Chapter 22: Golden Ticket to Victory

"And this is Francois! The general of my army!!!" King exclaimed, raising a rabbit plushy into the air.

Jean-Luc groaned once more before gently patting the rabbit, smiling.

"Yeah! He is really cool! But I don't trust him." King narrowed his eyes at the rabbit.

Jean-Luc also patted his head in return.

King giggled before seeing Luz walk over. "Oh! Hey, Mom!"

Luz smiled. "Heya, King! Do ya mind if I talk to Jean-Luc for a bit? I have some questions."

"Sure!" King smiled as he walked away with a smile. "Bye, Mom! Bye, Jean-Luc!"

Jean-Luc waved before grabbing a notepad and writing down something before showing it to her. 'What do you need?'

"I just had some questions. About King's father and his...birth." Luz said, a little confused. "I found King when he was a pup, so mind telling me?"

'I'll answer as best I can. Anything to the person who took care of the prince.' Jean-Luc wrote.

Luz's eyes widened. "Okay, first question. King's...a prince?"

'Yes. He is a prince. Or at least, technically. His father is the TRUE King of Demons, having earned that title through gladiatorial battles and protecting fellow demons. In a way, King's father was a warlord.'

"Yikes. Was he at least a good person?"

'As scary as he was? Yes. He was a good person. He was wise and brave, and as stubborn as he was strong. He built me as his personal servant...but only when King's egg was formed.'

"Formed? You mean laid-"

'King never had a mother. The egg's creation was a miracle.' Jean-Luc then wrote down more. 'Long ago, while his father was ruling over demon-kind, a mystical and incredibly powerful spirit roamed throughout all of The Boiling Isles. It briefly encountered us and then a small wisp of magic came before it passed us like it did all the other parts of the isles. The wisp of magic then formed an egg. His father was very confused before realizing the wisp of magic had formed a Birthing Ritual. But the only people who could do such a thing were witches...or The Titan.'

Luz's eyes widened. "Wait, wait, wait! Hold up! You're saying my precious little guy...MIGHT BE RELATED TO THE TITAN!?!?" Luz shrieked.

Jean-Luc jumped a bit before quickly writing down more. 'It's only a possibility! But yes, maybe. Anyway, King's father realized the egg was his own. So, he created me to protect it. And you know the rest of the story.' He wrote with a nod.

Luz was completely frozen, her eyes still wide.

'Luz?' Jean-Luc asked, waving his claws in front of her eyes. 'Hello?' He also wrote down...for some reason.

"...That explains the wolf form!" Luz exclaimed. "Wait...but The Titan has been dead for eons! How old is King!?"

'He is 8 years old.'

"Oh, thank god." Luz said with a sigh before looking at Jean-Luc again. "But how?"

'Your guess is as good as mine.' Jean-Luc said. 'My only theory would be that The Titan's spirit roamed around the Boiling Isles until it had passed its magic all around. I'm assuming then the spirit disappeared.'

"Unless it somehow is still in The Boiling Isles and Belos wasn't kidding about the whole 'Talking to The Titan' thing!" Luz laughed.

Jean-Luc also laughed before writing down mode. 'Yes! That is hilarious!'

"We would be DOOMED if that happened!" Luz laughed.

'We would all die!'

"Thank Titan that it never did or will." Luz sighed with relief before smiling. "I think I'm gonna like having ya around."

'I am very glad to be here.' Jean-Luc wrote. 'And thank you so much.'

"Huh? For what?" Luz asked.

'For taking care of King. He truly sees you as the mother he never had.'

Luz's heart swelled and he giggled. "I try my best."

Jean-Luc wrote down one more thing before showing it to her. 'And you've proven that your best? Is definitely the greatest the prince can ask for.'

"Awwww!" Luz smiled before hearing the door open.

"I'm home!" Eda cried before her eyes widened. She then took out one of her kitchen knifes. "ALRIGHT, EVIL BEAST THING! STAY AWAY FROM MY KID!"

"WAIT! EDA-"

Meanwhile...

Amity hummed a tune to herself as she put the last plate into the dishwasher, inserted the soap and then began walking back to her room.

"Thinking of someone, Mittens?"

Amity jumped before turning to see her twins. She sighed. "Really? You're 18 and you're still playing these jokes."

"Sorry, sis." Emira laughed. "But, who's the lucky girl?"

"H-How do you-"

"We caught you listening to Little Miss Perfect." Edric said with a shrug.

"...In my defense, that song is just insanely catchy." Amity said. "But...it's Luz. The girl I danced with."

"Called it!" They both said in unison. "You should ask her out!"

"I-I did! K-Kinda!"

"We mean, on like, an actual date." Edric said. "Like, romantic walk across the beach, the park, or something the two of you like doing together!"

"But actually call it a date. Cause your trip to the fair was only sort of one." Emira said.

Amity's face went red before she huffed. "What would you two know about dates?"

"Absolutely nothing." They said in unison.

Amity snorted a little. "S-Sorry, that was funny."

"Well, it's the last time you get to hear our jokes before we're off to college." Edric said, ruffling Amity's hair.

"Wish us luck?" Emira smiled.

"Definitely." Amity nodded before blushing. "You think I-I should...?"

They both nod before seeing their father enter the room.

"You could invite her over." He suggested with a warm smile.

"W-Wait! Really?" Amity asked.

Alador smiled and nodded. "I want to meet this apparently charming young lady for myself."

Amity laughed. "Promise not to scare her if I do invite her over?"

"Yes, Amity. But as if I could scare her." Alador laughed.

The Blight Siblings all laughed before Emira's phone buzzed.

"Oh! Crap! Store's about to close. We gotta get a few things for the road."

"Don't be there too long!" Alador said as they ran out of the mansion and to their car. "You know, I'm afraid of letting them into college."

"Heh. There, there." Amity said before blushing again. "So...you wanna meet Luz?"

"Yes. I do." Alador said with a nod. "I want to meet her. Your mother won't be coming home for a very long while."

Amity had a silent sigh of relief before she hugged Alador and then went up to her room. "Thank you, Dad!!"

Alador waved...before his heart clenched and he nearly fell against the table.

There was clapping and Golden Guard appeared again, his hands glowing red.

"Bravo! I hoped you like my impression of you!" Golden Guard said as he revealed invisible puppet strings on Alador.

"IF...YOU HURT...MY CHILDREN..."

"THEN I WILL HURT YOU..." Golden Guard said as he took off his mask. "I have killed people worse than you...with their blood coating my sword. And The Emperor? Ohohoho, you don't even wanna cross him. The last person who did? Died of Ligma."

"Ligma...?"

"LIGMA BALLS." Golden Guard laughed as he put his mask back on and then clenched his fist, forcing Alador to follow him.
