"Come on Andrews! You can do better than that" Coach Johnson yelled at me from across the field

"I'm the only one out here working hard!" I yelled back, getting upset

"Control that temper" he warned "I'm just trying to motivate you"

"Yeah, whatever. I need water." I headed to the side of the field

"Fuck the water at?" The big ass water cooler that's usually out here, isn't here

"You'll get water after you calm down and practice the right way." He said

I chuckled, shaking my head "Bro, don't be worrisome, go get the damn water cooler."

"Come practice correctly and you'll get your water"

"I'm practicing the right way! I'm the only one doing shit out there! I just said that!" I hit the equipment, knocking some stuff over

"Use all that energy on the field."

"I do! That's why we're the best team in this city now."

He sighed "Practice is over for the day and I'm taking you all out of next week's game."

"What?" The rest of the players asked

"Until your quarterback gets his shit together, you won't be playing any games." He walked off the field

All of them started whining like bitches "Shut the hell up." I fanned them off, going to the locker room

This ain't hurting my future, plenty of colleges already want me. I'm good for the long run.

"Kai, you gotta chill out sometime. You gonna mess us up for this year." My friend, Dominic, stated

"Y'all gonna mess yourselves up. I ain't tryna hear it." I shrugged

"Yes, leave my baby alone. He's the hardest working player on the team." My girlfriend, Lena, chimed in

"You gone learn bruh. I'm just saying" he shrugged

"And I'm just hungry. Where the waiter at?!" I shouted throughout the diner

Lena laughed "Right. Can we get some service?" she joined me

A few seconds later, our waitress walked over "Welcome to Lilian's, may I start you off with something to drink?"

Lena and Dominic ordered their drinks, I looked up, ready to tell her mine. "A sweet tea." I finally looked at her face

It's the girl from my 2nd period class. The crazy bitch.

"Heyyy you" I smiled

She scoffed "I'll be right back with your drinks" I watched her while she walked off.

"Who's that?" Lena nudged me

"Just a fellow classmate." I answered her

"Then why are you looking at her ass?"

"I was trying to see her name tag." I joked

Dominic laughed "You a fool"

"That's not funny. Just for you thinking it's funny, I'm about to give this waitress bitch hell." She folded her arms

"Do your worst. I don't know her" I shrugged, chuckling

"Here you are." The girl came back to the table, sitting our drinks down

"I think I wanna switch my drink." Lena said, intertwining our fingers

"To what?" The girl asked

"Hmm...I don't know yet. Which would you suggest..." she leaned in, looking at her name tag "Kyla?"

"Yeah. But I'd suggest the lemonade. It is our signature drink."

"I'll try it." Lena plastered a fake smile

"Oooh, I'm shaking in my shoes" I laughed at Lena

"Shut up"

I sat back grinning. This is quite entertaining because I don't even know this girl. We just happened to have a bad run in with each other, now my girlfriend thinks I'm fucking the waitress.

"Alright. Have you all decided what you want to order?" Kyla pulled out her pen

We told her our orders and she quickly wrote them down before heading to the back. Once again, I watched her hips switch away.

We were halfway through our meal, and Lena had given Kyla hell just like she said. Surprisingly, Kyla hadn't reacted.

"Here you go." Kyla came back to the table with Lena's third plate of food.

She claimed the first one tasted funny, the second one was cold, and let's see what she says about this one.

"Thank you." Lena smiled

Kyla smiled, turning around to walk off. I watched as Lena pulled a few strands of hair from her head, placing it in the food.

"Oh ew!" She shrieked

Kyla turned around "What's wrong with it this time?"

"There's hair in my food. Yuck!"

"Let me see." she walked back over, examining the plate "Oh yeah, I see it. But you wanna know something?"

"What?" Lena asked

I became more intrigued as I ate my food.

"No waiter or waitress in here has blonde hair." She looked directly at Lena "And if they did, I'd hope they'd have a healthier type. Because this hair is crunchier than the potato skins"

"Excuse you?" I watched my girlfriend's face crack

"No, excuse you. I suggest you take your hair out the food and eat it, or not I don't care. You need to get it done. All I know is, next time you call me back to this table, your face will be in the mashed potatoes instead of your hair"

I like that, a woman that doesn't take no shit.

"I'd like to speak with the manager." She still tried her luck

Kyla did a full 360 "Hi, I'm the manager. How may I help you?"

"Ugh." Lena grumbled under her breath

"Enjoy your meal." She smiled before walking off

When we got here, Lena was accusing me of messing with Kyla and I wasn't. But I'm damn sure about to. She got fire to her.

"Thanks babe" I pecked her cheek

"For what?" She was still mad that she got embarrassed

"Just being yourself." I grinned

"She was really testing you." My friend, Laura, said as I came behind the counter

"She tried to make me fear her, you know I don't play that shit. Only person I fear is God."

"And your parents." She added

"Yeah, them too." I laughed

"You a fool." She shook her head "Wanna go out after you get off?"

"I got a bunch of homework to catch up on. Saturday?" I came up with another date

"That's even better. Dominic's having a party Saturday"

"That Dominic out there?" I looked over at the table Mekai was sitting at

Even though I don't fuck with people in school, I still know the names that come up often. His is definitely one of them. Besides, when I had his wallet, I checked his ID

"Yeah. With his cute ass"

"I'll see if I can make it." I said, now realizing Mekai will most likely be there since him and Dominic are like best friends

"Come on Ky. You've been to two parties throughout your high school life. This is our senior year, live a little"

"I'm living a lot. I'm breathing ain't I? If you don't breath then you're dead. Therefore, I'm very much alive" I took heavy breaths, being dramatic

"Smart ass." She nudged me

"And being one is going to get me a lot of scholarships for a lot of colleges." I dragged the joke

"Girl, shut the hell up and go give them the check" she laughed

I grabbed the checkbook and headed back out. I checked on a few other tables before making my way back to the table with the worrisome bitch.

"Here's the check. Would you like some to go boxes and cups?" I saw that they hadn't finished all their food

"Yeah. Just one" Mekai said, eyeballing me as he went in his pocket and pulled out a wad of cash

He's cute, but his attitude doesn't match.

I went and got the materials from the back, then came and sat them on the table. I grabbed the checkbook, seeing they'd paid.

"Have a nice day." Feeling eyes on me, I gave Mekai a glance. Sure enough, he was still looking at me.

"Thank you." He said. Oh wow! He says thank you?

His girlfriend scoffed "Let's go" she grabbed his hand

How I can irritate people by simply doing my job is entertaining to me.

When I began cleaning the table off, I noticed a $20 tip. I picked it up and was about to put it in my pocket until I saw it had writing on it.
The writing was Mekai's name and number. How shallow.
