"You've been stuck in this room all week, let's go have fun tonight" Laura said on the other end of the phone

"I don't wanna." I flatly replied

I thought me not talking to Mekai would make me feel better, but I feel worse than I did before. I stayed home an entire week, just so I wouldn't bump into him. He hasn't made any attempts to talk to me neither, even though I blocked him. But he could've texted me on another app, got someone else to contact me, or did one of his infamous pop ups. I guess us not talking is for the best though.

"Kyla Marie Parker, as your best friend I'm telling you that you need to get out of that damn house"

"I think you're being very selfish. I'm trying to be sad and you wanna go out and have fun" I nibbled on an Oreo

"Girl get up and get ready, I'll be there in an hour"

"Where are we even going?" I groaned

"You'll know when we get there, just dress very cute"

"Fine" she got up from her bed

"You got me out the house just to come to a house party?" I side eyed Laura as we walked throughout the crowded house

"You need to interact and have fun. Want a shot?"she poured herself one

"Sure" I rolled my eyes "Who's party is this?" I asked

"A friend of Dominic's" she spoke over the loud music

"Does that mean-"

"No Mekai won't be here." She handed me my drink

"Good" I tossed it back "Where's Dominic?"

"He should be here in a few, he said football practice ran late"

I nodded and poured myself another shot of Jameson Whiskey, then another, then another .

"You got me lying to my girl and shit" Dominic smacked his teeth as he drove to the party

"Nigga it ain't like you haven't lied before. This just a lil lie" Mekai said, sitting in the passenger seat

Once Mekai found out Kyla was going to be at the party, he made it his priority. He didn't want his girlfriend giggling and talking to other niggas, not on his watch.

"Why you couldn't drive your own car?" He turned down the street

"I don't want her to know I'm here. I just wanna see how she acting, feel me?"

"You wanna see if she done for good?" He parked in front of the house

"Yeah"

"Why don't you just ask her?" He squinted

"That ain't my style" they got out the car

"You a fuckin' creep" Dominic chuckled, shaking his head

"Ya mama love it" Mekai replied as they entered the house

"Watch it nigga" he warned "You got it from here?" He asked, referring to Mekai's mission to stalk Kyla

"Yeah, I'ma go find me a lil quiet corner" he dapped his friend up before they went their separate ways

Mekai grabbed himself a drink and did what he said, which was found himself a corner. His eyes scanned the party for a few minutes as he sipped on his drink, then he finally spotted Kyla.

From the looks of things, she was being a good girl so far. She was a little tipsy, but she wasn't doing anything that triggered Mekai.

~about an hour later

"Hey, I didn't know I'd run into you here" Lena approached him

He ignored her, pulling a blunt from his pocket.

"I don't get you Mekai" she sighed "You just had lunch with me last week and were all smiles, now it's back to the same old thing"

"I was being dumb last week, now get out my space" he lit his blunt

"Ugh!" She picked up a drink, about to toss it on him

He hit her hand midway, making the drink fly back on her "Bitch is you crazy?"

"I hate you!" She shrieked, walking off

He chuckled, taking a long drag from his blunt then went back to hawking Kyla. But to his surprise, she had had moved from the spot she was recently in.

"Fuck she go?" He asked himself, standing up and getting a better view of the crowd

His eyes darted around the room, then they finally landed on her. She was leaning against a wall talking to someone. Mekai squinted, getting a better look at the person. Once he realized who it was, his plans of being incognegro went out the window.

He pushed through the crowd, making his way over to them. He saw their faces inching closer and he practically began leaping over anything in his way.

"Just let me talk to you" Calvin said

I'm a little drunk, so why not? I probably won't remember any of this.

"Alright" I said as we walked somewhere a little quieter

"I saw myself having something with you. You were cool, smart, funny, beautiful, and I never got the chance to fully enjoy that. I feel like we could've really been-"

I grew tired of him babbling "Just shut up and kiss me"

We both leaned in slowly. His hand cupped my face and-

"So this what you doing?" I heard a voice that made me and Calvin jump "You out here kissing other niggas?"

"One, we didn't kiss yet...B, I was told you weren't gonna be here" I rolled my eyes at an angry Mekai

"Man you need to chill. Maybe she don't want you any-" he cut Calvin off, sending a hard punch to his face

Calvin's head bounced off the wall and Mekai continued sending jabs to his face and body. "Stop it!" I shouted

By now, a few people crowded around and began recording. Calvin attempted to fight back, but that was a fail compared to Mekai.

There goes my buzz

"Mekai stop!" I saw blood coming from Calvin's nose and lip.

He ignored me, beating on Calvin until he was down on the ground. Finally, Dominic appeared and pulled him off "Bruh stop, you gone kill him!"

Mekai's chest heaved up and down as a light sheet of sweat covered him "Let's go" he grabbed my arm, pulling me

"You're hurting me" I tried to get out of his tight embrace as I was practically being dragged out the house

"Let me go!" I jerked free from him once we were outside "Fuckin' idiot"

"The fuck you call yourself doing in there?" He yelled, getting in my face

"Enjoying myself" I shrugged

"Kyla, I ain't playing with you. Do you really wanna fuckin' die?" He pushed me against someone's car and gripped my shoulders

I stayed quiet, a little scared of the look he had in his eyes.

"You block me for a whole fucking week and I find yo ass here all over another nigga!? You think this shit a game?"

"I needed a break from you!" I shouted. We silently stared at each other for a few seconds "This relationship is too much...one minute it's up, then it's down. I can't do this"

"You can't do this? He was taken back by my words as he moved away from me

"I'm sorry Kai, but I think we should end this while we're still ahead" I wrapped my arms around myself

He looked like he was thinking for a few before he finally said "Fuck you"

"Fuck me?" I pointed to myself, getting angry at his words

I've done nothing but give my all even when I didn't feel like it.

"Yeah fuck you! You fed me bullshit and lies! Talkin' bout it's too much for you. You wanna be over, fuck you" he shrugged

"No fuck you!" I had begun to cry from being so angry "Fuck you for making me fall in love with you! Fuck you!" I threw my purse at him

He stared at me, looking lost for words. I mentally cursed myself for saying those words out loud, but it was the truth. I'm in love with Mekai Andrews

"Kyla, come on" Laura pulled up in her car

"Baby" he sighed as I walked pass

"I think it's best we just leave each other alone" I wiped my eyes and got in Laura's car "This is toxic"

I stared at him while she pulled off

"You ok? I didn't know you loved-"

"I don't wanna talk, just take me home" I didn't want to hear her mouth right now. I'm still a little tipsy, and I just wanna go home and cry

"Why you got an attitude towards me?" She sped down the highway

"I thought you said he wasn't going to be there" I wiped the remaining tears from my face

"I didn't know he was there until I saw him over there with you and Calvin."

"You probably were in on the whole thing. Thinking it would've made things better." I scoffed, rolling my eyes

"Excuse you?"

"How else did he know where I was at? It was either you or your stupid ass boyfriend that told him"

"What you not finna do is disrespect me and Dominic who isn't here to defend himself. I know you hurting, but that's no need to go snapping on everybody" we got close to my house

"Whatever, I'll walk the rest of the way." I got out of the moving vehicle and slammed the door

Me going to this party was supposed to help me feel better, not worse...
