The day passed by rather quickly, much to my despair. For the first time since I started high school I actually managed to have a good day, and that was mostly because of Nate. Never in my life had I met someone like him. He was one of the greatest people I've ever met. He was sweet, funny, respectful, and very intelligent, unlike the other ignorant humans that attended this retched school. I rather enjoyed his company as well. He had this atmosphere about him that just made me feel so comfortable; it was like I didn't have a care in the world when I was around him, and I actually kind of liked that.

Currently the two of us were walking down the hallway towards my locker. The bell had rang about a minute ago, and although today was actually a good day I still couldn't wait to get home. No matter how nice of an atmosphere Nathan held, this school still suffocated me.

"There's a lot of stuck up people in this school," he laughed as I opened up my locker. "Not one of them have even attempted to talk to me."

"Yeah. I hate them all," I responded as I shoved my textbooks into my locker.

"At least you're not stuck up. I'm perfectly fine just having you as a friend," he chuckled.

I smiled and shut my locker, pulling my bag back over my shoulder.

"Likewise."

The two of us walked down the hallway. Like normal it was pretty difficult to get through with all of the students gathered in one space. The same girl from Friday--who was named Jessica as I've been told--even decided to make her presence known again. A knock to my shoulder was all that it took to make me angry, but all she did was laugh.

"Gross. Now I have to wash her slut germs off of my arm," I exclaimed loud enough for her to hear. She only scoffed and carried on out the door while I rolled my eyes at her actions. My patience for these slag heads were running dangerously low.

"Wow. You have no chill whatsoever," Nate chuckled as we walked out the school doors.

I shrugged and stopped so I could continue talking to him. "She won't ever fight me, so..."

He smiled and shook his head before averting his attention towards the road. "That's a nice fucking truck over there," he chimed.

I followed where he was looking and my eyes landed on the very familiar 2015 GMC Topkick sitting in front of the school. A little laugh escaped my mouth when I realized that it was in fact my father.

"That's my dad," I informed him.

He looked down at me. "Well, your dad has a nice ass truck. And I thought my dad's truck was nice."

It was only funny because the truck was only a truck in an essence. It was actually a living creature from a fallen planet which goes by the name of Cybertron.

"Uh, I guess it's nice. It's kind of an old model though," I snickered.

"Older models are better models," he replied with a wink. "Anyway, I was wondering if you had any plans this weekend?"

I pursed my lips, slightly surprised with his question. Nobody's ever asked me to hang out before. Besides Ethan, of course, but he was family; he didn't count.

"No. Why do you ask?" I replied without even thinking.

"Would you possibly want to hang out with me? You could show me around Washington or something," he muttered. He seemed a bit nervous and I had no clue why. I mean, it was just me. Nothing special.

"Sure," I chuckled. "We could go eat or something. But I should probably get going before my dad kills me. I'll see you tomorrow, yeah?"

He smiled and nodded. "Yeah, of course. Thank you for today. I'll see you tomorrow."

He gave me an awkward one arm hug before running off. I just shook my head and hurried towards the truck. The moment I was situated my dad wasted no time in taking off down the street, nor did he waste any time asking who Nate was.

"So, who was that boy you were conversing with?"

"That was Nate. He's new to school," I answered.

He raised a brow and looked at me. "Are you in a relationship with him? He was quite affectionate with you before he took off."

What?

"No, dad. I just met him today. Gosh," I grumbled. I could feel my cheeks heating up in embarrassment. Sometimes he was the absolute worst.

"Good. Like I said, you're seventeen. You needn't worry about a relationship right now," he replied.

I only laughed, and it was not because what he said was in anyway amusing. If anything it was very hypocritical. If I remembered correctly, my mom said that her and my dad got together when she was seventeen, so my dad was full of shit.

"What's funny?"

"Nothing. Just that you're incredibly hypocritical."

He raised a brow. It was clear that he wasn't sure what I meant by my words. "What the slag are you going on about?"

"You got with mom when she was seventeen, yet here you are telling me not to worry about a relationship at seventeen. That's so backwards, dad," I snickered.

"Well, when I remember the way I hurt your mother at that age I think about how much I would loathe watching you go through the same thing because of a male's stupidity. I am only looking out for you," he told me.

"Whoa, I'm starting to think you actually care," I teased.

"That, and I am still forbidden from harming the humans. I would very much appreciate if you would not give me a plausible reason to actually do so, Kaelyn."

"Okay, Ironhide," I smiled.

"But I know you'll disobey me, so please be careful. Guard your emotions as much as you possibly can. Male humans are a very unpredictable and deceitful species. I see too many femmes suffering because of them," he retorted, a frown coming onto his face.

It didn't take a genius to know he was indirectly talking about Adalyn. She was a single parent who worked every single day just to help tend to her family's needs. Her boyfriend of five years found out she was pregnant, and he left her without so much as a simple explanation. It turned out that he had been cheating on her with some blonde girl who worked at Walmart. She became depressed, and even thought about aborting the babies in hopes that her piece of shit boyfriend would come back to her. My parents were the ones who talked her out of it, and my dad was actually the one who helped her get through the whole depression thing. Apparently he's been exceptionally protective over her since some incident with her brothers took place back in 2011. Either way, after her twins were born she was happier than ever, and now she was one of the most successful medical doctors in the state of South Carolina, and her ex was in prison. She's winning at life right now, to be honest.

"I'll be careful, dad. I promise," I assured him.

He gave me that look that said "you better" before getting out. It took me about two seconds to register that we were now home, so I wasted no time in following him into the house.

I placed my school bag down in its normal spot by the door and ran passed my dad into the kitchen. Almost immediately I opened up the fridge and began rummaging through. I've eaten nothing since this morning, and I was starving. I grabbed a bottle of Arizona tea, the pickles, the last two pieces of cold pizza, and a few leftover chicken legs before sitting down at the dining table. I didn't even bother heating anything up before shoving it into my mouth. I was just that hungry.

"Wow," my mom's voice sounded. "I knew I should have hidden that damn pizza."

I chuckled before handing her a slice. She smiled and took it, wasting no time at all in scarfing it down.

"So, did Adalyn and the twins leave or something? It's quiet."

"Yeah. Adalyn's boss called her and told her she was going to have to come in tomorrow. She showed up at my work just to say goodbye," she laughed.

I frowned and put a pickle slice in my mouth. "I'm gonna miss her."

"She'll be back in a month for vacation. Her kids are going to be on spring break, and she claims she has nowhere else to go."

I chuckled. "Oh, Adalyn."

"Anyways," my mom started, placing a pickle slice in her mouth. "How was school?"

"It was actually decent for once," I answered her.

She almost seemed shocked by my words. "What? Since when is school ever decent to you?"

"It's not, but I made a friend today and he helped make it so that my day was particularly decent." I smiled just thinking about Nate. He was just so nice, and so cute, and everything else.

"Wait...your friend is a he? Is he cute? Describe him for me," she smirked.

"Uh, short dirty blonde hair, tanned skin, very defined jawline, and he's very built. He's pretty much one of the most attractive males I've ever seen in my life, and one of the few humans I can actually tolerate," I told her.

"He sounds very attractive, Kay."

"Who sounds very attractive?" a deep voice sounded.

I nearly choked on my pickle slice. Since when could he walk in a room without making a single sound?

"Ooh, Azalea's been caught," I laughed.

She shot me a smirk. "You only live once, baby girl. But we're talking about Kaelyn's attractive new friend, Hide. You should really join us," she told him, taking a drink of my tea.

He shook his head at us. "It's quite hard to believe that the two most important beings in my life are also the bane of my very existence."

"It's good to know that you actually care though. I was beginning to think you were growing tired of us," she responded with a mouth full of pickle slices.

"Shut up, Azalea."

I laughed at their little exchange. Their relationship was so cute; they were serious, yet they were also playful and I loved that about them.

"I like it when you get annoyed with me; it's hilarious. But either sit down and be quiet, or leave. We're trying to have a serious conversation here," my mom retorted.

"For the love of Primus," he grumbled before sitting down beside her.

I shook my head and looked back at my mom, shoving another pickle slice into my mouth. It seems as if Azalea was going to have to buy more.

"So, what's your friend's name?" she asked with a smile.

"Nathan, but he told me to call him Nate."

"That's hot," she snickered.

"I can not stand you two," my dad spoke up. He got up from the table and walked out of the kitchen without another word. I couldn't help but laugh at how immature he could be.

"I love him so much it's insane," my mom chimed. It sounded almost as if she was speaking absentmindedly. She tended to do that a lot when she thought about dad.

"Trust me. I know, Cappy knows, everyone knows, the entire galaxy knows how dangerously in love you are with dad, mom."

She shot me a look. "Did I say that out loud?"

"Yes."

"Damn. Well, anyway. Back to what we were talking about..."

"He wants me to hang out with him this weekend," I said.

"Are you?" she inquired before downing the rest of my tea.

"Isn't that up to you?" I laughed.

She shrugged. "I guess so. Just don't let Ironhide know. He's like very protective over you, so he'll probably freak out about it."

"I can assure you that I already am!" a loud voice echoed.

"At least now we don't actually have to tell him," my mom mused.

All I could do was laugh at her. I adored my parents so much it was insane.
