Kyla

I watched as they lowered her into the ground, a few tears slid down my face as my heart broke all over again. Despite our disagreement, Laura was someone special to me and I loved her like a sister. I wish we had a chance to really talk things out, and at least come to a mutual understanding, but we can't control what goes on in this crazy world.

Her mom cried loudly, begging God to bring her daughter back. I turned my face into Mekai's chest, not able to bare the sight anymore. He held me close, comforting me quietly.

Who would want to kill Laura? She stayed to herself, and had a good heart overall.

"Thanks for watching the kids, Clint." I said as we entered Mekai's parents' home

"You don't gotta' thank me, I barely see them enough as is." He said giving Kason some more yogurt bites

"I know, but you know y'all always welcome to visit."

"Just call first. She might be a lil' pint up." Mekai added with a sarcastic smile

I nudged him

"I mean we might be busy."

"Yeah, busy getting busy." Joyce added, walking in behind them

"Keep it up, you gone have another lil' mouth to feed." Sylvia added, closing the front door "Where's Cam?" she asked Clinton

"She fell asleep not too long ago. The twins kept crawling on her, so I put her in Mekai's old room about fifteen minutes ago." He said

"Thanks." She smiled while going to check on her

"So how was the service?"

"It was good...unreal, but it was a nice service." I sighed, picking up a whining Kacey "Hey big girl."

I pecked her cheek and chuckled as she began scrunching up her face. "Lil girl" I sucked my teeth and put her down

"Da! DaDa!" she clapped before crawling over to Mekai

"That's sad." I shook my head "You spoil her too much."

He picked Kacey up "You just mad 'cause they won't say mama."

"Boy" I fanned him off, sitting on the mat beside Kason "So, who wants to go out to eat?"

"Uhm, sweetie." My mom came from the back room "Didn't you just eat at the repass?"

"Yeah, so?"

"And you wanna go eat again?"

"At a restaurant?" Joyce leaned against the wall

"A buffet preferably." I rolled Kason's basketball to him, making him squeal in excitement

"Aw hell." They said in unison

"Let us have a lil woman to woman talk in the kitchen." My mom headed into the kitchen along with Joyce

"Okay?" I got up, following in confusion

"Sweetie, how long you been eating heavy like this?" Sylvia asked her daughter

"I don't know. I just been eating" I shrugged "So that's what y'all pulled me in here for?"

"You been having any other weird symptoms...?" Joyce asked

"Like when you were carrying the twins..." Joyce  finished off

"What?" I chuckled "No...Oh y'all think I'm-"

"Pregnant? Nah she ain't." Mekai could be heard talking to Clint from the living room

"It's just a suggestion." Sylvia stated

"You hear them baby?" Kyla walked back into the living room "Tryna' wish more kids on people wit' twins."

"I hear it. So negative" he shook his head, standing Kacey on the floor and holding her arms securely

"That's what this test better say." Sylvia pulled a pregnancy test from her bag

"Ma?" Kyla questioned as to why her mom, forty five years of age, had a pregnancy test.

"Chile, I got it when we stopped at the gas station after the funeral. Don't even." She handed her daughter the test

Kyla huffed, taking it "Fine, just to prove to y'all that I'm not." She raised the test in the air, heading off to the bathroom

While she was in the bathroom, Mekai's phone rang.

"Da' lady that took y'all kids out on bail." Dom rushed out when Mekai answered

"Yo, where you seeing dis'?"

"Her ass was at Laura's funeral. Who da'  fuck is she, G? Like where she even fuckin' come from?" He raised his voice

"I don't know man." Mekai took a deep sigh, having to lie to his best friend "She crazy."

"How dare she show up to my fiancé funeral? Like da' fuck...Kai man...dis' shit man-" he took a deep breath before belching loudly

Mekai got up, going in the kitchen.

" You gone get through it, you strong, and when you can't be strong you know where you can come bro. We family, you know dat."

"I appreciate dat' G" he sounded like he was about to cry "Serious-Seriously Kai. You like a brother to me."

"Like blood, always. But uhm, where lil dude?" He asked, referring to Dom and Laura's son, Arian.

Mekai could tell by his tone, Dom was drunk, and most likely still drinking.

"Wit' Laura's momma'...you know dat' bitch said she feel it's best she take Arian?" He yelled

"Damn, she fucked up." I stated my brief opinion

"All because I came to da' fu-funeral a lil' tipsy...Was I driving my son tho'? No! So dat' bitch can suck my dick through a crazy straw."

"Man, what." Mekai accidentally chuckled "You got a point though" He finished "Look, you need a friend right now. I'ma be there in 'bout 30"

"A'ight man. Make sure y'all put dat' Olivia bitch in jail, our kids all we got sometime, and she tried to take them from you." he said before hanging up

What Dom didn't know was how Kyla took Olivia's child from her. Mekai sat at the table, deep in thought.

"Thank the Lord!" Sylvia exclaimed

Mekai went back into the living room to see what was going on.

"Ne-ga-tive." Kyla grinned, dancing over to him

Their children are their biggest blessings, but they could definitely wait before having more right now.

"Whew." He let out a small sigh of relief as they embraced each other, sharing a small peck

"And all that baby talk killed my appetite." She chuckled "I'm enjoying the soon to be one year olds we have already."

"Most definitely." He pecked her lips again

"All dat' kissin' lead to baby makin'." Joyce joked

Mekai sucked his teeth "I'm finna' go chill wit' Dom for a few, you good here with the twins?"

"We'll come with you."

"Dom a lil' too lit right now baby." He chuckled "Arian ain't even there."

"Ok, understandable. Let me know how everything's going. Love you, be safe."

"Love you too lil momma'." He pecked her lips again before grabbing his keys,  kissing the twins, then leaving.
