Episode 3| The matter of Individuality
Welcome to episode 3 of my blog!
The matter of individuality is a huge thing but over the years that has been corrupted by the sole desire it fit in or the judgements that people receive from trying to be different.
These days, nobody wants to be the real you. The thing is that I feel people don't yet get the fact that you are made, you are created to be an original and not a photocopy. In everything you do, originality is supposed to be seen as a stamp. I want you to get this; everybody can be a leader but not everybody wants to be a leader. And permit me to tell you that the only thing holding you back is you. If you can stretch and break out of the mentality, unlock the real you and never be ashamed to show it.
Let me tell you some thing about me that gets me the weird looks. It's the fact that I absolutely hate chocolate or anything related and I can't stand the taste of cola. When I mean cola, I'm talking of the usual coca-cola everyone knows about but in my country, there are others that fall under that category. This gets me weird looks but for a while, I couldn't and didn't want to say it. I'd eat it and try not to scrunch my face up in disgust.
This maybe in the area of your nationality (as I've seen a lot of people getting discriminated) or it maybe for another thing totally. Make decisions that are best for you but not in a bad way. You get what I mean. My grandmother tells me this: sometimes it's okay to be selfish especially if it gives you some sense of peace. You shouldn't have to hide certain things about you. What the public has to say doesn't have to matter. It can be hurtful – it will he hurtful but yes you can forget it or at least try to push it behind you. The thing is, the public or everyone will always feel opinionated. It just depends on how you present that opinion. Don't do things just because you want to be 'among to crowd'. I'd happily tell you that when you come off that high, you'll have regrets. In where I'm from, we call it 'chasing shadows and forgetting the substance.'
People are too lost these days doing things that are common. Everyone has a unique ability. I love seeing diversity personally. I love seeing people that make the right decisions and are unapologetic of what people have to say. I love seeing people step out of the box of judgement and sentiments and just do the right thing.
You'll never know complete happiness if you don't get to explore you and live you. Feel completely unapologetic for giving someone who's judgemental a piece of your mind or you could just ignore the person. Silence is the best answer to a fool, they say. It actually works y'all. It does.
To the judges of the society, don't you have other things to do than sitting down in a corner and discriminating every thing that passes? How do you feel happy seeing others unhappy? You were given one mouth and a brain with a huge mental capacity. There are better and more polite or nicer ways to say or do things. Please use wisdom in doing or saying things. It's not everything that passes but that needs word of commentary.
To the parents, (even if your not yet one, you'll be one someday), you've lived your lives. Don't make your children walk in your footsteps and by that I mean, please don't dictate what you want them to be in life or what course you want them to study. There is this joy and fulfillment in watching your child grow and learn to make the right decisions or choices for themselves, in watching them grow to love something with a passion and to be themselves. You can train them to have values and good morals but don't spell out for them the life you want them to live. Let the training you gave help them do that. If you do otherwise, it'll make you happy of course but are they happy with that? Let them discover their likes and dislikes in occupations.
Stand out and you'll never regret it. The comments are open for all and I'm listening or waiting to see what you have to say about this one. Don't forget. You can tell me anything. My shoulders are always available to cry on. And don't forget one thing; be unapologetically you.
With love,
Jess x.
