[ PRESENT DAY ]
"Meet my fiance, Jeon Jungkook."
Sori stares at him, with widened eyes, but in an instant she snaps out of her trance. She smiles genuinely, waving at him before gesturing him to take a seat. On the other hand, he looks just surprised as she is.
"Hi, nice to meet you. You came just in time." She says softly, almost so naturally that he feels taken aback. "We were just getting started, anyways."
He hesitates before taking a seat right next to Hyori, who grabs his hand and smiles at him reassuringly. He glances at Sori, who's already focused on the binder that's placed in between the two of them. That is, until, she says a small 'oh'.
"I'm so sorry, I forgot to introduce myself." She chuckles, "I'm Sori, and this is Minjee."
"I know," he cuts her off slightly, only to clear his throat, "I mean—y-yeah, nice to meet you."
"Shall we get started, for real, this time?" Minjee laughs, and the two of them share at look before getting down into the book.
Jungkook stares at Sori with furrowed eyebrows. It was almost as if he was burning two holes straight at her. He didn't know if he was angry, confused, or a bit betrayed. He knew who she was, in fact, she was the one who left his heart shredded into pieces. She was the one who he fell in love with, only to get his heart broken in the process. Even if he did deserve it after what had happened to the two of them in senior year of high school, that was a completely different Jungkook that vanished when he got his second chance.
"Have you both settled on a color scheme for your wedding?" Sori asks and he snaps out of his trance.
"Well—" Jungkook began before he gets interrupted by Hyori.
"We were thinking of having a natural looking wedding with white, coral—"
"Are you both getting married in the spring?" Sori questions and the two of them nod in reply. "Then I see why you're going for the coral colors. Getting married in the spring is pretty trendy nowadays, don't you think?"
"What do you think is best for the both of us?" Hyori asks and Minjee smiles.
"I think you suggested a good color scheme, since the both of you look really young to get married." Minjee chuckles. "I think that's a youthful color scheme to start off with, maybe let's use some pastel colors too, does that sound alright?"
"Of course!" Hyori exclaims, before settling down, "by the way, what did you both do for your weddings? Maybe I can get an idea."
"Well—" Minjee begins.
"Sori-ssi, are you married?" Hyori cuts her off, and Jungkook gulps nervously.
She glances at her, a smile starting to form across her lips, "I—"
Suddenly, there is a few soft knocks on the door and the four of them glance at a little girl, knocking on the door and pointing towards Sori. Jungkook watches Sori as she bows her head and mumbles a soft apology.
"Sorry, excuse me for a second. Minjee, do you mind continuing for me?" She asks and Minjee nods her head.
Sori gets up from her seat, a wide smile plastered on her face as she makes her way towards the little girl. She opens the door and closes it behind her, swooping the little girl into her arms. She pecks her cheek, hugging her tightly.
"You miss her already?" She looks towards Taehyung, who's sitting on a bench outside of the showroom. "Well, from the looks of it, it looks like Yoojungie misses you more than you miss her."
Sori rolls her eyes at him, glancing back at the younger girl. "How's my little Yoojungie doing?"
Yoojung plays with the strands of her as she giggles. "I'm doing okay, Taehyung-appa has been annoying me all day."
Sori frowns, turning towards Taehyung, "what did you do?"
"I was playing games with her at the park, and when she showed me her flowers, I snatched them away from her. I almost lost her too!" He exclaims.
Sori laughs, gently placing the seven year old back onto the ground. She dusts off her pants, looking at Taehyung.
"Did you stomp on her flowers?" She teases, and he frowns.
"You know I only did that to gain your attention, right?" He pouts. "Too bad those flowers weren't for me but for that bastard."
"I have a meeting I should get back too, you know that right?" She smiles, glancing down at Yoojung. "I'll be done soon, and when I'm done, we can go get ice cream, how does that sound?"
"That sounds good!" Yoojung exclaims, waving her hands in the air as she runs towards Taehyung and crashes into his arms. "Taehyung-appa, Sori-eomma will be done soon, right?"
"She will," Taehyung mumbles, before turning towards Sori, "go and finish that meeting before I die of boredom."
Sori chuckles, waving him off as she heads back into the showroom. As she takes her seat next to Minjee, she smiles apologetically.
"So sorry about that, she's really.. eager." Sori giggles, and Jungkook's smile falters when he notices how happy she seemed.
"Well, it's pretty hard to balance your family and work, huh?" Hyori smiles, "I wish I could have a family like yours."
"Oh," Sori chuckles, "well, Taehyung and I have raised her well, she's only seven."
"Well then, I'm assuming you are married, to answer my previous question." Hyori adds and Sori's eyebrows raise up.
"I—we're not married," she mumbles, and Jungkook's eyes slightly widen.
Hyori falls silent, before nodding her head as if she understood exactly what she meant. An awkward silence filled the air and Minjee clears her throat.
"Let's get back to the meeting, shall we?"
❀ ❀❀
"You wouldn't want to guess who's getting married."
Taehyung looks at her with a questioning look. "Who's getting married?"
"Jungkook," Sori replies, combing her fingers into Yoojung's hair as she pulls it up into a ponytail. "Isn't that shocking?"
Taehyung falls silent, pursing his lips into a line. "Jungkook as in.. Jeon Jungkook?"
She nods her head. "Yeah, Jungkook as in the Jeon Jungkook. It's been a while since we saw him leave before going to America, huh?"
"Yeah," he mutters underneath his breath, "you're not.. affected, are you?"
Sori glances at him, pulling her stare away from the younger toddler who's still not finished with her ice cream. She notices how vulnerable Taehyung looks, and she knew exactly what he was thinking. All the gears in his head were turning, and she knew exactly what to do to calm him down.
"No," she shakes her head, "not at all, besides, if he really did love me back, he would've had stayed and listened to me before leaving instead of not giving me a chance to explain myself, don't you think?"
Taehyung nods his head silently, looking away from her as he takes the last bite of his ice cream. She frowns, and he courageously looks at her.
"When are you going to give me a chance?" He asks her, "am I still not enough for you?"
She stops in her tracks, stopping Yoojung with her. She glances at Taehyung. "Yoojung-ah, go up to your room, okay?"
"Okay," Yoojung smiles before heading upstairs to her room. She looks back towards Taehyung.
"Taehyung-ah—"
"Is it because of Yoojung? I know I've been giving you so much burden," he mumbles.
"What? No, of course not." She frowns.
"Then is it because you're not Yoojung's mother? Is it because I'm a young, single father who's raising his daughter that was neglected by her real mother and I won't have enough time to find love again?" He rambles on, "is it because I'm going too fast? I know asking you to live with me is a bit too much but I was surprised you wanted to and it made Yoojung really happy."
"Taehyung—"
"When I saw you again after years, and when we both went out more frequently, I was slowly falling in love with you, and I did. I still am. The cherry on top is how Yoojung treats you like her mother, and I don't know what I'll do when she gets heartbroken if you ever leave her just like how her mother did—"
Sori cuts him off as she pulls him into a hug, snuggling into his chest. He sighs, hugging her back as he wraps his arms around her waist.
"Taehyung-ah, you like to ramble a lot, you know that right?" She chuckles, "just breathe and listen to me, okay?"
"Okay." He mumbles.
"I'm in love with you too, Tae." She smiles, "I've always been, ever since I saw you again, I was just scared to fall in love again. But the more I hung out with you, the more I learned about you, in fact, we've both seen each other and been there for each other through our worse times."
"But why won't you just be mine, officially?"
"And I know you've been waiting for so long, and I'm sorry for making you wait for me." She whispers, "but I know I'm ready now. I'm ready to commit, and I'm ready to make it official."
He pulls away from the hug, holding her shoulders as he looks at her with widened eyes.
"Are you serious?" He asks and Sori smiles, nodding her head. "Like, you're going to be my girlfriend?"
"Yes, do I have to spell it out for you?" She grins and he smiles goofily, grabbing her hand as he brings the both of them upstairs to Yoojung's room.
"Yoojung-ah, can I tell you something?" He asks until the two of them see the toddler asleep on her bed. "I guess you'll just find out tomorrow morning."
"Do you think she'll be okay with it?" Sori questions him.
He pulls her closer to him as she wraps her arms around his waist.
"I think she'll beg us to get married instead."
