Evil Twins & Deep Thoughts

The very annoying sound of my cousins' voices awoke me from my slumber. I let out a throaty growl and opened my eyes just enough to look at the clock on my bedside table. It was fucking 9:47 in the morning on Saturday! My eyes should not have opened at least until noon.

I pulled the comforter over my head in hopes to drown out the sound of Emma's and Noah's voices, but to no avail. It almost sounded as if they were getting closer, and that actually scared.

It was suddenly quiet, and I smiled in relief. I settled back into my mattress, and was more than ready to drift off again until I heard a giggle. I shot up almost immediately and turned my head to see the little delinquents playing in my closet. Noah was struggling to pull one of my shirts over his head, and I found myself becoming very angry. They weren't supposed to be in here!

"What the slag are you doing?" I exclaimed rather loudly, and angrily.

They spun around at the sound of my voice, and I only became angrier as I watched the shirt in Noah's grasp rip. Emma squealed and ran out of the bedroom as I got up from my bed, while Noah dropped the shirt to the floor and followed her out. I growled and picked up the shirt to find that it was the one my Cappy got for me overseas last year; it was my favorite shirt and now it was fucking ruined. I was going to kill those little wenches.

I ran out of my room, my anger growing with each step I took. They have been given specific orders to never come into my room, and they've also been told to leave my belongings alone, but they never listen. You'd think a couple of thirteen year olds would have a bit more respect for someone than that, but apparently not. This is exactly why I hated children, and I didn't care that they were family either.

"Noah!" I yelled as I jumped off of the last step.

My first instinct was to look in the living room, so that's exactly what I did. Unfortunately for me, there was no sign of the little idiots anywhere. Instead it was just Adalyn and my parents.

"What's wrong, Kaelyn?" my mom asked me.

"Those delinquents are what's wrong," I grumbled. "By the way, it's lovely to see you, Ada. Care to tell me where your children are?"

She only laughed. Oddly enough, she never took offense when I insulted her kids; none of them did to be honest. They actually thought it was rather amusing, but I found nothing child involved to be amusing. Apparently I was just like my dad when it came to children, only I had deeper hatred for them than he did.

"I haven't seen them. I've only heard them. What did they do this time?" she asked.

"They came into my room while I was sleeping, got in my clothes, and Noah ripped my favorite shirt. I'm going to kill him," I seethed.

"Oh gosh," my mom mumbled.

A movement in the corner of my eye caught my attention, and I turned my head to see Noah standing in the main hallway of the house. He stuck his tongue out at me and ran away, only making me angrier. I muttered a few Cybertronian curses under my breath and attempted to run after him only to be pulled back by my father.

"Let me go," I growled as I tried to wriggle my way out of his arms.

"Calm yourself," he scolded as he pulled me onto his lap.

I let out a huff of defeat and made myself comfortable. It was still so weird just how easily my father could calm me when nobody else could. Not even my mom could calm me the way he could, but I wasn't necessarily complaining about it. Had it not been for him I probably would have slammed Noah's brainless little head into a window.

I was still exceptionally angry, but I wasn't as angry as I was before. If anything I was now tired again after being woken up so rudely. With a yawn, I cuddled myself further into my father's holoform and he wrapped his arms tightly around me as if he were attempting to protect me from something. I smiled in content and laid my head against his chest, receiving a kiss on my head in return. I preferred loving exchanges like this with my dad instead of bickering with him all the time.

Before I knew it I was being shaken awake. My eyes flashed open and I found myself staring into a bright blue pair of eyes. I frowned and closed my eyes again, nestling further into my father. He sighed and shook me again, much to my despair.

"What, daddy?" I muttered. I was too tired to speak clearly.

"Wake up, Kaelyn."

I only shook my head, and the next thing I knew I was being lifted. I kept my eyes closed, not entirely worried about where I was being transported to. My dad held me tightly as he climbed the staircase, and I almost thought he was going to put me back in bed, but instead he placed me on the floor. I opened my eyes completely this time and looked at him, a frown on my face.

"What?" I asked as I rubbed my eyes.

"Get dressed. We're going out to eat. And please for the love of Primus wear pants that cover your legs." He kissed my forehead before hurrying out of the room.

I shook my head at his protective little statement and walked over to my closet to get something to wear. It was Spring here in Washington DC, but it was still particularly cool. I took out my grey cardigan and my black combat boots before grabbing a grey t-shirt and some light wash skinny jeans from my drawers. Once I had all of my clothes gathered I ran into the bathroom to have a quick shower. Soon enough I was dressed, my only problem being my unruly hair. I grabbed a dark grey beanie from my top drawer and put it on my head before finally heading downstairs.

I was about to walk into the living room when Noah approached me. I glared at him, still not over the fact that he ripped my favorite t-shirt.

"What do you want, child?" I questioned.

"Mom's making me apologize for ripping your shirt, so I'm sorry."

"Don't you dare ever go in my room again, and I suggest you leave my stuff alone. I trust you'll pass on the message to your sister," I scolded him. He nodded and I smirked. "Good. Now where is everyone?"

"Outside waiting on you," he answered before running out the door.

I followed him out the door. He ran to his mom's car while I ran to my dad, really. The back door opened automatically and I climbed in. Dad wasted no time in taking off.

"Where are we going to eat?" I asked, leaning towards the front.

"Olive Garden. Now sit back," my mom chided.

"Is it just gonna be us, Adalyn, and Satan's spawns?"

Dad snickered at my little remark while my mom just rolled her eyes at the both of us. Sometimes I wondered how it was possible for her to handle us both.

"No, Kay. Sam, Carly, and Ethan are also going to be there, and I think dad is going to be there," she told me as she typed away on her phone.

I chuckled. "My dad or yours?"

"Mine, you dumbass. We're kind of in yours at the moment," she retorted.

Nothing about that sentence sounded right, no matter how true it actually was. I blamed the very thought on uncle Sam, uncle Leo, and Ethan. They were the most vulgar-minded human beings I knew.

"Um," I started to say, but was cut off.

"Don't say a word," my dad chastised me. He knew me entirely too well, and it was rather frightening if you asked me.

I laughed, but other than that I was silent the rest of the ride. When we finally parked I wasted no time in jumping out. It wasn't because I was hungry, but because of the man I saw leaning against the wall of the restaurant. The moment he saw me he smiled, and he held his arms out to me. I ran into them without another thought.

"It's so good to see you, kiddo," my grandfather greeted me.

I smiled and pulled away from him. "You're getting scruffy, Cappy." His goatee was growing into a beard, and it was making him look much older than he actually was.

"That's what happens when you get old and lazy," he mused. He ruffled my hair before turning to greet my mom.

"Kaelyn Olivia!" I heard someone call.

I turned my head to see Ethan running up to me. Behind him were his parents, Sam and Carly. I smiled as he hugged me, picking me up off of the ground in the process.

"It's very nice to see you, Ethan," I chuckled.

Ethan was the only young person I could actually stand. He wasn't that much younger than me; I was 17 and he was 16, so there wasn't much of an age difference. He was the closest thing I'd ever get to a sibling, mostly because I could tolerate him and my mom apparently wasn't about that pregnant life. She was about that over dramatic life though, let me tell you that.

"Spending the rest of our night surrounded by old people. A dream come true," he muttered.

I snickered, causing my dad to look at me.

"Some older than you may think," I whispered to Ethan, although I knew my dad could hear it either way. All he did was smirk at me.

For the next five minutes we sat outside and spoke to one another. I mainly stayed by Ethan's side while the older people talked, and Emma and Noah ran around like they had no sense. I was quite relieved once we were finally seated, and I was very relieved once they brought out the salad. Everyone ate, aside from my dad; he just sat and talked to Cappy.

I was almost halfway through with my salad when I noticed a young couple about my age being seated at the table across from us. The way they interacted with each other made me so happy, but it also made me excruciatingly envious. I hoped one day I could have a relationship like that, but I highly doubted that I'd ever get one. Nobody could ever fully begin to understand me or what I was, which was a weird freak, by the way. I was half robot, half human. I mean, who in their right mind would ever want be with someone with metal rods for bones, or a mysterious blue liquid called Energon for blood? This is why I didn't have any friends; I didn't want to befriend someone, tell them what I actually was, and then have them laugh in my face and walk away. Yes, my aunts and uncles loved me for what I was, but they were kind of obligated to. Other humans were not, and it actually made me upset knowing that I would never be happy like that with someone else.

"Kaelyn," I heard someone say.

Almost immediately I tore my eyes away from the couple and looked at my father who was watching me with a curious, yet concerned, look on his face. Aside from him, almost everyone was looking at me, and it didn't take me long to figure out why. While I was studying the couple, my emotions must have gotten the best of me because I wound up splitting my plate in two with my fork. This was another reason I would probably never get what I wanted out of life; what boy wants to be with a girl that's ten times stronger than they are?

"Sorry," I mumbled before pushing the dish away. It was almost as if my hunger had completely dissipated.

"What's wrong, Kay?" I heard my mom ask.

"Nothing. I'm fine. Don't worry about me. Go back to talking," I instructed her, as well as everyone else. I received a few looks, but as quickly as they came they left...all except for my father's. I forced a smile at him and looked back down at my split plate. Hopefully it wasn't that expensive.
