'I'm fine'
Isn't that what we all say.
Even on the days the walls come crashing.
Isn't it almost always a lie.

'I'm a mess'
Not an appropriate answer, mother said.
'I'm sad'
People shouldn't know your business.
'I just want to crawl under a bed'
You shouldn't cry so loud, society hates that.

We live life as lies everyday.
Day in day out.
Learning to perfect the act.
Knowing how best to paint over scars.
And how best to wipe tears.

Today, I'm not fine.
I just need a hot cup of coffee and a good book. Maybe then I'll be fine.

Today, My walls are in place.
I had a good night's rest.

Today, I won't be lying.
