F I R S T - R O U N D - E N T R Y

The challenge for the first round was to create a cover without a model on it. This excluded animals and the cool body parts. You know, like horns, claws, talons, bones, skulls, etc.

Having no concrete prompt resulted in a lot of ideas, like a knife piercing a treasure map, a ship in the clouds, hourglass with plants growing out of it. In the end I went for something inspired by Greek mythology.

This is the first book jacket I've ever made, so I was really nervous about starting it. I think it turned alright. The background was made by numerous textures blended together. Clouds were painted on with brushes (bless their maker), as well as the tiny sparks. The thread was recolored from black to gold/yellow/orange-ish (best. part. of. the. process.). I think I can proudly say that this is the yellowest thing I've ever made  *beams*.
