"You seen my grey and white shirt?" Mekai asked, coming into the bedroom

"Mm, nah. When's the last time you wore it?" Kyla put her earrings on

"Like two weeks ago, but I can't find it now" he buckled his belt

"I haven't seen it." she shrugged, making a mental note to buy him another shirt, seeing as the other one had blood in it that wouldn't come out

"I'll just wear this one" Mekai picked up a black shirt and slipped it on

"You look good in anything" she pecked his lips "But you look better in nothing at all"

"Likewise" he gripped her butt, pulling her closer to engage in a deep kiss

Kyla pulled away, smirking at him "What you doing?"

"Tryna fuck yo brains out before we leave for class" he mumbled, kissing down her neck

"Nooo" she chuckled, moving away from him

"Why not? I ain't had it in like three weeks, I'm finna reach a whole 'nother level of crazy, babe" he groaned, licking his lips

"I just haven't been feeling up to that lately. All we do is have sex, let's just enjoy each other without sex for a while"

Mekai side eyed her "You takin' drugs?"

"So I gotta be taking drugs to just wanna enjoy my man?" Kyla laughed

"I'm just making sure, because you know you love me being inside you as much as I love being there myself, and that's a lot" he still held her by the waist

"I'm sure. Now come on, we gotta leave for school"

"I gotta go handle a problem with some lotion real quick" he headed for the bathroom

"Don't use my-"

"Too late" Mekai grabbed her lotion bottle

She rolled her eyes before heading out the bedroom

"Mama, I'm fine" Kyla answered Sylvia

"What about the court dates? You going to any of them?"

"Do I have to?" she asked, not wanting to see Eddie's face

"You don't have to, but it'd definitely make a huge difference if you were there to testify yourself" she explained

"Then I'll be there. When are they again?" She said without any hesitation this time

Kyla sent Mekai a text, letting him know that she wanted him to go out of town with her.

"Great, they start tomorrow. I know that's kind of soon, but you pushed things off for a long time. You can catch a flight out here around 3"

"Ok, Mekai said he'd come to" Kyla read Mekai's text aloud

"Good, good. How are things with you and Mekai?"

"Things are good, we've been great."

"Didn't I tell you he'd be fine about the no kids thing? That boy loves you, I'm so glad you told him"

Kyla stayed quiet, walking to the cafe on campus.

"You did tell him, didn't you?"

"Yeah, of course" she lied "Ma', I gotta go, I'm about to order my food"

"Alright. I love you"

"Love you too" Kyla said before hanging up

This baby thing and the whole thing with Eddie was wearing her down emotionally. She didn't feel like herself at times.

She brushed the feeling of sadness off as best as she could, taking a relaxing deep breath and picking up the menu. She sat alone today because Laura wasn't here.

"How you doing?"

"I'll have a- Professor Edwards? What you doing here?"

"I am human, I do have to eat." he chuckled

"I know, I just didn't expect you to eat here" she shrugged

"What's wrong with eating here?" he asked

"It just doesn't seem like your crowd."

"It's not, but the food is great. May I?" he pulled a chair over to the table

"Uhm, my friend is coming"  she felt weird as hell sitting at lunch with her teacher

"Oh, sorry" he lightly chuckled "I'll see you in class tomorrow?"

"Actually no, I'm going out of town with my boyfriend tomorrow." she didn't know why she felt the need to mention she had a boyfriend to her professor

"Oh, well see you soon" he smiled before walking off

"Our first game is soon! Get it together out there!" The assistant coach said

"Yeah Andrews! Get it together!" The assistant coach yelled at Mekai

"The fuck?" He scrunched up his face

It was about to be a re-enactment of  high school football season all over again. Mekai had been holding his composure, but his patience was running thin.

"Come on you guys, do that play again!" he shouted

"What you mean 'Andrews, get it together"?" he shouted back

"Just do the play, son"

"Nah, Andrews the only motherfucka' out here really doing shit since you wanna call me out. And I ain't ya damn son"

"I never said you weren't doing anything, I just said tighten up." The coach knew what he was doing

"Man, you know what?" Mekai chuckled "You right." After that, he ran back on the field, clenching his jaw

He took his anger out through practicing rather than on the coach, like he wanted to do.

After practice, Mekai and a few people from the football team decided to go out. He was working on being more social, so he figured this would work. After they arrived at a fellow college student's house party, he began having a decent time.

"So you're not mean all the time?" Bridgett rubbed his shoulder as she walked around him

"That's 'bout to change real quick" he pushed her hand off

"Because I've arrived? Most people say I'm the life of the party" she smirked

"Well you over here interfering in my life, go" he took a gulp of Hennessy straight from the bottle, taking a pull from the blunt right behind it

"Why are you always so mean to me? What have I really done to you to make you so mean to me?"

"I don't owe you any explanations, but my girl don't like you, neither do I." he mugged her

"Your lil girlfriend is what's in the way of our friendship?" she rubbed his shoulder again

"This the last time I'ma tell you to stop touching me. I can't hit you, but my lil' girlfriend will gladly rearrange yo face, possibly make the shit look better" he was lit, so his filter had now gone away.

Bridgett chuckled lightly before nodding and walking off.

Mekai enjoyed the rest of his night, getting beyond intoxicated.

The next morning, he sat up, holding his head. He looked around and noticed he wasn't in his own bed with Kyla laying next to him. Mekai looked down and noticed he was completely naked, he instantly got up and began getting dressed.

"Good morning daddy" he heard a voice come in the room

When he looked up, he saw Bridgett standing there, in his t-shirt.

You done fucked up

Maybe I just slept over

Naked, dumbass? Oh you really finna lose Kyla now.

"How I get here?" he asked, putting on his boxers

"You don't remember last night? After our little interview, which is getting published by tomorrow, you came here and we wore each other out." she walked over to him, rubbing his chest

"Nah, you lyin'. I wouldn't fuck you" he yanked her hand off

"Welp, ya did. And it was wonderful too, just like I expected" she chuckled

He raised his fist "Bitch I'll-"

Risky!

Just hit her already

No, you could get into trouble. Just go home

Really? You still debating? End this bitch

Go home! Everything you have is on the line

He's already gonna lose his girl. Nothing else matters

You don't know that yet, and you won't find out if you're in jail. Go home

"You know what? You gone get yours bitch."

"By who? Your lil girlfriend?" she mocked him

"I'ma let yo ass have that, cus youn' know the damage I can do." he put on the last of his clothes, grabbed his belongings and left

"I know you damaged this pussy" she shouted behind him with a loud cackle

Once he got home, he immediately wanted to see Kyla. Maybe not to explain everything, but to at least apologize for staying out so late.

"Baby!" He shouted throughout the apartment

"Ky, where you at?" he looked around for her, but she wasn't there

Maybe she found out you cheated and left already

"Shut the fuck up" Mekai said, going into the closet, seeing she had packed some of her stuff

He immediately put his dead phone on the charger. As it charged a little, he sat there thinking of a way to try to explain everything. He was stuck in between telling her or not.

Look at you, I told you that you can't get rid of me. I'm a part of you, always.

Just 'cus you a part of me, don't mean you control me.

Once he heard his phone come on, he also heard all the notifications from last night come through. He had 47 missed calls from Kyla, 20 from Dominic, 17 from Laura, and 12 from Joyce.

"Fuck" he shook his head, going over to his messages

He had 31 messages from Kyla, 4 from Joyce, and 2 from Clinton.

He'd respond to everyone else later, right now he needed to talk to Kyla. He pressed her contact, letting it ring.

She answered on the 5th ring "What?"

"Baby, I'm sorry for staying out so late without telling you. Where you at?" Mekai responded almost immediately

"Mhm, and I'm out of town." she responded dryly

"Out of town where?"

"Seattle, my court case against Eddie starts today. I'll be here for about two weeks." The attitude was thick in her voice

"Don't you wanna know what happened? Aren't you mad I stayed out late?" Mekai asked

"Nah, not really. I'm actually more interested in why you would go out knowing the case was today. I'd been telling you since I found out yesterday that we were leaving tonight. You agreed to it, then went out to have fun instead"

"It slipped my mind after practice last night. I'm sorry baby, I-"

"Whatever. Look, I'll talk to you later." Kyla felt like she was weak without him there, him not being there irritated her

"I love you baby" Mekai said, with guilt on his heart

"I love you too" she mumbled before hanging up

Even though she was mad, she wasn't going to miss out on the opportunity to say she loved him back.

But that love was about to be tested...hard.
