I gasped as Ben pulled me off the road. A bus close to hitting us. He gripped my arm and pulled me into an alley.
"I thought he was fine with you leaving?!" He harshly whispered. He kept looking over his shoulders.
"I thought so but he completely freaked out" I winced in discomfort as his grip on me began to tighten. He seemed to notice it and slowly let go of my arms.
"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to hurt you. But why did he try to pull a gun on us. Is he like a mobster?"
"No, just... I'll explain everything. But we need to find a place to stay"
"Why? We're back in Salem."
"Just do what I say. You'll be safe" he nodded. We left the alley and walked 2 blocks until we stopped infront of a small yet nice home. He opened the door as led me in.
"Peggy?" He yelled. I heard footsteps running down the hall and soon I was faced with a girl, no older than 6.
"Ben!" She smiled gleefully. She jumped into his arms and he spun her around. He put her down and she starred at me. She hid behind Ben's legs. I smiled softly.
"Peggy this is Alice. Alice this is Peggy, my little sister" I knelt down as she looked me cautiously. Ben nudged her forward slightly. She slowly walked up to me until she was right in front of me. She nervously twiddled her thumbs around.
"Hello Peggy. It's nice to meet you" I said nicely. She smiled slightly. And muttered a small hello.
"And guess what? She also a witch" Ben added. Her face was soon replaced with a big grin.
"Are you really? Do you know magic? Can you teach me?" She jumped up and down excitedly. I giggled and nodded. She squealed and wrapped her small arms around my neck.
"Can we start now?" She asked hopefully. I looked up at Ben, silently asking.
"She can't right now. We need to have a grown up talk. But maybe you can start tomorrow?" She nodded. Ben told her to stay inside her room until dinner. She skipped down the hall and I hear a door close.
"Do you want anything to drink?" I nodded no. He led me to the couch and I sat down next to him.
"Okay now tell me what's going on?" He asked seriously. His face remained calm.
"My boss, James. Well he's-he's not my actual boss. I'm kinda his prisoner" I looked down suddenly finding my thumbs interesting.
"What? Why? Did you do anything wrong?" He asked urgently. I looked up and shook my head.
"No. But that hotel we were at, was his playground" he furrowed his eyebrows together.
"What do you mean?" He asked curiously. Should I tell him? Might as well since I brought him into my crazy messed up life.
"James made that hotel to torture people. Many rooms in their were made for killing. He uses his guest as his toys"
"What? Why would you stay. You could've had the power to kill him" he raised his voice slightly. T
"Yes but he also has the power to kill me" the look he gave me was a mix of anger, confusion and pity.
"His wife is a vampire. He lured me in as his new toy and next meal for his wife. His wife bite into me and we both felt hot burning in our body. For some reason her venom hurts both her and I. He collected her venom. If i agree to help him using my powers, he'd spare my life" I continued. I bit down on my bottom lip in a nervous matter.
"How come she got effected? If a vampire drinks the blood of a witch, it should make them ten times more powerful. How come it hurts her?" I shrugged. I was also asking that to myself for months
"I don't know. I did have a plan to escape. But..." I paused scared for his reaction. I know he'll think I'm crazy for it
"I grew to care for him" I whispered. I feel him tense beside me. I look up and his face looked back at mine in shock and horror
"How? Alice he's a murderer" he tried to reason.
"I know what he is." I snapped. I sighed as I leaned my head back onto the wall.
"He's the only person that's ever cared for me. I can't just let him go" I muttered softly. I looked down shamefully. What would my mother say. Probably hate me for it.
"I care for you Alice. I know we only met hours ago but I feel like I've known you my entire life" I looked up as tears began to water my eyes. He smiled comfortingly
"I'm so sorry I got you into this mess" I cried out. He gave a look of sympathy and inched closer to me. He hesitantly wrapped his toned arms around my sobbing form. I clung to his shirt as I kept muttering sorry's in his chest. He rubbed my back in a comforting way telling me it's alright. But I knew it was far from alright. Know I'm hiding not only from Margaret, but from James as well.
