Chapter 2

Taehyung couldn’t take his eyes off her. The shadows of their figures reflected in the glass doors of her cabin. He sighed and glanced at his computer, which had been waiting for his attention.

Lee Eun Y/n—no, *his* Eunnah! Taehyung's ex-girlfriend and the first love who had abandoned him five years ago during their university days. They had both been pursuing their master’s degrees in business at Seoul National University. Taehyung often found himself stealing glances at her during lectures, admiring her whenever she walked through the university hallways with her friends. After class, he would always wait for her by the parking lot, ready to pick her up on his motorcycle and take her back to the penthouse they shared, which was owned by him.

He couldn't keep his gaze away from her back then, either—especially when she curled up in his arms like a baby after a long day. Her doe eyes and luscious lips—everything about her intrigued him. Those nights together were like a wonderful tune, with her quiet snores, loving gazes, and tender kisses that flipped his heart every time. She never stopped giving him butterflies. However, with time, her conduct began to shift. She became distant, refusing to allow him touch her and putting a distance between them. She officially ended their relationship just before they graduated.

She blamed her family, saying she had to go abroad for further studies and to take over the family business.
Taehyung recalls vividly the day she packed her clothing and accessories and walked past him as if he didn't exist. Her expression was frigid, revealing just displeasure and frustration. Even when she got into the car with her luggage, she didn't look back at him, despite the fact that she knew he was standing there with tears flowing down his cheeks.

Back in the present, Taehyung’s eyes glistened with fresh tears, a few drops falling onto the papers on his desk. Just then, he noticed the old man coming out of her cabin, walking in his direction. Taehyung exchanged glances with the old man, and with Yoongi, who was also watching with mild curiosity.

Taehyung compared the man's desperate shuffling to a youngster asking for ice cream at the counter. The elderly man shouted out to him.

"Mr. Kim, Ma'am wants to see you in her office." Taehyung felt his heart skip a beat. His eyes closed for a brief while, and he felt a jolt of energy rush through his veins, sending sparks of tension throughout his body. Yoongi nodded, giving him a thumbs up as encouragement.

"Yes, I'm coming," Taehyung said, rising up. He approached the glass doors to her cabin, took a deep breath before opening them. His eyes scanned the crowd, looking for his ex-girlfriend, Lee Eun Y/n, whom he had longed to see for years.

"Yes, Mr. Kim Taehyung," she said, snapping him out of his thoughts. She was standing by the desk, a red file tied with black threads in her hand. Her face turned toward him, expression cold and emotionless. There was no shock or hesitation in her demeanor, just an empty gaze, completely unlike the one she once had when they were together.

"Yes, Ma'am,"
Taehyung said, mentally reprimanding himself for calling her *Ma'am*. But he couldn't dwell on it; he had to concentrate on what she was about to say.

"I'm upgrading you to my personal secretary, effective immediately. Consider it a promotion from your current job."
Taehyung was taken by surprise. He had poured 10 years of his passion and effort into this organization, and now he was being promoted to a position that everyone else had fought for.

"And now for the unofficial announcement," she replied. Taehyung blinked, puzzled.

"Unofficial? I don't understand, Ma'am. Could you please explain?"

He observed as she approached the window and pulled the drapes closed, isolating her from the rest of the workplace. His heart raced as he feared he had made a mistake in one of his chemical sub-factory reports or surveys.

His pulse quickened as she moved toward him, her black heels clicking against the cold tiles. Her jewelry was minimal, yet elegant—classic. Her attire consisted of a crisp white shirt with a high neckline, a loosely tied white scarf draped around her neck. Her fitted black pants, expertly tailored to her long legs, caught his attention.

Taehyung muttered under his breath, "Beautiful..."

He didn’t realize she had stopped just inches from him, staring directly into his eyes. Her proximity surprised him; their faces were so close that their lips were almost touching. He froze on the spot, unable to move as she leaned in.

"I heard that, Tae... thanks for the compliment," she whispered, sending a chill down his spine.

In a swift, impulsive movement, Taehyung grabbed her waist, pulling her close. Their bodies pressed against each other, and he gazed into her eyes, filled with a wild mix of desire and confusion. Y/n bit her lip, tempting him even further. Unable to resist, he leaned in, capturing her lips in a passionate kiss. It was like a painter delicately stroking his brush against a canvas, each movement filled with the emotion he had buried for years.

Their kiss deepened as Y/n wrapped her arms around his neck, her fingers tangling in his hair. The intensity of their kiss grew as their breaths became heavier. Taehyung’s hands wandered to her chest, cupping her softly, eliciting a soft moan from her lips. Their heated kiss intensified, both of them panting and lost in the moment.

"I can't stop this, Tae... I’m sorry for everything..." Y/n whispered, her voice breaking as tears welled up in her eyes.

But Taehyung silenced her with another kiss, his lips capturing hers once again, as if to say everything would be okay.
