25; Daisy
1-30-16
I lost you,
After a quick glance,
In a crowd full of people.
And you slipped away.
The things I should remember about that day-
I don't.
Instead, I can remember what perfume you were wearing,
And how your smile was heavenly when you waved to me.
I remember the pastel yellow dress you wore,
The color reminding me of the daisies you love.
You told me you felt connected to the wildflowers,
As you slipped a daisy into your braids the very first day we met,
And I couldn't help but think that was inspiringly beautiful.
I remember where we were going.
It was our one year anniversary,
You told me it was a surprise.
Well, I can tell you one thing:
I was definitely surprised at the ending of that day.
You were a poet's best dream in the form of a person,
So natural,
So easy to become the subject of all of my poems,
The ones you used to nag me about organizing out of messy desktops and notebooks and into folders and labeled sticky notes.
I was simply never that put together.
Your color feels too saturated now,
As all I have left are empty photo frames.
But, every once in awhile,
I replace the flowers in my vase with new ones.
It seems they always end up dying.
I guess I've never been good at keeping daises alive..

I love this because it personifies the color yellow (personified colors are my shit yo), a daisy, and it's just yay. I created this myself, it's not from personal experience, which is sort of something I want to do more often because I'm in love with it. Anyways! Feedback? Thank you guys for reading!! It means the world that I have your support xx <3
