Night of Distractions

Believing that the action was done for the night, Parker went home to her apartment.

As soon as the door clicked shut, she wiggled from her dress and left it in the hallway. She pulled on shorts and a shirt and collapsed into bed, content, ready to fall asleep.

But, like a few previous events, someone from S.T.A.R. Labs wasn't ready to stop needing Parker for the night. Her cell phone went off. As usual, Parker whimpered and answered in a tired voice.

"You missed it. Felicity said being with Ray Palmer was like dating Barry in Oliver's body," Dr.Wells said. "She is quite the woman.."

Parker managed a smile. "Is that all?"

Someone shouted her name. It sounded like Felicity. Seconds later, heels clicked against the floor at a close distance for the speaker of Caitlin's cell phone to detect. That confirmed it was indeed Felicity.

"Present," Parker said. "Well, not really, but my voice is here. I thought we were done for the night?"

"Brie Larvan isn't. She's attacking Mercury Labs. We've sent Barry to her location and Ray to protect Tina McGee and the other Lab."

"Brie Larvan? Bee Larva? That's fucking tacky."

"Ms.Sylas, language.." Dr.Wells gently reminded.

"Yes, yes. Hey, if Oliver and Ronnie were here, it'd be an All Star team up. Which would actually be kind of awesome."

"Felicity, can you jam their frequency?" Cisco shouted. From the distant sound of his voice, Parker assumed he was not at the Cortex, but in the action.

"I already tried. I can direct them onto a new target.. Ray, get ready."

"Is the A.T.O.M. suit cool in action?" Parker wondered.

"It's interesting," Felicity admitted at the same time Cisco yelled, "Hell yeah!"

"Depends on who you ask, apparently," Parker giggled. "How's my Allen?"

"Not dead yet," Barry announced.

"I hacked into the bee's frequency. I'm controlling them.. Oh, she's good. She's like my nemesis. I've never had a nemesis before, I kind of like it."

Parker rolled onto her back, phone on her chest, speakerphone activated. She was confused as to what was happening with Felicity. Assuming the she was Brie Larvan, and nemesis meant the two were fighting, Parker gained a general idea.

"Are they having a hack battle?" Parker asked.

"It would appear so," Dr.Wells answered.

"Ah!" Felicity squealed. Fright turned to anger within a moment. "That bitch just sent sparks flying from the computer!"

"Felicity, right now might be a good time to do something!" Barry yelled, sounding in apparent danger.

"Why don't you do something? Can't you run?" Parker asked.

"Debatable," Barry called to Parker. His tone switched to fear. "Felicity!"

"Got it!" A few distinctive sounds occurred: the clatter of a keyboard, wheels on a computer chair skidding across the floor. "Boom! Drop the mic! Which is, um, metaphorical, of course, since I don't have a real.. microphone."

Parker gave a breathy chuckle, knuckles digging into her eyes. "Is everyone okay now? Can I go back to bed?"

Don't get her wrong, she appreciated being included in the conversation, however, the more time she spent with her eyes closed in the dark, the more her yearn for sleep increased.

"Cisco took a bee for Ray," Dr.Wells said.

"Is he alive?"

"Cisco, are you alive?" Felicity asked.

"Ooh, God.." came Cisco's traumatized reply.

"He's alive," Parker confirmed, rolling her eyes. "I'm going to bed. See ya, losers."

"Goodnight, Ms.Sylas."

But of course, in a short amount of time, another distraction kept her from sleeping. Barry Allen ran into her apartment and leaped into Parker's bed. Parker whimpered once more.

"Hellooo, my love. I have big news." When Parker didn't respond, he kept going. "Felicity convinced me to tell Cisco and Caitlin. We should, Parker." Parker was listening, but made no indication of that. "So, you think I should?"

Parker yawned and patted the space next to her until she accidentally smacked Barry's face. She ran her fingers over his face, sounding completely out of it.

"I will follow whatever you do."

"Are you saying that because you're tired?"

"Eh."

"Do you want me to cuddle you and sleep?"

"Please."

The morning after, Felicity and Ray were set to leave.

Parker found the text message saying they needed to meet at Jitters and rolled over, laying sideways over Barry's chest.

She kissed his lips, nose, then stared at him until he opened his eyes. He didn't respond as quick as she thought.

Parker put her head on his chest. She made small, pointless noises with her mouth in a musical tone until she realized what song she was humming. "If I die young.. Bury me in satin, lay me down on a bed of roses.."

"Don't stop," Barry's voice was deep and raspy, as it always was in the morning.

She was tempted to hold a conversation, to simply hear that voice for a longer period of time. But he cleared his throat.

Until tomorrow..

"You're awake," she noted.

"You should wake me up like that more often. I loved that."

"And I love you, by the way. I don't think I tell you that enough," Parker admitted.

Barry was trying to stop his smile from growing too large. Her morning rambles included excessive hand motions that he absolutely adored.

"Just get up, loser. Felicity wants us at Jitters."

Upon arrival, Felicity attacked Parker in a hug. "And another end to another exciting adventure in Central City.."

While the girls hugged each other, Barry shook Ray's hand. "Thanks for all your help, Ray. I hope your suit ends up working well."

"All this time I've been thinking we needed to fix it by going bigger.. But you know what? I think the answer might be to go smaller," Ray explained. Following, he pulled a tube with two bees in them.

Parker cringed. "Oh, dear God, please tell me Cisco didn't keep one of those."

"Totally not.." Ray lied horribly.

"Is everything okay?" Felicity asked, sounding serious. Her words were laced with a different meaning.

Barry and Parker laced their fingers together, tiny smiles on their lips.

"Probably not," Parker noted. "But eventually, it will be."

"Bye Felicity," Barry smiled.

"Bye Barry."

"Bye Ray!"

"Goodbye, Parker."

Barry and Parker went to the CCPD Lab.

Barry added a new part to the list: Dr.Tina McGee said Wells became a different person after car accident. Just as Barry was capping the marker, Cisco and Caitlin strolled in.

"Alright, alright, who's ready for some.." Cisco held his finger in his ear and playfully sang, "karaoke.." in a high tone.

"You told them we were going to karaoke?" Parker asked with a sigh. Barry nodded. "Ah, damn. Now I want to go.."

Cisco and Caitlin's smiles had slipped right off their faces.

Soothing into the serious tone, Barry held a hand out to gesture to the bulletin board. "Um, this is everything we know about my mother's murder."

Parker flipped the board. "And this is everything we know about the Reverse- Flash."

"We've been gathering information for a long time," Barry explained.

"I don't understand. Why is Harrison Wells up on the Reverse-Flash board?" Caitlin inquired, arms crossing over her chest.

"I'd call it evidence, actually," Parker corrected Barry. She turned to Caitlin, eyes locked to fully help her understand the next words. "Harrison Wells is up there because they are the same person."

"That's impossible," Caitlin immediately protested.

"It's really not," Parker retorted.

Knowing Parker wasn't one for sympathy, Barry touched his hand to her elbow, silencing her. He tried to help Caitlin accept it in a much friendlier way.

"Look, Caitlin, it took me a long time to believe it too, but it's him."

"Dr.Wells is a speedster? He's paralyzed!"

"Is he, though?" Joe asked, making Caitlin go into silence for a moment.

"Then why would he kill Barry's mother? It doesn't make any sense--"

"I've been having these dreams," Cisco started quietly. There was a far away look in his eye. "Mostly at night, but sometimes during the day.. They don't really feel like dreams, they.. feel real."

"What happens in the dream?" Barry asked. He shared a worried glance with Parker.

"Parker and I are in the basement. Dr.Wells tells us that he's the Reverse-Flash. And then.. he kills me."

There was a paused of shocked silence from everyone else, except Parker took a step forward, hands squeezing the fabric of her collar.

"Cisco, what happens to me?"

"I die before I know. I just know I meet your eyes and you're sobbing."

"Oh for fucks sake.." Parker said under her breath.

Her knuckles were turning white from anger over the entire mystery. She wanted to remember what Cisco had-- and right then, in the middle of her thoughts, Parker went unnaturally still.

"Park?" Barry asked.

"You changed the timeline."

Barry's eyes widened. "Um, Park, they don't know--"

"You're supposed to be the only one who remembers any events of the other timeline. So, how does Cisco..?"

Parker trailed off, snatching the red marker from his hands and scribbling down her question onto a square of white space on the dry-erase board.

"That is one of many unanswered questions about this entire thing. Examples include: Why has Doc helped us? Why did he kill Nora Allen? How did you go back that far, and why did you go back to that night in the first place? And how did he know to follow you back to that night?"

"Plus one other," Barry announced, his head turning to Cisco and Caitlin. "Do you two believe us?"

Cisco and Caitlin looked at each other.

"Yes."
