its velvet eyes at the newcomers.

Above its many heads was a large green bar that read, 'hp: 10000/10000'..

"What did you say about it not being a beast, huh?" Error snarked, before the hydra lunges an attack at the group.

Ink quickly grabbed his instrument and started to pluck the strings of his guitar, playing a boosting melody for the team, Dream used his bow firing quick attacks into the chest of the beast. Cross went into close range to block any fatal attacks that may hit the team.

Their attacks were effective as they could see the beast's health was slowly draining.

They dodged and attacked until the beast's health hit 0, and they watched as it fell to the ground with a loud thud.

"Yes! We did it!" Their cheers and excitement was short last as the hydra opened its eyes and glared down at the intruders.

"What!?" Error shouted, confused and frustrated, "Why isn't it dead?"

Swiftly, the group repeated their attacks from before but was futile as its health increased and its attacks became faster.

"Look!" Blue called, pointing at the neck of one the five heads, "The stone in its neck! Maybe we need to destroy it!"

Error looked up at the neck and casted a ball of fire into the neck of the pink stoned dragon. It roared in pain and its health plummeted, following suit, Cross went in close to attack its neck, only to be blasted it away as he made contact with the stone.

"What happened? Cross! Are you alright?" Dream asked, worried still shooting arrows at the beast.

Cross groaned before looking at his relic, "I think the stone needs to mat–"

He couldn't finish as the dragon stomped onto the monochrome male.

Everyone stood stunned and some gasped, watching as the dragon lifted its foot to reveal, purple cube and the orange amulet, in place of where Cross once was.

"CROSS!" Killer yelled at the top of his lungs, quickly running the remains of his companion.

"Don't you dare leave us," Killer grabbed the cube, as he whispered.

A soft light blue glow spreaded out of his hands and wrapped itself onto the cube.

After a few moments, a hand reached out and grabbed onto Killer's arm.

The male in turn, gasped and grabbed the familiar looking hand and pulled.

The cube started to disappear the more the body came into view. Cross climbed out of the cube with the help of Killer and fell to the floor, panting heavily as he made it out.

"Cross!" Everyone cheered.

"I didn't know you could revive people?" Cross asked, amazed that he's back.

The normally cocky male was surprised, "I.. I didn't know I could". He paused before grinning, "That's fucking awesome, I'm such a good healer!"

"Enough chatter, we need help to defeat the beast!" Nightmare called, cutting their reunion short.

Cross nodded and stood up with his shield and relic, preparing to head back into battle.

"You don't need healing?" Killer questioned.

The guard shook his head, " I think you revived me to full hp, thanks".

Nightmare watched as Cross ran into view and blocked the blows of the dragon. Nightmare himself prepared an attack at the hydra's neck but the head looked directly at him and dodged his strike. He gasped and jumped out of the way before he could get hit and landed beside Error. The destroyer had a large gash on his arm which he couldn't get healed as Killer was too busy tending to another team mate.

"Oh no! What happened?" Nightmare gasped, reaching out to the taller's injured arm.

Error gruffed, "got hit, no biddy," before he groaned and held his arm tighter.

Nightmare grasped on his arm, he could feel some of his energy pass through himself and into Error.

The injury closed itself but not fully healed.

"How did you do that?" Error's voice stopped glitching the more he was healed.

"I'm not sure but we shouldn't be here for long, our team needs us," Nightmare declared before running back into battle.

He was slower as he realised that he transferred some of his hp to Error, healing him but draining himself.

The beast's attacks became more frantic and more aggressive as another of its heads were destroyed.

It was the final head left and the dark guardian had the last relic.

With Cross' shield and Ink's music boost, he charged another attack and aimed it at the head but before it hit, Nightmare fell to the ground as he was slashed by the large claw of the beast, injuring the king to the point he couldn't move.

They only had one more head left, but he ultimately failed.

Looking to his fallen teammates, he sighed before laying the crown on his chest in defeat.

A quiet roar of anguish filled the silence, it sounded as if it was made from afar. Before it became silent again.

A small ding was made, before a bright light had filled the dark abyss.

The guardian gasped as he shot up from his place on the ground, only to find that he was in his castle yet again.

Quickly looking around, he finds his team and everyone else, laying on the ground, unconscious. His first instinct was to check up on his gang, worried

He let out a sigh of relief when he felt the larger male's chest to find that he was still breathing. A moment of relief was interrupted with a massive migraine and sore limbs.

'Maybe it had not been a dream,' he thought to himself before standing up to get something for his headache.

Slowly and steadily, each individual began to wake up and groan in pain from the previous events.

'We're back?" Blue whispered in astonishment.

Dream patted himself down before answering the blue male, "I guess we are..."

It was a moment of silent calmness before Killer spoke up, "Ha, that was fun, let's do it again".

Quickly everyone yelled, 'NO!' and stopped the eyeless murderer from doing anything they would all regret.
