A drabble, not a one shot. Just a scene I am imagining over and over again these days. After the jail track, I expect a breakdown from Bondita. No wonder she'd be happy but my girl is fighting alone. She is hearing all those ridiculous taunts alone with no one beside her. She has to face all those filthy glares alone and she is even burdened that her two sisters someway or the other are suffering because of her. So here goes a drabble.

Bondita stood there with a cup of coffee in her hand as she saw Anirudh staring outside the window. The white curtains brushed his face and he closed his eyes feeling at ease. She too felt at peace just by looking at his content face. He had been through a lot but he was home, finally, to her. She heaved a sigh as she smiled. His happiness and safety mattered the most to her. He had been in jail just two days ago and now witnessing him in front of her eyes, close to her made her feel solace.
She was happy.
As she placed the cup on the table, it made a sound and it made Anirudh come out of his thoughts and look at Bondita. He had praised her, had hugged her earlier just as she had won the case. When his eyes met hers, he smiled at her.
Anirudh on his part knew that Bondita had fought alone and he expected a breakdown from her. He knew she had been holding it within herself. Maybe she didn't want him to worry anymore about her. Her face lacked the same old charm; was it because of the bottled up feelings within her?
She smiled at him once more as she briskly started walking away from the study.
Anirudh smiled at once and called her out, "Bondita?"
She instantly turned around and looked at him with a quizzical expression.
He was leaning on the wall besides the window while Bondita stood at the entrance of the study. He straightened himself up as he took a step forward.
In no time, he was standing in front of her and she suddenly looked down. She didn't want to breakdown in front of him. She had troubled him enough. She didn't want him to know that she was so vulnerable all the time with no one beside her. No wonder, she stood tall and strong against the whole world but her inner conflicts were not known to this world.
Here, Anirudh knew her more than she herself. He knew something was bothering her.
He gently took her chin with a warm expression on his face. He made her look at him.
Her eyes spoke millions of emotions and insecurities that she had bottled up inside herself. When her eyes encountered his endearing dark orbs which were involuntarily soothing her soul from within, she experienced her heart filling up with pain. Her heart was full with feelings and she just wanted to let them all out.
Anirudh caressed her cheek gently as he asked calmly,"Kab tak apna dard chhupaogi, Bondita?"
She remained silent and just looked at him.
He spoke lovingly again," Jaanta hun main ki tum kuchh nahi kahogi mujhse. Jaanti ho na? Tumse zyada penchanta hun main tumhe."
A lone tear escaped her eye and he gently wiped that off.
He cupped her face between his palms as he looked at her ever so lovingly. He said,"Sirf court mein mukadma nahi lada hai tumne, Bondita. Tum samaj se ladi ho, har uss nazar se ladi ho jo tumhe dekh kar nafrat se bhar jaati thi, har us kataksh se ladi ho jo tumpar kiya jaata tha. Main kuchh nahi jaanta kya? Har uss insaan se ladi ho Bondita jo hasa tumpar, jisne tumhara aatmvishwas todne ki koshish ki. Parivar ko sambhala, unhe bharosa dilaya. Apne aap se ladi ho tum, apne antarmann se jo tumhe tumhari beheno ke saath hue anyay ka zimmedaar keh kr tumhare kadam rokta tha. Tapur ko sambhala hai tumne."
Bondita's face was laced with tears completely. She was letting all those unexpressed emotions out. Anirudh wiped off her tears gently as his own eyes started getting filled with water.
He uttered as his voice cracked,"Aur kaise kiya meri Bondita ne yeh sab? Bilkul akele. Tum bilkul akeli thi Bondita, koi nahi tha jo tumhe sahara de sake. Jo tumhe yeh keh sake ki main vapas aaunga tumhare paas. Haina?"
Bondita nodded as she sniffed.
Anirudh's hands reached from her cheeks to her shoulders as he clutched them gently. His eyes had now welled up just like her. He very lovingly smiled through his tears, "Toh apne Pati Babu ko apna sahara ban ne ka hak nahi dogi kya? Tumhara har dard mera hai Bondita. Us dard ko kam karne ka hak nahi dogi kya mujhe?"
Without even uttering a single word, Bondita threw her arms around him and when her head landed on his chest, he enveloped her completely within himself. He wrapped his arms gently around her, holding her close to himself. She clutched his clothes from behind with her fists as she nuzzled her face in his chest, trying to take refuge in his arms forever. She wanted to just disappear in his embrace. She just wanted to hide herself inside the cocoon of his warm embrace. She was crying constantly, her eyes shedding numerous pearls and he cried too. He patted her head gently as she cried.
Her muffled sobs were making him restless but he knew she needed it. She needed to let it all out. He brushed her head lovingly as he pulled her even closer to himself.
She uttered through her tears,"Pati Babu"
They stayed like that for a long time when suddenly the telephone rang, bringing them out of their moments of bliss. Anirudh very gently let her go. He cupped her face, wiping the stray tears that lingered and smiled at her.
Just as he was about to go to pick up call, he felt a hold on his wrist and found Bondita's teary gaze on him.
Dil charkhe ki ik tu dori
Sufi iska rang haay
Isme jo tera khwaab piroya
Neendein bani patang
Bondita slowly walked towards him, her eyes speaking millions of emotions through them. Her eyes were tearing up again just by looking at him. What good did she do to get a boon like him I her life? He was her nest, her safest abode and he was the one who made her what she is today. Could she ever get enough of him?
Dil bharta nahi
aankhein rajti nahi
Chaahe jitna bhi dekhti jaun
Waqt jaae main rok na paun
Anirudh looked at her lovingly as she just stood in front of me, admiring him. She very slowly let her small hands reach his shirt. She placed her hands on his chest softly, sniffing while he looked at her lovingly. She placed her head gently on his chest as she clutched his shirt tightly and pulled him closer to herself and she cried her heart out.
Anirudh wrapped his arms around her ever so lovingly and gently. He patted her head, trying to relieve her from the pain that she experienced. He let his one arm wrap her waist while with the other he brushed her hair and at times wiped those pearls off her alluring face. Her head was placed on his heart as she calmed herself listening to his heartbeat which was more soothing than music. She inhaled his fragrance which contented her more than anything in this world.
She pulled his shirt yet again, not wanting to let him go. Anirudh just smiled and held her in his arms.
The telephone rang again and before Anirudh could break the embrace, he felt his shirt being clutched tightly. Bondita pulled him to herself, this time her nose rubbing against the bare skin on his neck as she whispered,"Bas thodi der aur, Pati Babu."
A warm smile adorned his face as he let the wretched telephone ring. He pecked her forehead and his hold tightened. She nuzzled her face in his chest and smiled.
Tu thodi der aur therjaa, sohneya
Tu thodi der aur therjaa
Tu thodi der aur therjaa, zaalimaa
Tu thodi der aur therjaa
