The woman continues to stare down at me with a smirk "Now that I have your attention, I should formally invite you to my tea party. Well, I guess it would be considered our tea party now."

Instead of replying to her, I ask a very important question of my own "D- Did I just die?"

"It depends how you define death." She answers "Your body and soul are still in the mortal plane. I took the liberty of bringing your mind here so we can have a nice discussion over a cup of tea. To put it simply, your consciousness isn't returning to your body until our tea party is over."

"You're dropping a lot on me at once here." I mutter before shaking out all the thoughts rushing through my head and making my way up the small hill

"Oh, you're approaching me that quickly?" She tilts her head "Usually it would take a lot more convincing than that." She frowns and wipes her eyes "Then again, most people vomit when they see me. Maybe they just think I'm ugly or something."

"I wouldn't say that. You're probably the second most beautiful woman I've ever seen." I comment, continuing to walk up the hill "Right behind that one magical girl cosplayer I saw at the Kuoh Anime Convention. Then again, I don't see too many women anyway, so do with that as you will."

"Only second?" She pouts "Saying that to a girl that tore through space time just to have a chance to talk to you. Have you no manners?"

"I pride myself on being an honest person. I just say it how it is." I finally make it to the top of the hill and sit down in a seat across the table from her "So... what now?"

"You've never been on a date before?" She raises an eyebrow "This is where we sit down and unwind. As the man, it's your responsibility to show the lady a good time."

I stare at her blankly before sinking back into my seat, picking up the tea cup in front of me, and taking a small sip "I feel personally attacked right now. Besides, I don't even know who you are, yet I still decided to join you up here. As your guest you should be the one showing me a good time."

"As I said before, this is our tea party. Not mine." She corrects "Though, I should've probably introduced myself earlier. I'm Echdina. The Witch of Greed."

"I'm Y/N L/N. I'm not anything special. There isn't much to say about me."

"I see..." Echidna puts her hands together under her chin, resting her head on them

"Well today is your lucky, or unlucky, depending on how you look at it, day!" She announces "From now on, we will be partners!"

"Huh?" I raise an eyebrow

"You really think I followed her here just to have some human interaction?" Echidna tilts her head "I want to learn everything I can about the world you live in. Not to mention, i'm still curious on why she's intrested in you of all things."

"She? You're being awfully vague here..."

Echdina narrows her eyes "I rather not say her name. Actually, I bet she's rather envious that I was the first to get in contact with you. Not to mention how we're talking about her right now. She won't be happy about that."

"You can atleast say her name once. You're killing me with suspense here." I complain

"That's too bad. I'm sure you'll meet her soon." Echidna clears her throat "In any case, as I stated before we're partners now."

I nod and take another sip of my tea before responding "Yeah, you said earlier that you want to learn everything you can about this world. That's cool and all but I never agreed to anything. It sounded like a pretty one sided partnership to me. Scammer."

"Scammer? I'm hardly scamming you. It just so happened that you haven't heard the full thing yet!" Echidna childishly pouts "Calling people names isn't very nice, especially when they're trying to help you."

"Now would be a good time to say how it helps me."

Echidna stands up from her seat and starts making her way towards me "I'm not asking for much. All I want is more knowledge of this world, and in exchange I'll give you access to everything I have. My power, hundreds of years worth of knowledge about my world and magic, or even my body if you so desire."

"Well that sounds-"

I pause as Echidna walks behind me and wraps her arms around me "You could still deny my offer. Just don't be surprised if I don't protect you from the other witches. They are way more cruel than I am."

"Wait, there are others?" I question "Since when?!"

"Only one of us can be here at once. But yes, there are 6 other witches. One of them, the witch of envy, slaughtered thousands of innocent people just because they looked up to us other witches. Gluttony decided it would be fun to unleash monsters in the world that murder and devour countless humans just for the hell of it. Would you really want to deal people like that? I'm not asking much of you, in fact, I think our little deal is far more in your favor than mine."

I take a minute to think about what she said before turning my head to look at her "I feel like you're leaving something out here..."

"I have nothing to hide." Echidna claims "Would you like to guess why I'm the witch of greed? Just take a look around."

I do as she says and still see nothing but an endless plane of grass "It's still the same as when I got here. There's pretty much nothing here."

"Exactly. Most people like to get greedy with material possessions, which in the grand scheme of things is ridiculous. You can only have an item for so long, but if you learn something you can keep that knowledge for as long as you like. I personally just want to learn as much as I can, about everything I can. I consider sacrificing my very being a small price to pay to be able to learn about a whole new world."

"So you're like some sort of information whore?"

Echidna nods "That's a crude way to put it, but you wouldn't be wrong. So what do you say? Would you like to make the deal or not?"

I shrug "Well it's not like I have much to lose. Being able to use magic and stuff would be cool."

After hearing my answer, Echidna's mouth shifts into a smirk

"Excellent! Just put your hand out and I'll do the rest!"

"Uh... that's a pretty creepy face you're making." I point out

She scoffs "Is that really something you should be saying to your new partner? I got a little exited give me a break."

"If you say so..." I stand up and hold my hand out like she told me to do "Now what?"

Instead of answering, Echidna walks in front of me and does the same, holding her hand in front of mine "You may feel a bit funny here, just ignore it." She states

"What do you mean by funny?" I question. She ignores me and within seconds a dark mist starts to cover our arms. Suddenly, I feel a cold chill run down my spine and my stomach starts to turn. Just as fast as the feeling appeared, it vanishes along with the mist covering our arms.

"With that out of the way, I should probably send you back for the time being. It seems we're out of time anyway." Echidna continues to hold her hand out, and a black portal opens up behind me

"But we just-"

She cuts me off "With our contract complete, you can come speak with me anytime you wish. The power and everything else should come to you soon. Just remember to keep your end of the deal."

Before I can respond, she places her hand on my chest and pushes me back. Gravity seemingly vanishes as I'm lifted into the air and pulled into the portal. The last thing I see before blacking out is Echidna staring into the distance with narrowed eyes at a figure shrouded in black.

"Satella..."

I slowly open my eyes as my ears are violently attacked by the horrible music filling the room. Without hesitation I lift my hand and slam it down on the alarm clock, causing it to stop screeching that horrible tune. I sit in silence for a couple seconds before yawning and rubbing my eyes "Fucking dubbed ultimate battle..."

I push all of the blankets off me and sit up on the side of my bed, still trying to take in the events of last night. 'So I got stabbed... went into another dimension and met some hot girl... and then supposedly got special abilities...' I look down at the palm of my hand 'Atleast I can say watching tons of anime and manga gave me one thing. Weird ass dreams.'

The feeling of getting stabbed lingers in the back of my head, along with Echidna. For some reason, just remembering Echidna starts to slowly fill me with fear. 'Just what the hell was she?'

"So you're finally awake?" I slightly jump up at the voice that appeared out of nowhere and turn towards the source. It's the same girl from the store yesterday! Better yet, she has no clothes on! Fuck being a dream, this must be heaven! "Sorry about the state I'm in. We didn't expect you to wake up so soon."

"Huh?" I ask like a true intellectual, not looking at her boobs

She just sighs and turns around "Come downstairs. We will explain everything there. I suggest you get dressed though. This may be your home but you should really cover that sorry thing when you have guests." With that said she walks out of the room.

I stare at the doorway for a couple seconds taking in what she said before looking down. What she said was true. My clothes were also missing! "IT ISN'T SORRY! IT'S COLD!" I instantly scream towards the door.

Within seconds I'm already dressed and walking out of my room and the stairs. Almost as soon as i'm down there I'm greeted by two people sitting in the dining room. One was the girl from yesterday, sadly wearing clothes now, and the other was a girl that looked around my age with short hair, violet eyes, and a glasses. Good description, I know.

Curiosity gets the better of me, and I ask a very important and valid question "Who are you two and how did you get into my house?"

'Be careful of them Y/N. There is something strange about those two. It wouldn't be good if you already died this early on...' Echidna's voice appears in my head, putting me in edge

The girl with short hair decides to answer my question "I must apoligize for barging into your home like this, but we will explain everything. I recommend you take a seat first." Shs shifts her attention to the long haired girl "Tsubaki, will you go prepare the two of us some tea? We may be a while."

The now named Tsubaki simply nods and makes her way out of the dining room and towards my kitchen. While she does that, I do as glasses asked and take a seat.

"My name is Sona Sitri, and I'm a devil." Sona introduces herself as two bat like wings burst out of her back. We continue to just look at eachother waiting for either of us to say anything. Eventually she continues "I must say, you don't seem surprised at all. Could it be that you already knew what we were?"

"I think my surprise well is already drained for the day." I say with a heavy sigh

Sona nods and pushes up her glasses "If that's the case I think it would be safe to assume you already know what happened. Would you mind if I ask what you already know? Just so we can get to bottom of this nice and quick." As if on que Tsubaki walks back in the room with three cups of tea. She slides two of them onto the table and goes to stand behind Sona, keeping the last cup for herself.

"I'm still kind of... lost, to say the least. I can try though." I clear my throat getting ready to tell my tragic tale "Yesterday, I was at the store just minding my own buisness, and that's when I bumped into Tsubaki. We talked about school and stuff. When I was distracted and just trying to escape the school talk, I grabbed Detos! Some shitty knock off Dorito thing! Anyways, some girl tried to get me to take her home. I started walking with her since I'm such a nice guy, and I even offered her my detos. She didn't appreciate the offer. She then sprouted wings and stabbed me. After that I met-"

Time seemingly stops around me and black mist fills the room. The temperature of the room drops several degrees and several of the same hands I saw earlier with Echidna slowly appears out of the mist. One grabs onto my chest, giving me the feeling of my heart being crushed. The others just cover my body, with a freezing touch.

Just as fast as they appeared they vanish. Time moves again and I'm left panting and trying to push back the fear and pain I just felt. I look back up at Sona and continue "I woke up and met you two properly."

Sona takes in my awesome story for a second "Well that's quite a story Y/N."

"Indeed. It's 100 percent true too. Nothing left out."

Sona nods "From what Tsubaki told me, I can believe that it is. I should probably apologize that we didn't make it to you sooner. Tsubaki usually isn't allowed to act without me, so she had to wait for me before stepping in. I'm sorry we took so long to help you. I take complete responsibility for what happened to you." She tilts her head down and bows "Even if we did heal you it still shouldn't have gotten to that point. Once again, I'm sorry."

"Shut up, just stop apologizing already." I lean back in my seat and drink some of my tea "I have to admit, I'm a bit irked that you didn't come sooner. Then again, you didn't have to come or heal me at all for that matter, so if anything that's just me being greedy and wanting more than I actually deserve. In any case, I'm more angry at that bitch that killed me. I would kill to be able to drop kick her! Even if it's just once!"

Sona tilts her head "Do you actually mean that? Or are you just saying that?"

"I want to kill that bitch."

She let's out a giggle after hearing my answer "So if I offered you a chance to take your revenge on her, would you take it?"

I shrug "It depends what I have to do for you in exchange."

"That's only natrual. There's always a price you have to pay for stuff like that." Sona clears her throat and the tone of the room shifts into a more serious one. "The price is quite simple really."

'This sounds awfully familiar....' I say to myself

Sona narrows her eyes at me "I'm not going to lie and sugarcoat my intentions. I had Tsubaki heal you so I would get the chance to take you in as my sevant."

'Atleast she's honest...'

"I can assure you, it's not the type of servant you're thinking. All I ask is that you follow me, and lend me your power to help me achieve my goals. As my servant, all you would need to do is help humans out from time to time, slay other devils that have betrayed their master, and maybe even fight other devils and their servants in the future. I should probably mention that becoming my servant will turn you into a devil. You'll live for almost an eternity and have the chance to exceed the limitations of your human body by leaps and bounds. Not to mention the opportunities you'd have if become a high-class devil like me. It will take effort but I can assure you it would be worth it." Sona holds her hand out towards me "If you refuse we will have to erase all of your memories of the supernatrual, we won't be able to assure your safety from the fallen angels either."

I stare at her hand for a second before sighing and shaking it "Fine, if you're lying about anything though, I'm going to have to kick your ass. I don't like being scammed."

Sona chuckles in amusement "No need to worry, there's no reason to hide something you're going to find out about anyway."

I nod and pull my hand back "So, how exactly do we do this? Do I have to give you my soul or something?"

"Devils stopped taking souls before I was even born." She says with a shake of her head. She lifts her hand, and with a soft blue light a single pawn piece appears in it. "All I do is fuse this with your soul and the rest will work itself out."

"I won't become a red gremlin lookin' devil, will I?" I ask with serious concern "If I will is it too late to turn back now?"

"I don't know a single devil that looks like that." Sona states while walking towards me "You're body should stay the same. Worse thing that will happen is that you gain some muscle. You may feel slightly weakened by the sun for a couple days but that's normal. Other than that you have nothing to worry about." She stops in front of me and holds the pawn in front of my chest. A light similar to the one she summoned the peace with covers her hand. All my senses escape me and I'm assulted by the stinging cold that I experienced earlier. My head starts to pound and voices fill my thoughts.

'Y/N, my love.''Don't let her take you.''You belong to me.'

"Y/N!" A stern voice snaps me out of my trance and brings me back to reality. I look up and see Sona staring down at me "Is something wrong? Your aura just flared for a second."

I shake my head and smile "Nothing at all! Totally fine!"

"Right..." Sona says, like she doesn't believe my great acting "Well I finished. You're a devil now. I should probably let you in on some more things while I'm here."

"The more I know the better." I mutter while thinking back to what just happened  'The hell was that!? That's the second time that happened.'

"To start, I was going to deal with those fallen angels anyway. Someone else told me they would several weeks ago, they haven't done anything yet though. Unless you count getting innocent humans killed. The second thing is that you're going to have to come back to school now. I'll pull some strings and have you become a part of the Student Council too."

"School?!" I jump out of my seat and stare at Sona with widened eyes

'This is just getting more and more intresting by the second! Not only do I learn about humans of this world but I can learn about an entirely different race at the same time! I'm so excited!' Echidna's voice appears again 'I should probably go make some more tea while I'm feeling this way. Y/N dear, I'll call you back here later tonight. In the meantime I'll go make a tea better than anything you've ever tasted before!'

(A/N: So much for two thousand word chapters. I just didn't want to end it right after Echidna so forgive me people who don't like long chapters. Also this should be the last dialogue heavy chapter, just wanted to set things up for when we get into canon.

I'm going to cover things people may be wondering about real quick.

Echidna does not know about Return by Death yet, neither does Y/N. Echidna just made the contract so she'll have Y/N as kind of a puppet to learn about his world. In her mind, someone using her power would be a small price to pay for that much knowledge.

Yes, Y/N is in Sona's peerage as a single pawn. That should be enough for now since he hasn't really gotten any power just yet, for now he just has access to a couple unseen hands and a portion of the aura of the witches. It's also easier for me to write.

Sona will be a bit more forward in this story. You probably noticed that when she just came out with her intentions instead of dancing around them and lying, unlike another devil.

For people wondering about the harem, there will be one. There will only be a couple girls Y/N is serious about. Saying anything further than that will be a spoiler. Just remember soon he'll represent greed and lust. That should be enough for now.

I'm probably missing something but just forgetting. Here's a Beatrice and Echidna to make up for it. This picture isn't foreshadowing either. Nope. Definitely not.

Final thing, sorry this took so long. I have 3 other chapters 1s that I didn't like, I think that one is pretty good for me though.)
