Her anklets chimed as she paced around her room, fidgeting with the end of her saree. Bondita was not her usual self today, given the fact that she was dressed in a simple pink saree which made her look beautiful instead of the loud and revealing clothes that she would wear usually. There was this charm on her face, even when she was wearing minimal jewelry. A thin silver waist chain peeped through the exposed part of her body which the saree didn't cover.

She was getting impatient with each moment that passed. She was waiting for her light, her Birristera Babu, her Anirudh. She smiled bashfully as his face flashed in front of her eyes for a brief moment. It would not be wrong to say that her thoughts were occupied by him. He was on her mind all the time. She'd feel him in the evening breeze, she'd feel him in the rays of the dawn. She'd paint her lips with her own fingers but it was his touch that she'd experience. A touch so gentle, a touch so safe.

She peeped out from the window and inched closer. As the night breeze fluttered, the curtains brushed her face. The moon seemed to smile bashfully among the stars. Bondita rested her hands on the windowsill and glanced down at the streets of Heera Mandi. Everyone was busy in their own. Drunken men stumbling over girls who were booked for the night, the dim yet shimmery lighting of the place, the faint sound of the music being played in the daily mehfil where the tawaifs danced were usual to Heera Mandi.

But all of this went unnoticed by Bondita as he eyes only waited for him. Her eyes were wandering all over the place, trying to find him in the crowd.

"Just as the flowers wait for the spring to bloom, I'm waiting for you, Birristera Babu. Come to me and make me bloom like the most beautiful flower." Bondita whispered to herself. Her heart yearned for him.

Indeed he was her spring.

Rasiya Bai was like her elder sister and she would always warn Bondita to stay away from Anirudh. She never trusted him. He was a wealthy Zamindar while the world had proclaimed Bondita as a prostitute who was sold to Anirudh. Whilst all the allegations that would be bestowed on Anirudh by Rasiya, Bondita would still be adamant about trusting him the most. She had this unflinching trust on him for he treated her like a queen.

Heera Mandi had never witnessed a prostitute being so much devoted to her master. Generally the girls would despise the very sight of their master but it was not the same with Bondita. Everyone would be awed at the devotion she showed towards him and often, a mockery was made but she paid no heed. He mattered the most to her.

Bondita was getting restless. It was already time and he was still not there.

But.

All of a sudden, Bondita felt two warm hands, covering her eyes delicately from behind. Her breath hitched and she felt ecstasy running throughout her body. She held his hands tightly and smiled as she felt her cheeks burn.

She turned around and latched herself onto him, hugging him tightly. She whispered in his chest," Birristera Babu."

Jab saiyaan aaye shaam ko
To lag gaye chand mere naam ko
Sarpe rakh ke naach phiri main
Har jalte huye ilzaam ko

Bondita felt peace lacing around her body when she felt his heartbeat. She was always so comfortable around him. She felt his arms around herself and she nuzzled her face in his chest more, making him chuckle.

Her heart was beating rapidly, it always would around him. And this never went unnoticed by Anirudh. It would be wrong to exclaim that Anirudh felt nothing for this girl. His moments with her were the most memorable ones. He felt connected to Bondita just as she did.

Bondita still hadn't let him go and he caressed her long hair. She was embracing him dearly and he was at peace too. His chin was placed above her head as he enclosed her body within his arms.

He slowly pulled away and stared into her almond eyes which gleamed with joy.

He held her shoulders and took a good look at her. Her long locks reaching till her waist, adorned with jasmine, her ravenous red lips, her beautiful eyes and her innocent face- everything about her was just so beautiful. He noticed the prominent red on her cheeks and smirked inwardly. He had started noticing these small things about her. She would always blush when he was around her and this would always make his heart flutter.

When he was forced to come to Heera Mandi against his wish, he had planned that it to be be his first and the last day there but when he met Bondita, there was no turning back. He craved for her presence.

Anirudh's days would be spent dreaming about her mostly. He was smitten, not just by her looks or beauty, but by her innocence. She was as delicate as the petals of a newly bloomed rose and he wanted to protect his rose from all the thorns. Her touch was blissful and tender and with her, it felt as if all the worldly mess was put at bay. His troubled childhood memories would haunt him but when she would pat him to sleep, his pain would subside. The world was cruel to her, Anirudh just wanted to cage her in his arms forever, close to his heart.

She was still smiling cheekily. He adored her for a while and his hand reached for her knuckles and he brushed them, making her squirm.

Bondita was unable to decipher what he wanted as she looked into his eyes. She felt like drowning in those deep orbs which were so affectionate. But was it just affection?

Captivated by his gaze, she didn't realize when he dragged her out of the room clasping her hand tightly into his. As he dragged her down the stairs, she could feel many eyes on them. They made her feel uncomfortable, those looks were disgusting. She just looked at his back which she faced as he dragged her out of the crowd. She saw the brothel Madame, Tarabai, eyeing them and she closed her eyes as she felt that a verbal spat was on its way. But she was surprised when Tarabai didn't utter a word but only gave her a disgusting stare. Anirudh had things sorted she supposed. Tarabai was her Ammu once, but the recent happenings had shown her true colors. Tarabai didn't matter to Bondita anymore.

They stepped out of Heera Mandi.

Deewaron dar chaukhat vokhat
Ban gaye hai sab saheli
Ye kuchh pooche wo kuchh pooche
Kitne jawaab doon main akeli

--------------------------

Bondita didn't know where he was taking her today. She could feel her heart thumping wildly in her chest. She clutched onto her hammering heart and inhaled sharply. They were driving down a remote area in his car.

From the corner of her eye, she saw a smile plastered on his handsome face. She extended her hands to gently wipe the hair that had fallen on his face making him look at her. He smiled at her and she blushed.

What was happening?

He stopped the car finally and Bondita looked around herself. He had parked the car slightly away from the river shore. Bondita jumped out of the car in glee and rushed forward leaving Anirudh behind.

He came out of the car and chuckled.

As he saw her rushing out on her own, he shouted ," Careful, Bondita. Don't get hurt!"

He paced forward, with his hands in the pockets of his trousers, smiling to himself.

The night was illuminated with the glow of the full moon. The river water was silent. It was April and the red Gulmohar trees were in full bloom. The red flowers were falling down as a gentle breeze began to blow. The leaves were stuttering, making a subtle sound. The river radiated the reflection of the moon.

The breeze fluttered through Anirudh's hair as his eyes were locked on the girl in front of him. She looked alluring with her simple saree. Her long locks swayed along the breeze and she spread out her arms as she faced the river. The red Gulmohar flowers were occasionally falling on her face and she clapped her hands in glee. The moonlight that fell on her delicately carved figure made her look like a goddess. Anirudh's eyes fell on the silver waist chain that she wore and he squirmed. He was smiling like a maniac as he adored her.

He didn't believe in love. He never will, he thought. But Bondita was slowly breaking the ice. She was slowly warming up his heart.

He inched forward with a smile plastered on his face.

He was standing behind her and she was completely unaware of his presence. She twirled again only to get bumped against his hard chest. Her foot twisted but before she could hit the ground, she felt Anirudh's arms around her waist tugging her up. She felt electricity run down her body, her heart thumping wildly.

Her hands were gripping his shoulders tightly whilst his gaze was fixed on her. Anirudh's heart was thumping wildly inside his chest and it was the same with Bondita. His eyes were so deep just like an ocean and she wanted to drown into them. Their eyes were locked together. The contact of his hands with her bare skin was making Bondita feel butterflies.

When his hands suddenly grazed her waist chain, she murmured ," Birristera Babu.."

He was so into her that he just hummed, " Hmm..."

"Can you let me go?" she said, innocently.

"No."

Bondita gawked at him and it took Anirudh a few moments to realize what he just said. His eyes widened and he let her go as he said, looking away," Of course, Bondita. Just be a little careful."

Hazaaron kaam mil gaye hain
Yun baithe bithaye iss nakaam ko
Jab saiyan aaye shaam ko
To lag gaye chand mere naam ko

Bondita saw his face flushed red with embarrassment and she chuckled. He was not looking at her which made her frown. His back was turned to her.

She gripped his arm from behind and made him look at her. She was smiling at him and before he could say anything, she pulled him down on the ground with her and smiled cheekily. He was bewildered.

She just stood up to his amazement and just wandered along the stranded river bank. He relaxed on the ground and observed her. She was now roaming around the Gulmohar tree. She pressed her body against the trunk of the tree and laughed heartily when the flowers fell on her face, making Anirudh adore her. It appeared as if the flowers were showering their love on her.

Anirudh looked around himself and in the silence that prevailed; he gazed at the beauty of the river around him. It was always a beautiful sight but Bondita's presence had made it more alluring.

"Aah!"

He heard her wince in pain and he sharply gazed at where she stood. He saw her leaning on the tree trunk with her eyes filled with tears. Her foot was slightly up from the ground and her hands were gripping onto the tree.

Anirudh rushed to her aid immediately and realized that something had pricked her foot. He knelt down in front of her and took her foot in his palms, making sure not to hurt her. She winced in pain, " Aah!"

It made his heart break to a million pieces. No matter what, he could not see her in pain. He very carefully observed the bottom of her foot and his eyes twitched when he saw that a sharp piece of wood had pricked her soft skin and blood oozed out.

Bondita held his shoulders for support, it ached a lot. He very carefully pulled the thing out of her foot and she gasped loudly. He wrapped his handkerchief around the wound and finally stood up.

Bondita had her eyes closed and tears were streaming down her face. He wiped them away and as she felt his touch on her cheek, she opened her eyes and was astounded.

She saw him in tears. Why would he cry over a small wound on her body?

She was leaning on the tree and she realized that there was an inch space between Anirudh and her. When did they get so close? His hands grazed her cheek as he uttered softly," Are you alright?"

She just looked at him dumbfounded. Why were his tears pricking her heart? Yes, she was falling for him, she knew. But she couldn't forget the fact that she was a prostitute, someone the whole world will despise. So why would this man who stood in front of her shed his tears for her? Why did he care for her so much? He was her master and she was his slave then why would he not treat her like one?

She stared into his eyes and her hands gripped the front of his shirt, pulling him closer to herself. She could feel his facial expressions changing. He was extremely close to her now, his hands caging her body. She was squished in between the tree and him.

She whispered, with tears in her eyes," Why do you care so much for me?"

He looked at her with so much love.

Love

Could he ever answer her question?

He whispered back as his breath tickled her face," I don't know."

He wiped her tears away as he said softly," Don't ever cry, Bondita."

Bondita felt her heart explode. She held his shirt firmly as she said," But I'm a prosti-"

Before she could complete, she felt his hands on her bare waist as he pulled her closer. She stumbled on him, clutching onto his shirt tightly. Her face was dangerously close to his. He looked at her sharply as he hissed ,"No, you're not. Don't use that word for yourself, Bondita."

Bondita was overwhelmed and her eyes were pooling up. What she felt could not be described into words.

She trailed her hand on his face, her heart thumping inside her chest. She asked," Who am I to you?"

Anirudh had his grip firm around her body. He never knew what love was. But what he felt for the girl who was in his arms was something that couldn't be described.

He looked at her as he uttered," You are my Goddess. I worship you."

Bondita was stunned. What did she do to get a man like him in her life?

Khudko dekhne tak ki bhi
Fursat mujhko nahi milti
Unke ishq ke noor ke aage
Shamma nahi jalti

Bondita didn't know if he loved her or not. But these words made her feel so loved, so wanted. She felt his breath fanning her lips. She couldn't register anything that was happening around herself. All she knew that she was in the arms of a man who worshipped her, who could fight the whole world for her. His face was so close to hers and his grip on the bare skin of her waist was doing wonders to her.

She looked at him. Yes, she loved him. For a prostitute, it was a sin to fall in love and she was happily the sinner. She had fallen in love, despite all warnings, despite all the confinements.

It was no different for Anirudh. Yes, he worshipped her.

Was it love?

He let himself move with the flow. His heart was beating rapidly inside his chest as he felt Bondita so close to him. It just felt so right. He inched closer towards her ear, his cheek rubbing against hers. As a result, Bondita gripped his broad shoulders  and squirmed under his touch. It felt heavenly.

He whispered, intensely,"

There are some unspoken words on your lips. May I read them with mine?"

Bondita's felt her heart jump in ecstasy and pleasure. Anirudh didn't know what he was doing but it just felt right.

She hummed," Hmm"

Anirudh left her all of a sudden to look at her intensely. Her body was leaning against the tree and she was all breathless. Her face was flushed red and he like a possessed soul, inched forward. Bondita lowered her gaze but when she felt his hands gripping her neck from both sides, she looked up at him. His touch was so gentle. His hands grazed her neck, making her breathless.

She inched closer, clutching his shirt tightly. His hand moved up to cup her face and his gaze lingered on her quivering lips. His breath fanned her lips, their bodies completely pressed onto each other.

And then, just as the breeze fluttered, their lips met for a brief moment. Just as he pressed his rough lips on her soft ones, both of them felt their bodies bursting with bliss. They pulled away, her hands on his chest and his hands holding her neck in place.

Their lips met again. They melted in each other completely, moving in sync. Anirudh had never felt this way, her lips were so soft. He felt so loved. His hands gripped her waist, holding her shivering body in place. Bondita kissed him with equal fervor and her arms were wrapped around his neck. His hands occasionally played with her waist chain, making her moan in between the kiss. Their bodies were pressed onto each other completely as both of them burned in passion.

It was a passionate encounter, an encounter that was induced out of the love they felt for each other. But this love was unknown to them for they had been oblivious to it from so long.

For a man who had never loved and for a girl who was called a 'whore' , it was something new, it was something different from the worldly beliefs.

Laakhon naaz lag gaye hai
Fir guroor ke iss badnaam ko
Jab saiyaan aaye shaam ko
To lag gaye chand mere maam ko

They were in love, love that could burn down the whole world. Their love was sinful, it would lead to destruction for whenever two different worlds would collide, and devastation would always be there on the cards.

But they remained unaware as they savored the taste of this blissful feeling, called Love.

SINFUL LOVE.
