117; Promise Me A Second Thought

7-2-16
Just promise me a second thought.
I know the wind's picking up
And the sky feels dark.
The sirens are screaming,
But you're so much louder.

Your eyes have retreated to somewhere inside your skull.
Fading into your skeleton,
You can't face these days.
Stars taunt you with promises,
Promises that were destined to be
Broken.
Your limbs are heavy,
Like you're bone marrow is made of concrete.

Don't look at me with those eyes,
They shatter me.
I don't know why I've met you
And your stubborn mindset here.
We should both be long gone,
Flooring it on dirt tracks.
How much have you had to drink?
What does my name taste like to you?
Did you know yours is my redemption?

I know you've got nothing keeping you here,
And I know it's getting real dark,
but promise me a second thought
Before you do it.
I can't stop the black smoky figures in your head
from winning (they're determined as hell),
I can't stop you from wanting this over.
But promise me a second thought
Before you jump from broken windows
Into a storm underneath.
