"Don't move!"

I nearly made the poor guy jump up several inches in the air. He had a huh? face on. His eyes went wide behind those specs as he looked around for the source of the voice.

Yeah, I do that.

Alot.

Startling poor people.

Hitching my backpack up on my shoulder, I walked towards the quacking guy and the second he saw me—

I waved my hand and gave him my best dimpled smile.

"Yo! What's up? Sorry for being a banshee but see right there," I paused and pointed at the ground , " you would have walked all over the poor guy."

He glanced down and realization dawned on his freckled face. He nodded wildly as if being thankful for my scream sesh.

"Shit. .is it okay though?" He asked, now sounding worried.

Humanity was alive!

"I'm glad our sentiments match." I grinned , moving towards the tiny helpless bird. It was trying to fly away with a broken wing. Seeing me approaching, it tried to move it's busted wing . .scared. The little guy kept staring at the sky in a helpless manner.

Slowly, I kneeled on the rough ground and carefully took the birdie in my palm.

It gave a soft cry.

"There there now. ." I cooed , trying to soothe it.

"He needs a doctor." The guy , who was standing over my head and watching me with a wary face , said.

I shook my head slightly.

"All he needs is me."

Standing up, I tried to be as careful as I could and started to walk . The freckle face was kind enough to offer me his help. .but I declined.

I mean, it's not like I was carrying a hippopotamus.

I knew what to do with it's wing. I had fixed many kinds and types of wings. Well , came with the territory because my house was right beside a jungle so my fixing nature had evolved with it.

You know, fixing broken stuff.

Something about seeing the broken thing being fixed back / fly back / stand back. .it gave me immense amount of happiness and . .my heart got filled with joy.

Yes I had plenty of people telling me that i shouldn't be so helping or I would end up getting hurt one of these days  because apparently we don't know whose hiding behind the sheep clothing.

I have read all the horrible stories about how people like me tends to be the loneliest in the end but to me all of these stories are made up just to scare people like me. I'm in no way a goody two shoe, alright maybe I'm, but I don't have the capability in me to shut my eyes when people or any specie is in trouble.

Sucks to be me.

"It's okay ,little guy. .," I rubbed the top of it's head and it sighed softly, closing it's beady eyes and purring.

Must be a hard day for it.

After that I kinda zoomed past like a vampire to my apartment , zapping the bird with a tiny cast on it's wing, I rushed back to the campus ground again. First day of college and my nature got the best of me.

I was late.

I wish I could say , the campus was beyond my imaginations but it wasn't.

Just an old rickety building tucked away at the corner of our town, Devous. How do people describe their college as a place straight out a movie?

Mine was just meh.

Passable.

The old building failed to cast it's charm on me because I had been here with my Dad. Plenty of times. In fact half of the professors were chum with my dad. He taught physics before getting an early retirement for wanting to spend time with my mom and his only daughter.

I had been offered a dorm room but let's face it. I would rather die then live stuck up in a dorm room where I had to tolerate another entity.

So I chose to get an decent apartment. I had a bed to sleep on, the shower sprinkled just the right amount of water . .more than Kylie Jenner's million dollars shower did and the flush worked. .what more could a girl ask for?

"Shit shit shit. . .curse you , Eleanor!" I muttered, my head down as I tried to sort all the documents.

Taking a look at my wrist watch, I was half an hour late to my first lecture.

"You can't go around helping tiny cute , helpless animals on the first day! You have plenty of days to do that!" I kept lamenting myself as I sped towards the entrance of the building.

It was still early for students to arrive but being a first semester student meant , I had to be early than the seniors so I could get all the information and introduction of the subjects as well as the professors.

Just as I stepped inside, I could see the empty reception desk right at the corner and then the corridor that led up towards the classes.

I knew my way around so I was hardly fazed by the chaotic silence.

Just as I hurriedly moved towards the corridor . .I heard a strange gutteral sound.

My walk slowed down.

A curse was uttered!

I stopped in my tracks and actually looked at the dimly lit corridor. Now that I stared at it with concentrated eyes . .I could spot two bodies.

One was leaning against the wall in a calm manner.

And the other was . . angrily pointing finger at his face.

"—sleeping behind my back?!!"

I couldn't see them clearly. They were like two shadows in the dim light and then I gasped when the angry one raised a punch in the air—

"Hey!" My voice shot up a few octaves , freezing the guy in mid air. "Don't you dare!" I huffed , marching towards them.

My brows knotted and my stance defiant.

There I go helping out again. .

Just as I closed up the distance between us , the angry guy dropped his punch seeing me , while the other didn't move an inch. Now that I could see them clearly with each step . .the pissed off guy had muscles all over, his face set in a deep frown . .a line of blood trickling at the corner of his thin lips. I definitely didn't like the way he was staring at me with open hostility.

I couldn't see the other guy clearly because his face was hidden in the shadows.

"Is there a problem?" I asked looking between the two.

"Mind your fucking business , red head!" Harsh man spat at me.

He was clearly trying to insult my fiery red hair.

"Love the nursery insult you just pitched my way." I said in a dry manner.

I was in no favor of answering fire with a fire.

He struggled with a much scathing reply and it kinda made me smile how his whole face twisted in distaste for not conjuring a good ass comeback.

"I would run if I was you." I said as I crossed my arms. Watching the big guy flex his muscles.

"Who the fuck are you to—"

"How does me siccing the dean on you sounds huh?" I asked in a challenging manner and his eyes turned to slits . .

As he stared at me.

"Facing trouble with the force , Luke?" I mocked.

He shook his head and then glanced at the other guy, which I had forgotten all about.

"This isn't over. I'll find you and I'll settle the score." He threatened in a low voice .

Then casting me one last venomous look, he turned around and walked away in a brisk manner.

His feet thundering in the corridor.

"Hey ,you okay?" I asked the guy as I came to stand right in front of him with a few steps between us.

I didn't get any response.

"He's gone. Don't be scared. Did he bully you or what? I can take you to the dispensary. I know my way around here. "

His face was obscured in the shadows but I could feel his gaze on me.

Calculating my words.

I didn't like the way he was silently looking at me through the shadows.

"You deaf or mute?" I asked in a low voice so only he could hear me.

Nothing.

And then I heard the rustling of fabric as his hand slipped in the pocket of his jeans—

"What the hell? You have a knife on you?" I asked , my eyes going wide and my heart beating madly.

Serves you right for helping a stranger!

He slipped out a lighter and a box of—

"Smoking is bad for health. You would get cancer and die." I babbled watching the large pale hand slip the butt of cigarette in his mouth and then lighting it up.

The cigarette flared to life.

And in the orange light, his face got illuminated.

Even the white smoke couldn't hide his striking mid night blue eyes. A strong bone structure , hollow cheeks and full lips. .the guy could be easily listed in hot 100 men alive. The brown hair messed up on top of his head . . giving him an intimidating aura. He was taller than me , his body lean.

He took a swig in, closing his eyes and savoring the taste.

As if I wasn't here!

"Hello?" I waved my hand in exaggeration.

He didn't acknowledge me.

That kinda lit up my fuse. Because what the hell?

"I saved your butt from getting kicked! The least you can do is be courteous and say thank you , Eleanor!" I fumed and the next second realized what I did.

I gave away my name to a total stranger who could be a—anything!

The white smoke gathered around him and he looked like he was in his own world. Which was sorta pissing me off.

"I can't believe people like you exist!" I couldn't help but burst out. Also why was him not responding to me bothering me so much?!

To this, he opened his eyes . .and levelled his unsettling, nerve wrecking gaze on me. .as he inhaled the toxic nicotine.

My skin was bristling under the weight of his eyes. I felt like if I didn't leave this second . .I don't know. .

"Seek help!" I said through gritted teeth.

My offensive comment had no effect on him whatsoever. Before he made me bang my head against the wall in pure frustration, I whirled around and walked straight away from the human statue.

Such pretty eyes had gone to waste!
