Nineteen
I can feel the shadows emanating from the forest although we are miles away. I can feel her dark gaze at me. I also can feel their eyes. I can feel them staring at me. I turn to them.
"If you want to say something, say it." I say.
"Rain, um... why did you not tell us that monster killed your parents?" Ciara said.
I let out a breath.
"Because it was my fault." I say.
It was all my fault. She was right, I was selfish. Deep down I am still selfish. I want this war to end. I want myself to be healed. I'm suffered so much. I just want to be free. I am so sick of fighting for my life.
Kane stopped. He looked around. He stopped us. The horses became frightened. They started to whine and yell. This has happened before. They fear the darkness. I jump off my horse.
"Let them go. They do not deserve to see what comes." I say.
They nod. They jumped off their horses. They ran away quickly. We turn to an entrance into the forest. A storm of crows flies out around us, crows with round heads and pointy beaks with golden eyes. I let out a breath.
"Something's coming." Lord Patrick said.
I grabbed my sword. We see the forest light up with red eyes. We hear raspy low groans. Zombies. Why would they be out? It's not night at all. When they got closer, I realize that they are covered in the same vines. The vines must be protecting them.
