"With Love"

~Christmas Morning~

Austria was awake early, sitting on the couch his legs crossed as he sipped his coffee. The room so elegantly decorated with poinsettia on the fireplace and in a vase in the middle of the coffee table. Tinsel and red ribbons were precisely placed around the room on every surface. Let's not forget about the tree and all its glory. Austria may have not set up the tree but it was obvious he was the one who decorated it, intricate red and gold ornaments scattered about, the tree also covered with poinsettias. The lights twinkled and sparkled, switching between red and a pale yellow color.

Under the tree laid gifts, most from Santa Finland, but Austria made sure to get some for everyone who was coming over. Prussia, Germany and Hungary were all in the house fast asleep. Or that's what he at least thought.

Hungary had woken up excited for the morning. She was also excited to give Austria his gift. Although their 'marriage' during the Austro-Hungary days was over, she still liked being near him and doing things like shopping, cooking and just relaxing with him. Hungary would never admit it but she loves Austria. She made her way downstairs expecting to be the only one awake but to her surprise Austria was sitting on the couch sipping away at his coffee.

Austria heard a noise and looked over to see that she was awake. "Oh you're up, Frohe Weihnachten* Hungary." he said setting dow his coffee on the little table in front of him.

Hungary smiled, "Good Morning and Kellemes Karácsonyt ** Austria. You're so up early."

*Frohe Weihnachten- 'Merry Christmas' in German, how they say it in Austria too.

**Kellemes Karacsonyt- Hoe most hungarians say 'Merry Christmas'

Austria cleaned his glasses a bit, he was nervous to give hungary his gift. He wasn't so sure if she would like it but he could only hope.

"I couldn't go back to sleep once I woke up so I decided to just drink coffee and wait for the other others to join us." He said as he put on his glasses.

Austria still had bed head and was wearing some purple silk pajamas but had a velvet red robe over it. He also was wearing some fuzzy purple slippers. Hungary looked like a mess. Her hair was tangled and puffed, her white night shirt was hanging off one shoulder, her red pants looked too big for her.

"While we wait for Germany and Prussia to wake up I at least want to give you your gift. Is that alright with you?" Hungary asked heading over to the tree.

She picked up a neatly wrapped gift, it was no bigger than an average hardcover book. The wrapping paper was silver which stood out from the rest of the gifts. She walked back to Austria and handed him the gift. He was almost hesitant to take it but he was very curious to see what Hungary got him. He ripped apart the wrapping paper just tossing it to the floor next to him. He opened the box and first noticed the note written in surprisedly good handwriting.

'Dear Austria,

I hope you like this gift. I also want to wish you a very Merry Christmas and hope that you get all the things you want.

P.S. This is my first time knitting.

With Love,

Hungary.'

Austria blushed a bit as he saw that she had made him some gloves out of red wool. He picked them up they were so soft to the touch. He tried them on and couldn't believe how perfect of a fit they were. Austria always complained about his hands being cold especially during winter, but he was too cheap to go out and get new ones for himself. He also forgets to ask Santa Finland every year.

Hungary just smiled and looked at him, "What do you think?"

"They so wonderful and soft, they're very lovely Hungary thank you so much." he said looking at her.

He then got up and walked over to the tree. Austria bend down to pick up a gift wrapped in gold wrapping paper with a red ribbon around it. He then handed it to Hungary.

"Since I opened yours will you open mine?" he asked.

The gift was in a small box roughly 5 in/127 mm by 6 in/152.4 mm. Hungary sat next to Austria gently unwrapping his gift. She tossed the wrapping paper in the same little pile that Austria made. She saw that it was in a Jeweler's box and opened it. The first thing she saw was a note written in the fancy handwriting of Austria. The note read,

'Dear Hungary.

Merry Christmas, you bring such joy to me daily and I hope that you always are full of the same joy. I got you this gift as way of saying thank you for putting up with me. I hope you like it and get all the things you wanted.

With Love,

Austria.'

Hungary then saw the beautiful diamond necklace. The chain was silver and was scattered with little diamonds, the pendant was a tulip decorated with small rubies. She couldn't believe what she was seeing. Austria, the most cheap man she knows well besides Switzerland, gave her a diamond necklace. Those kinds of things aren't cheap, and by the looks of it, the necklace was custom made. The tulip was her national and favorite flower. This made her tear up a bit.

Austria noticed her tears, "Do you not like it I can go get you another better gift if you like?"

Hungary shook her head, "No, I'm sorry it's just very lovely I love it Austria. Thank you so much." she said smiling.

Austria smiled and hugged her gently, "With love."

Hungary smiled, "With love"
